Beychella sweatshirt to be auctioned off at Ebay Celebrity Stylist Sale

September 27, 2018

“There’s something about winning an Ebay auction that’s just so exciting,” says stylist Mariel Haenn, one half of the power duo, known as Rob and Mariel, that’s responsible for J.Lo’s glamorous, high-wattage looks. “Agreed,” says her business partner Rob Zangardi. “That cha-ching notification always gives me a thrill.” Even more so, perhaps, if you have just won the yellow Michael Costello jumpsuit worn by Lopez at the 2015 AMAs, or a pair of Justin Bieber’s quilted leather Balmain skate shoes, or one of Kendall Jenner’s Adidas sweatsuits from her collaboration with Daniëlle Cathari, which are just some of the items that eBay will auction on the site’s first-ever Fall Stylist Sale running from September 25th though October 2nd.

The sale, which is part of the Ebay For Charity initiative, involves a team of top-tier celebrity stylists including Marni Senofonte (whose has dressed Lauryn Hill, Beyoncé, and Kendall Jenner); Karla Welch (best known perhaps for her teen-idol clients Justin Bieber and Lorde); Ilaria Urbinati (who outfits leading men like Donald Glover, Rami Malek, and Armie Hammer and the aforementioned Rob and Mariel to curate pieces from their archives for an auction to benefit the cause of their choice. The result is a collection over 50 pieces ranging from jewelry, bags, and shoes to sold-out collectibles and one-of-a-kind custom pieces by designers including Gucci, Valentino, Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, and Balmain, many of which have walked the red carpet. Prices will start at 99 cents, and the lots will be featured on each of the stylists’ Instagram stories beginning today , allowing shoppers to swipe up and place bids on eBay.

Here, a first look at some of the most covetable pieces that will go under the hammer.

Beyonce's Hair Colorist Shares Inspiration Behind Her New Blonde Hue

June 11, 2018

She’s known as Queen Bey for a reason! Beyoncé and Jay-Z kicked off their On the Run II tour in Cardiff, Wales, on Wednesday, June 6, and while the show is epic for so many reasons (think: insane musical talent, jamming songs, gorgeous costumes), we couldn’t help but be mesmerized by Beyoncé’s #flawless cascade of curls. So you can imagine our delight from Bey’s longtime hair colorist Rita Hazan (the same woman who crafted the perfect shade of blonde for those history-making 2018 Coachella performances in April) agreed to spill all the details on the summery strands.

“I got a call that Beyoncé wanted her hair color to be super dramatic for this show which is why I jumped on the soonest flight to Paris to meet with her last weekend,” Rita tells Us. When it came to deciding on the perfect shade, the colorist, who first started working with Bey about seven years ago at the recommendation of the diva’s hairstylist Kim Kimble, explained that it was all about minding the details (i.e. lighting, wardrobe, makeup, etc.).

“She was requesting color that was impactful and that would translate well on stage with the bright lights and her fierce wardrobe,” Hazan says. “I ended up making the ends of her hair extremely golden blonde – not ashy – and her roots a few shades darker. It took a few hours to create but overall she is embracing a more natural look and texture.”

While the half-up style and tight ringlets are similar to the waist-grazing urban glam look she sported at Coachella, the On The Run II hue is noticeably warmer than the music festival’s ashier blonde. The new shade is the perfect complement to her sculpted golden goddess makeup look, complete with a neutral lip, shimmering eye and graphic winged liner.

Beyoncé's Wings Of Desire Unveiled At The V&A

May 11, 2018

"I do love butterflies", Grammy award-winning superstar Beyoncé tells me, "but the Papillon was something special". Today her dazzling Papillon will be unveiled as a permanent exhibit at the V&A Museum, donated it as a gift from her private collection, to the William & Judith Bollinger Gallery. The ring’s glittery green mosaic-style wings, created by London jeweller Glenn Spiro using 326 tsavorites, and not surprisingly, 342 brilliant-cut diamonds, "Yes, diamond’s are always a girl’s best friend," says Beyoncé, who spends time looking for distinctive jewels because, "they remind me of a special moment".

