Beyonce gets rare horse fly named after her

Klaudia//January 13, 2012
Australian researchers have named a rare horse fly after Beyonce in honour of its impressive golden behind. The Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae fly, found in far north Queensland and widely considered a pest, has been named in recognition of the unusual gold patch on its abdomen. The fly was first collected in 1981 – the year of the singer's birth. Bryan Lessard from Australia's science agency, CSIRO, said the insect's behind made it the "all-time diva of flies". "It was the unique dense golden hairs on the fly's abdomen that led me to name this fly in honour of the performer Beyoncé as well as giving me the chance to demonstrate the fun side of taxonomy – the naming of species," he said. The name complies with the rules set by the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature, which allows for species to receive names honouring people, including celebrities. Other species dubbed in honour of celebrities include a frog, Hyla stingi, named after Sting and a spider, Pachygnatha zappa, named after Frank Zappa. A paper describing the Scaptia beyonceae horse fly, which are considered a pest but help to pollinate a wide variety of plants, has been published in the Australian Journal of Entomology. "Most Australian Scaptia species have been described, however these five new species of a sub-group have been housed in Australian collections since the group was last studied in the 1960s," Mr Lessard said. The CSIRO has contacted Beyonce for a response but is yet to hear back.

Jay-Z and Beyonce to Shoot Music Video in Outer Space?

Klaudia//January 13, 2012
Amidst buzzing news about the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, it's reported that Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles have a plan to film a music video in outer space. Rumor has it, the new parents will shoot the clip inside one of Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic crafts. "The label people have been talking about making a music video in space," a source told The Sun. "Beyonce and Jay-Z seemed the obvious option." The source furthermore claimed that "everything is being done to make it happen." The flights to the outer space on the six-seater ships are expected to launch later this year. It will cost GBP780,000 each and blast passengers 70,000 ft into Earth's atmosphere. When passengers experience six minutes of weightlessness, the music video reportedly would be filmed.

Beyonce's Hospital Room

Klaudia//January 12, 2012
Lenox Hill Hospital constructed a suite for VIPs which looks like a Four Seasons penthouse ... and the room was christened Saturday when Beyonce gave birth. TMZ has obtained photos of the room where Blue Ivy came into this world, and it's baller. There are 4 flat screen TV's, state of the art electronics, a kitchenette, nice art, mahogany walls and plush furnishings. And take a look at the bed where Jay Z got some shut eye! Sources connected with the hospital tell TMZ ... the suite was not constructed specifically for Beyonce, but it was always intended that Beyonce would be the first patient to use it. Jennifer Hudson Offers Beyonce Parenting Advice

Klaudia//January 12, 2012
Jennifer Hudson has some sage words of parenting advice for Beyonce, who's still in week one of mothering baby Blue Ivy. The Weight Watchers spokeswoman, who welcomed her own bundle of joy, David Otunga, Jr., in 2009, says she knows exactly what her number-one tip would be for her Dreamgirls costar. "Girl, get your sleep!" Hudson, 30, said during a Good Housekeeping event in New York City. "We talked about this when I had my munchkin. It goes so fast. She's going to look up and 's going to be six months. Next thing you know, she's going to be walking." The Oscar winner also suggests Beyonce treasure every moment with baby Blue. "Embrace it. Especially because of the lives we live, a lot of times other people have to care for themselves and you have to have that mommy time," said Hudson.

Blue Ivy Youngest Person Ever To Appear On A Billboard Chart

Klaudia//January 12, 2012
If you guessed that Baby Carter would grow up to be a star because of her ubiquitous, famous parents, you were probably right. If you anticipated her first song being released in her tweens, a la Willow Smith, you were dead wrong. Try within hours of her birth. Blue Ivy Carter, the bundle of joy brought into the world by megastar Beyoncé (with a little help from fellow famous dad Jay-Z) Saturday (Jan. 7), becomes the youngest person ever credited with gracing a Billboard chart, as Jay-Z's newly-recorded studio cut "Glory" -- officially billed as "featuring B.I.C.," an abbreviation of Blue Ivy Carter -- begins on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 74. (For historical purposes, this week's Billboard charts are dated Jan. 21). Taking a page out of Stevie Wonder's proverbial book on how to be a sentimental musical dad, Jay-Z recorded his precious girl's first seconds of life -- her breathing, cries and coos -- just as Wonder did on his iconic song "Isn't She Lovely," written for his then-newborn daughter Aisha. Why does B.I.C. claim the mark for youngest charted artist and not Wonder's girl? Two reasons: young Aisha was never officially credited on "Lovely" and the song did not reach a Billboard chart until Jan. 29, 1977 (when it entered Adult Contemporary at its No. 23 peak), almost two years after she was born. Blue Ivy Carter/B.I.C. also benefits from the era in which she born. Technology today allows an advantage in that Jay-Z was able to record and release "Glory" less than 48 after her birth. After almost 72 years of numbers, positions, peaks, lows, gains and debuts -- the first national Billboard chart was published the week of July 27, 1940 -- the little princess born to the reigning king and queen of R&B/hip-hop breaks the mold almost concurrently with her arrival into Beyonce's anticipating, loving arms. "Glory" arrives as the week's highest new entry on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with 1.7 million audience impressions on 54 radio stations, according to Nielsen BDS. In a stroke of chart kismet, the song marks Jay-Z's 107th career entry on the survey, mirroring the Jan. 7 birth date - in other words (or, um, numbers), 1/07 - of Blue Ivy.

