Hooded Beyonce sidles in

Klaudia//September 22, 2009
Under the cover of darkness and in sunglasses, ripped white jeans and with a dark hooded jumper, popstar Beyonce Knowles sidled into Adelaide. It was a stark contrast from the all-empowering diva who dresses for the stage in a crystal corset. Rumoured to have been unwell on the Australian leg of her tour, Knowles made sure her visit to Adelaide was a fleeting one, touching down at the airport just two hours before she was due on stage at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Shielding her curvaceous form from prying eyes, Knowles stepped into a dark Audi with tinted windows and sped away. She arrived in the chartered flight terminal at James Schofield Drive about 6.45pm and was believed to have been driven directly to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. If I Were a Boy was welcomed with a loud roar before the over powering bass boomed, shaking not only hearts but the massive screens projecting her performance. Knowles then performed an empassioned snippet of Alanis Morrisette's You Oughtta Know as her hair flowed through the fans beneath her feet like a scene from many of her stunning film clips - leading to believe that Kanye West's childish claims earlier this month were true. Despite the stunning visuals and booming sound, unlike other pop acts such as Pink and Britney Spears - all eyes were on the performer and not the luxurious staging," I am here to empower women" she said before introfucing her all female band before the heartbreaking Me Myself and I. Making her way to the middle of the entertainment centre to a tiny stage before soaring over the crowd with aid of a wire harness - Beyonce certainly came, saw and conquered. Beyonce is renowned for her dazzling, commanding near three-hour long performances. Some of her devotees paid upwards of $169 to witness the bootilicious diva. Some of her biggest hits include Crazy in Love, If I Were a Boy and her smash hit from former act Destiny's Child, Say My Name. With many acts such as Pink, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears turning their concerts into high-energy stage performances, Knowles can hold it with the best of them with her all-female backing band keeping up with the diva's seamless strutting in her high heels. She is known to show versatility among the bass heavy rhythm and blues and in previous concerts has performed snippets of tracks including Alanis Morissette's You Oughta Know (yet another all-woman empowering song), and Sarah McLachlan's Arms of an Angel , adding a musical education to the young audience. The usually reserved Beyonce, who has remained hidden from the Australian media on this trip, has a voice on stage and is constantly chatting to the crowd between stunning visuals and costume changes. Even support act U.S. rapper Flo Rida, who recently revealed he would like to use this tour as an opportunity to discuss working with Beyonce, has not had much contact with her. "Well, I got a chance to meet her," the rapper told The Advertiser. "I guess that's the first initial move."