"She and Jay-Z buy beautiful things", explains Spiro, "Not just jewellery but also art; they are collectors." The three friends were hanging out together in Los Angeles, in a suite at the Peninsular Hotel, when the subject of the V&A seeking exciting examples of contemporary jewellery cropped up. "She immediately said she’d like to donate the jewel," he says.

When he was originally imagining the design in his West End atelier (once the showroom of couturier Norman Hartnell) he fashioned the stones flat. It wasn’t until he developed a titanium spring, wrapped like a diamond-set antennae over the knuckle, that the butterfly’s wings took flight and were able to flutter in time with Beyoncé’s finger.

"This titanium setting couldn’t have been done until recently and it’s so incredibly delicate," says Richard Edgcumbe, Senior Curator of the V&A Museum, as he turns the butterfly over in his gloved hands. "Of course it's close in spirit to the quivering en tremblant jewels of the 19th-Century which also needed human agency to make the diamonds quiver and come to life. Beyoncé is a role model in so many ways that having her personal jewel will be transforming to the gallery," Edgcumbe adjusts his tie, "to be honest we’re all quite star struck at the thought of it".

Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival - Weekend 2

April 22, 2018

Beyoncé returned to Coachella last night for the second weekend—and her second performance as headliner. The performance wasn't streamed this time, and despite an initial announcement, SiriusXM radio's live stream didn't include her set.

Visually the show was refreshed, with Beyoncé and her 100 dancers and band members washed in shades of magenta and virtually every ensemble the singer wore was swapped out for a new look.

The set-list, however, remained untouched and she was again joined by husband Jay-Z, former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as well as her sister Solange Knowles. There was an extra surprise, as the singer was also joined by J. Balvin for a quick run of "Mi Gente."

Beyoncé's Coachella merchandise collection was expanded with two new items, which are now available on the Coachella Pop-Up Store website.

Olivier Rousteing on Dressing Beyoncé in Balmain for Coachella 2018

April 15, 2018

It all started when stylist Marni Senofonte approached Olivier Rousteing after his Fall 2018 runway show for Balmain and explained to him that she was trying to find the right designer to create custom looks for Beyoncé’s upcoming Coachella performances. “Marni told me that the shows were all about survivors and that B was looking for something in a military style,” Rousteing says. “Our silhouettes and our sort of Mad Max, futuristic take on military looks for Fall were a perfect fit.” But, of course, Queen Bey was not about to wear something that was going to be mass-produced, so Rousting went to work with Senofonte and the rest of Beyoncé’s team to create two custom Balmain stage wardrobes, one for each of her performances tonight and next Saturday night. Rousteing also dressed the 200-some dancers on stage, as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, who reunited with Beyoncé for a Destiny’s Child throwback moment. Rousteing only had a few weeks to pull it all together, spending sleepless nights and long days creating the Egyptian-inspired gold-and-black cape with intricate embellishments; as well as a hologram-fabric black jacket and bodysuit; a collegiate-style embellished yellow hoodie with “BAE” written on the front; a camouflage and mesh minidress; and a top decorated with a 2018 Beyoncé crest that shows a bee, a raised fist, a panther, and an Egyptian goddess. “By the end it felt like Marni and I were in a relationship,” the designer said with a laugh. “We went to bed texting and emailing one another and woke up doing the same.”

Beyonce's Style Explored in New Book

August 31, 2016

Katie Baron’s Fashion + Music delves behind the scenes to understand the beginnings and making of Beyonce’s iconic style.

Written by former Dazed and Vogue contributor and trend forecaster, Katie Baron, the book gives a unique insight into how fashion and music, working as twin agents, have reflected but also influenced popular culture. It features exclusive interviews with the creatives behind some of the most iconic and era-defining looks of music’s greatest heroes, including Beyonce. It explores the power of fashion as a make-or-break tool within the music industry’s creative process and gives context to the sound.

There are two chapters featuring Beyonce and her work with B Akerlund and Jenke-Ahmed Tailly. The Akerlund chapter looks at their partnership for the campaign announcing the 2013 Mrs Carter World Tour, and the 2013 "Beyonce" visual album in particular the styling for "Superpower".

The Tailly chapter is solely focused on the partnership between Beyonce and her former creative director and that unique time period in Beyonce's career.

