No ID Reveals Beyoncé's "Church Girl" Beat Was Originally For JAY-Z

Klaudia//October 24, 2023
No ID has revealed that Beyoncé’s Renaissance track “Church Girl” was originally produced for Jay-Z.

While interviewing with Stereogum recently, the super-producer shared a funny story of how Bey “stole” her husband’s beat.

“I was at house one day, and I had some equipment with me, and I just started making a beat,” he explained. “And he was rapping to it. It was for him. And he just put it on the computer. I never thought about it again, I literally forgot about it. And then one day, I just get a call. When you get two to three calls from people in a row, you know it’s something.”

He continued, “‘Hey, do you have this idea? Beyonce got somethin’ to it,'” he recalled Hov telling him. “And Jay jokingly tells me, ‘Man, she stole my beat. She was like, “Remember that idea in the computer that you didn’t finish?”’ And I went to see her , we talked about the record, we listened to her album.”

No ID also shared that “Church Girl” was one of the few songs on the album that Bey wanted to sound different from the other house tracks.

“When she was doing a house album, I was like, ‘Aw man, I wanna do some house,’ and she goes, ‘Nah, we got this “Church Girl” record,'” he said. “I was a house DJ before I did Hip-Hop. Actually, the first records I did were house, at like 13 years old.”

“It’s art, it’s there,” No ID added of the single. “Argue, say whatever you want, think what you want. I know people that don’t like it, I know people that love it and swear by it. Usually when music is divisive that means it’s something new. To each their own, some people like raspberry ice cream too.”

Halle Bailey Reflects On Advice Beyoncé Gave Her

Klaudia//October 24, 2023
On October 17, Halle Bailey walked away with the 2023 Gen-Z Game-Changer Award at the Glamour Women of the Year ceremony. Taking place at London’s One Marylebone, the event highlighted those “who are truly game-changing in their field and celebrating feminism in all its forms.”

On October 18, the outlet published a lengthy op-ed by the singer and actress. Among the topics covered, Halle discussed her rise to fame, signing with Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment, working on her solo project, and the realities of being a Black woman.

In the editorial, Halle reflected on the words of encouragement she and Chlöe Bailey received from Mary Mary in 2021. Occuring at the Black Music Collective event during Grammy Week, the “Shackles” duo told them, “ don’t have to prove anything to anyone but yourselves and God.”

Halle added, “Beyoncé gave us similar advice when we played some of our earlier songs to her. Our sound at the time was more experimental, a melting pot of different influences and genres that couldn’t be put in a box. ‘The work that you are doing is so spectacular,’ she said. ‘Don’t worry about trying to dumb yourself down. The world is gonna have to catch up to you.'”

Beyoncé Attends Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' Film Premiere

Klaudia//October 12, 2023
Beyoncé made a surprise appearance at Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour‘s film premiere Wednesday — and Swift could not contain her excitement on social media.

Shortly after the debut of her film at The Grove’s AMC Theaters in Los Angeles, Swift shared an Instagram video of herself posing for photos alongside the Renaissance icon. Earlier in the night, the two superstars posed for photos on the red carpet.

“I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without @beyonce‘s influence,” Swift captioned the post, where Beyoncé could be seen smiling and tossing popcorn next to her. “The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility.”

“She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale,” Swift continued, referencing her Fearless track, “Today Was a Fairytale.”

On TikTok, Swift shared the same video and mentioned Beyoncé’s song “Break My Soul” as “Halo” played in the background. “My soul = broken. In the best way possible,” Swift wrote. “Honestly can’t even remember my own name.”

Beyoncé’s publicist Yvette Noel-Schure also shared an image of the two stars on the red carpet on Instagram, captioning the image, “Beautiful night in LA.” For the event, Beyoncé wore a black bodysuit with a chrome bustier and sunglasses, while Swift rocked a 1989-themed light blue dress.

Beyoncé Re-Sets Monthly Boxscore Record With $179 Million in August

Klaudia//October 1, 2023
In July, Beyoncé set the record for the highest one-month gross in the history of Billboard Boxscore (dating back to 1985) with $127.6 million. That haul narrowly edged out Bad Bunny’s $123.7 million from September of last year. But immediately after breaking ground, Queen Bey re-asserts herself, and the Renaissance World Tour, as an all-time dominant Boxscore force. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, Beyoncé’s 14 shows in August earned $179.3 million.

Improving upon her existing record by 40%, Beyoncé distances herself from the pack, notching two of just four $100 million months since the charts launched in February 2019. Bad Bunny and Harry Styles achieved the other two.

After leading Top Tours in May and July, Beyoncé scores a third month at No. 1. That puts her in four-way tie with Ed Sheeran, the Rolling Stones and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Bad Bunny spent four months at No. 1, and Elton John leads with seven.

With her freshly extended earnings record, Beyoncé claims the month’s highest attendance total for the first time, after falling short of Coldplay in May and The Weeknd in July. Her 14 shows sold 697,000 tickets.

After crowning Top Boxscores in July with two shows at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, Beyoncé ups the ante with three shows at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The triple-header grossed $39.8 million and sold 156,000 tickets on Aug. 11-12 and 14. That puts it among the top 10 grossing headline engagements ever, and the third highest in North America. The only two bigger reports are courtesy of Harry Styles, with 15-show runs at Madison Square Garden and the Kia Forum, making for an apples-to-oranges comparison to Beyoncé’s three-night stadium sweep.

Beyonce in Final Talks to Release 'Renaissance' Concert Film Through AMC Theatres

Klaudia//October 1, 2023
A film based on Beyonce‘s smash hit Renaissance World Tour is in advanced talks to distribute directly to AMC Theatres, sources with knowledge of the project told Variety.

Mega-agency CAA held preliminary talks with major studios and streamers two weeks ago, another source added, urging the players to be ready to bid on a project the icon has been developing for years — one that would include elements of her top-grossing 2023 live shows, parts of the long-gestating visual album “Renaissance” and a documentary-style account of making the record and building out the tour (Blue Ivy Carter cameos surely to come).

The project is eyeing a Dec. 1 wide release, added insiders. By its end, the Renaissance World Tour is expected to gross close to $560 million in ticket sales, reports said.

A spokesperson for AMC Theatres did not respond to multiple requests for comment. CAA had no comment on the matter. A spokesperson for Beyonce could not be reached for comment.

The Beyonce deal follows on the heels of one Taylor Swift brokered for: a straightforward concert film based on her widely-attended Eras Tour. The terms are incredibly favorable for Swift, reports have said, who self-financed the project and will take more than half of box receipts. Beyonce will receive the same arrangement, and stands to pocket more than 50% of the worldwide grosses, an insider added. The industry is tracking Swift’s AMC experiment to open north of $100 million in October.