Jay-Z and Beyonce donate baby gifts to charity

Klaudia//January 12, 2012
New parents Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles are donating their baby gifts to charity. The superstar couple have been inundated with presents since welcoming their daughter Blue Ivy into the world on Saturday (07.01.12) and while they are very grateful they want to give the majority of items to those less fortunate. A source said: "They've been sent literally hundreds of gifts in the past few days. Oprah Winfrey gave a huge trunk of children's books and others like P. Diddy, Kanye West, Rihanna and Mariah Carey have all been sending luxurious baby treats. "Jay-Z and Beyonce have decided to donate a massive selection of the presents to local charities for young mothers. They've already got the most precious gift - their new baby daughter - so they want to help out other parents who haven't been as fortunate." However, there is one item the couple want to keep for their daughter - a diamond-encrusted dummy. The source added to the Daily Star newspaper: "A close friend of theirs in the music industry gave them a diamond-encrusted Cartier dummy - it must have cost $20,000. Blue has officially got her first piece of bling!"

Beyonce, Jay-Z & Blue Ivy leave Lenox Hill Hospital

Klaudia//January 11, 2012
New parents Beyonce and Jay-Z and their bouncing bundle of joy, baby Blue, left Lenox Hill Hospital Tuesday, officials there confirmed. A procession of vehicles with blacked-out windows made a speedy exit from the upper East Side hospital’s side gate in the wee hours of Tuesday, witnesses said. Two black SUVs motored quickly out of the facility’s E. 76th St. loading dock at 1:30 a.m. Moments later, a van parked on a nearby corner reversed into the same loading dock, and the large roll-down gate closed. The gate reopened a few minutes later and the van drove out, turned the wrong way on the one-way 76th St., and then headed north on Park Ave. One of the two SUVs blocked traffic on Park Ave. so the van would not be impeded. The second SUV pulled in behind the van, apparently to prevent anyone from following the music icons and their newborn daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. It was “very precise, very military-like,” one witness said. “Immediately, security personnel began leaving the hospital.” Beyonce, 30, checked into the hospital Friday night using the name Ingrid Jackson, a hospital staffer told the Daily News. The couple brought their own bodyguards. The child was born Saturday night on the sixth floor, near the neonatal intensive-care unit, sources said.

Solange Launches Into Rant Over Beyonce Baby 'Lies'

Klaudia//January 11, 2012
It's meant to be one of the happiest times in a family's life - to welcome a newborn baby, but Aunty Solange Knowles has been left saddened and upset with the lies and rumours that have spread about her sister Beyonce and her baby Blue. Since the birth of Blue Ivy on Saturday (January 7) rumours about Jay-Z and Beyonce's $1 million spending spree has hit the internet, and the couple have even been slammed for allegedly hiring out a wing of the Lenox Hill hospital in New York - a claim that the hospital denies. Now Solange has had enough her family being "slandered, lied on (sic), and ridiculed". In a series of tweets yesterday, Solange wrote: "It has really gotten out of hand. I've been doing my best at keeping my mouth shut... but the ignorance is really sad and upsetting. "We are supposed to be super human and watch people we love get slandered, lied on (sic), and ridiculed. It is one of The hardest things to accept. "In any other workplace... if someone directly tells your (sic) mother or sister is a liar and a fake etc... you would naturally express yourself. However, the pure happiness and joy I've witnessed and experienced helps me to keep my mouth shut."

Kelly Rowland Buys Bob Marley Onesie for Blue Ivy

Klaudia//January 11, 2012
One love! Kelly Rowland is wasting no time spoiling pals Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s new baby girl. Just three days after the couple welcomed daughter Blue Ivy Carter, the U.K. X Factor judge popped into upscale kids boutique, Lucky Wang, in New York City to snap up a green long-sleeved onesie ($24) featuring Bob Marley’s iconic image. It seems the former Destiny’s Child member was able to figure out what to get the world’s most famous baby despite confessing she had no clue a few months ago. “I have no idea what I’m going to buy Beyoncé at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible,” Rowland told Bang Showbiz last November.

Diane Warren Dishes On Beyonce

Klaudia//January 11, 2012
MTV: In addition to the Grammy-nominated songs, what else are you working on?