Check out exclusive pictures from the book in the gallery and remember to credit BeyonceOnline.org when sharing! The book is available now through Laurence King Publishing.

Beyoncé to Wear Francesco Scognamiglio in Milan

July 15, 2016

Francesco Scognamiglio has designed one of the outfits that Beyoncé will wear on Monday night in Milan on the stage of her “Formation” world tour.

The Neapolitan designer, who debuted his first haute couture collection in Paris earlier this month, realized a hooded bomber jacket entirely covered with Swarovski, as well as a pair of pants combining crystals with precious floral-inspired decorations.

“I wanted to interpret the energy, strength, femininity and talent of a real style icon through my personal point of view with the goal of creating an unforgettable look,” Scognamiglio said.

Since the early stages of his career, the designer has often worked with international celebrities, in particular Madonna, who wore a Scognamiglio outfit in her “Give It 2 Me” video, directed by Tom Munro in 2008.

Beyoncé—superstar, tastemaker, Givenchy flame-wearer—kicked off the U.S. leg of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in L.A. on June 28. She already debuted a wealth of flashy wares in Europe, like custom costumes by The Blonds, David Koma, Dsquared², and Emilio Pucci. But, for her Stateside performances, Mrs. Carter is adding a few sartorial surprises. And she tapped emerging Israeli designer Alon Livné to make them.

The pair ignited their creative relationship back in February after Beyoncé’s stylists, Ty Hunter and Raquel Smith, attended the 27-year-old’s debut New York Fashion Week presentation. Smith reported back to Bey, who quickly fell in love with with one of Livné’s metal-embellished Pre-Fall gowns, and requested customized versions—in red—for her and her backup dancers to wear on the tour.

Based in Tel Aviv, where he owns two stores, Livné returned to New York earlier this month to show his Resort ’14 collection to retailers. And not long after his arrival, he got a call. “They asked me if I could do something special,” Livné told Style.com—the “they” being Beyoncé’s stylists, and her mother, Tina. “I said yes, of course.” There was one problem, though—he had nowhere to work. But when you’re designing for pop culture’s reigning queen, nothing is impossible. Beyoncé’s camp set him up in an office with an industrial sewing machine, and he got to it. “I think the fact that they were willing to help me make these dresses, and to give me a studio, was so amazing,” offered Livné. “I mean, it’s Beyoncé. She can go anywhere from Chanel to Givenchy and pick whatever she likes, and she helped me.”

The fruit of his labor is a scarlet corset sprinkled with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS crystals, the sketch of which debuts exclusively above. The look will serve as Ms. Knowles’ show-opener during the tour. Livné also made the star a printed gown with metal details, and a bevy of costumes for her backup dancers. Read more...
Dennis Kolpodinos, who designed the blue catsuit for Beyonce's tour, confirmed that the singer is going to wear new costumes during the U.S. leg of The Mrs. Carter Show! The designer posted a photo of the outfit on his Instagram along with the caption: "The Mrs Carter show in U.S.A....new outfits soon #denniskolpodinos #beyonce #themrscartershow #mrscarter"

Zara Larsson, a Swedish singer, also posted pictures of her meeting with Beyonce on her Instagram.

Beyoncé continues to collaborate and expand her reach.

In celebration of The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, dress rental site Rent the Runway announced today it has partnered with the superstar for a special Beyoncé Boutique.

On a special page, Rentherunway.com/Beyonce, you can browse a selection of dresses hand-picked by Queen Bey.

They are not gowns along the lines of her amazing Met gala getup. These are short and sparkly party dresses. Prices are mostly $50 and $75, although one Moschino gold damask mini carries a rental price tag of $400.

"Making women feel confident and beautiful is something I've always been passionate about. That's why joining forces with Rent the Runway was so organic, says Beyoncé in the announcement. "It's more than just access to beautiful clothes; it's about making women look and feel their best."
'Dangerously In Love' and 'Crazy In Love' made chart history when both album and single simultaneously hit No 1 in the US and the UK (which hadn't happened since 1983!) Since then Beyonce has kicked music asre as Sasha Feirce, and now as MRS CARTER.

Today marks the start of Beyoncé's sold-out Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, but it's not the only thing the superstar launches this season. She's also got a huge campaign for H&M, shot in the Bahamas and featuring her new song, "Standing on the Sun," available on hm.com this May. One special piece Beyoncé models in the ads? A tie-dye bikini that's part of the H&M for Water collection, which donates 25% of sales to the international charity WaterAid.

Despite her busy (and oh-so-fabulous) life, Beyoncé told ELLE.com about her newest campaign. There are also two exclusive behind-the-scenes images from the fashion shoot, where legendary photographers Inez & Vinoodh and filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund collaborated with the pop star.

ELLE: Tell us about your experience shooting the campaign for H&M.
Beyoncé: I loved shooting the campaign in the Bahamas. We shot on a beach outside of Nassau and the weather was perfect. The shoot was filled with vibrant colors and was inspired by the glamour of the late '70s.

ELLE: How was it to work with the director Jonas Åkerlund?
Beyoncé: It was incredible to work with Jonas again. We had a great time shooting the TV commercial for the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, so I was looking forward to working with him again. He has such a great imagination and I love seeing his visions come to life.

ELLE: Where does your own fierce and fabulous style come from?
Beyoncé: Well, thanks for the compliment! I think my style comes from watching my mother from the time I was a little girl. She was so stylish. She was the first person I saw mix high-end pieces with more accessible styles and make it all work. I'm also inspired by my sister ; I love her bold approach. Read more...
Emilio Pucci creative director Peter Dundas says that there is nothing quite like designing stage costumes for Vogue cover girl Beyoncé. The designer created five looks for the singer to wear during her Mrs Carter Show tour, which kicked off last night in Belgrade, Serbia.

"Doing Beyoncé's costumes makes a designer want to run home and sketch," he told us. "She is one of the sweetest stars to work with. She knows what she wants and what will work for her, but she respects creativity. I thought she looked incredible in the costumes, but it's difficult to mess things up with her. She's one of those girls who look even more beautiful without make-up."

Dundas used his most recent autumn/winter 2013-14 collection as his starting point, an offering that the star herself was keen on. The designer altered his catwalk creations to cater to Beyoncé's criteria as a performer.

"She liked the Pucci girl look and vibe of the last show, but we made unique couture versions to make it extra special and also to suit her needs as a dancer," he explained. "Doing stage costumes is a little different than a show - it's like a high voltage version of the runway. For certain tableaux, there were specific needs in terms of colour and, of course, she has to be able to change in 59 seconds. That's even less than a quick change in a runway show."

Beyonce Knowles' stylist, Ty Hunter, says that the singer makes his job "so easy" - because she has the ability to make everything look good. Having worked with the Vogue cover girl since her Destiny's Child days, he has been responsible for the outfits in all her many music videos, as well as her more glamorous red carpet attire.

"Her style has evolved - she's a trendsetter," he said. "We haven't done it yet, but I think that she could just throw a trash bag on and make it look amazing. My job has been so easy because she's an amazing person with an amazing spirit and she just knows how to carry anything that you put on her and make it sell."

The pair worked closely together on Knowles' new Pepsi MAX advert, which looks back at the various fashion makeovers that she's undergone throughout her extensive career - from the pink bejewelled Bootylicious ensemble, to that black Single Ladies leotard.

"I was just in awe going back through some of the old looks, like Crazy in Love, reflecting back on costumes that were 11,12 even 13 years old. It's amazing to see her back then," he said. "We were watching it together like, "Oh, the Bootylicious costume! Oh, the Deja Vu costume!" The whole concept is really cool - it allows people to really see everything that she's accomplished. We're constantly on the go and thinking about the next project and the next project, so to actually see everything we've done in one body of work is really awesome."

It seems like every fashionable celeb has a pair of trendy wedge sneakers these days, but leave it to Beyoncé to design a killer pair all her own!

The star stepped up her style game and lent her expertise to shoe customizers PMK to create a custom pair of Isabel Marant kicks (aptly named the "King Bey" sneaker.)

These extraordinary sneakers are also extremely exotic, constructed of rare stingray, ostrich, calf hair, crocodile and anaconda skins, just to name a few.

Um, wow!

The luxe shoes are a creamy ivory color and awfully cute, and best of all, they offer an elevated wedge for a subtle boost in height for Bey's biggest fans (with sizable shopping budgets to match!)

No word on exactly how much a pretty pair will set you back, but you can contact sales@pmkcustoms.com for more details.

Beyonce with a dash of Sasha Fierce! Beyonce's jaw-dropping Super Bowl halftime show look required a balance between flirtatious and glam. To create the right hairstyle for her fierce performance in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 3, Beyonce turned to beauty expert and entrepreneur Kim Kimble for help.

The 31-year-old "Crazy in Love" singer's hair guru revealed to Us Weekly the "four key items" she used to create Beyonce's look.

1. Brazilian Nut & Acai Berry Serum ($12.99)
2. Natural Bamboo Grooming Brush by Kimble Hair Care ($21.96)
3. Curling Iron
4. Elnett Holding Spray (L'Oreal, $14.99)

"To create Beyonce's soft glam look, I began by creating a deep middle part in Beyonce's hair," Kimble told Us. "I then used the curling wand and began to curl her hair in a vertical pattern."

"Once I completed curling her hair into the desired curl pattern, I gently brushed the curls out by using a natural bamboo grooming brush by Kimble Hair Care," she explained. "This created a really nice finger-wave pattern."

To smooth out the look, Kimble used the Brazilian Nut and Acai Berry Serum by Kimble Hair Care

"This refined the curl pattern ensuring a seamless finish," she said. "Lastly, I used Elnett Holding Spray by L'Oreal to set the look and the result will be glam, soft, bold and Beyonce."
My fellow Beyoncé freaks will relish the information I recently learned about her from designer Rubin Singer, who dressed her for a private Vegas concert on New Year's Eve: She's as lovely, polite, and generous as you were hoping. In fact, Singer says she and sister Solange Knowles are "the only celebrities that always dry clean and send clothes back in a box, with a hand-written thank you note. They are true ladies."

The process of creating a custom piece for Bey is as hectic as you might think--Singer had just two weeks to design the unitard, have the fabric embroidered in India, shipped back, put together, and customized at the fitting (which, incidentally, took place in the bathroom at the Alvin Ailey dance studio). "When you do a fitting with her, she doesn't keep you waiting half a day like some celebrities do," he says. "When she's there, she's present and honest and grateful."

That's not the only upside of designing for Beyoncé: "She and I have had a working relationship now for about five years," Singer says, "and in that time, I've been invited to every concert she's had in New York, she's introduced me to people she thinks I should work with, she and her team are just incredibly generous people."

Makeup artist Wei Lang has been in the business of getting people pretty — from skin care to facials to makeup — for over 30 years. Lately, she's been working with Tina Knowles and, as with any good momager mother, mama Knowles passed Lang's handiwork down to her daughter, Beyoncé. The makeup artist and facialist, who only does house calls, has now been tending to B's stay-at-home-mom face since spring, but only for big, red-carpet events; the singer prefers to do her own makeup for everything else (like when she's sitting courtside with Jay-Z at a Nets game). Read on to hear about Lang's favorite looks, plus some products tips for Beyoncé.

What type of foundation do you use on Beyoncé?
I don’t really use a lot of makeup on her. The one thing I do when she goes out is contour (because of the photography) but not too heavily. She has flawless skin, so I don't really want to cover that up.

How about face shimmer or highlighting products?
I really only use that on her forehead and under her eyes for a little highlighting. Every now and then, I’ll use a shimmer product.

What's her beauty must-have?
She really does like liners, and she asks for that a lot, and lashes. And I always use mink lases on her. They look amazing. I use strips by Velour called "Are Those Real?"and I got her really into it, so she buys them by the ton. Read more...
Beyoncé's Dangerously In Love Album Cover
"That photograph just stands out to me the most," Markus told InStyle.com of the image. "We captured her transition from Destiny's Child to solo artist, and basically the birth moment of her solo career. People think Beyoncé is a diva, but she’s very humble, personable, and sweet. Through all these years, even at the height of her success, she always remembered the day we shot this album cover, and she has said many times that it's her favorite picture."