Warren: I’m kind of all over the place. I did the Beyonce song on her album, "I Was Here," and I'm working with her on the music for “A Star Is Born.” I think she’s going to be great in that movie.

MTV: Tell us a little bit more about working with Beyonce on "I'm Not Here"

Warren: It was really fun. I was showing her the song, it was a cool moment to hear her singing it, learning. ...I have to say, is awesome. She is such a nice person. I would do anything for her. I was there when she sang my song that’s on her album and seeing that process, that's a good story too. I literally called Jay-Z and played it on the phone for him. I played it for him, he had her call me and long story short she was in the studio two days later. The album was supposed to be mastered that week, so they held it up for the song. Seeing her work ethic, she was there for three hours singing better than anybody and I said, "Okay, that’s amazing," and she said, "No I’m just getting started. I’m going to go get dinner and come back." It’s like, "Holy s**t." It’s not an accident when people are that successful. It’s a) you’re talented and b) the work ethic that separates the great from the good. She’s a great.

Jay-Z reveals Beyonce suffered miscarriage that ended earlier pregnancy

Klaudia//January 10, 2012
Jay-Z is celebrating the birth of his baby girl with an emotional new song that reveals the secret sorrow of a prior miscarriage. The doting dad, 42, gushed over the arrival of Blue Ivy Carter in the song “Glory” posted Monday to his website, dubbing the child the answer to his prayers after the devastating loss of wife Beyoncé Knowles’ earlier pregnancy. “Last time the miscarriage was so tragic. We was afraid you’d disappear, but nah baby you magic,” he raps, speaking about their private pain for the first time. He says “God makes no mistakes” and “there you have it, s--- happens,” finally conceding that everyone goes through “stuff,” even superstars. “The most amazing feeling I feel. Words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real,” he raps in the chorus. “Baby I paint the sky blue. My greatest creation was you.” Hours after the sentimental song’s release, the ultra-private power couple issued a joint statement offering details of their Saturday delivery. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, says in his song that Beyonce conceived in Paris. He also predicted the lucky tyke will be shopping on London’s famous Savile Row as a toddler. “Get ready for Part II, a younger smarter faster me,” he raps. “Hard not to spoil you rotten, looking like little me,” he says. The touching tribute ends with the cries of a newborn baby — likely the first sounds from the couple’s first child. The song says it features B. I. C., the baby’s initials. “You’re a child of destiny. You’re the child of my destiny,” he raps. “You’re my child with the child from Destiny’s Child. That’s a hell of a recipe.”

J.Lo: Beyonce Will Be a 'Great Mom'

Klaudia//January 10, 2012
The entertainment world received some exciting news this weekend as Beyonce welcomed her first child, Blue Ivy Carter. We caught up with fellow music icon Jennifer Lopez, who just heard the happy announcement, and the mother of two lavished her praise on the new mom. "The best part of life is about to begin," said Lopez fondly. "I just wish her the best. I know she's going to love it and be a great mom."

Hospital denies Beyonce rented a whole floor for birth

Klaudia//January 10, 2012
This much everyone seems to agree on: Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed a "beautiful" baby girl named Blue Ivy Carter Saturday night at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital. But when it comes to reports that the couple and their private security detail had the entire sixth floor on lockdown, there's a difference of opinion. On one side there's Tanisha Newton, a 24-year-old expectant single mother of two. Newton tells E! News that she and her two young children were asked to leave the floor on Saturday night despite her own advanced pregnancy (she says she is due on Jan. 19). "I was almost restrained and so were my children. It was bad because look who they are. They been pushing, tugging, , 'Ma'am you have to move. This is a secluded area," vented Newton. Newton says that she also got a brief view of baby Blue, shortly after the delivery. "I don't remember the time but was coming out of the room and were protecting her like Michael Jackson's babies," said Newton. "I was really trying to see but I just caught a glimpse...she's beautiful." Newton wasn't alone in having gripes with what has been reported to be intense security. New dad Neil Coulson spoke out in the New York Daily News that he was kicked out of the neonatal intensive care unit on multiple occasions while visiting with his premature twin daughters. Per TMZ, some other new moms turning up for breastfeeding classes have even threatened to sue the hospital over their treatment. However, according to another hospital visitor, things weren't really that bad. A woman who had just visited a relative in the pediatric ward and wished to remain anonymous told E! News that she witnessed a number of individuals have run-ins with Beyonce and Jay-Z's security — presumably because they were trying to sneak too close to the action. But as long as visitors had appointments, they were allowed through.

Michelle Williams: I Don't Need to Congratulate Beyoncé on Twitter

Klaudia//January 10, 2012
Rihanna did it. Gwyneth Paltrow and Russell Simmons did it. So why didn't Michelle Williams, a member of Destiny's Child, Tweet congratulations to Beyoncé and Jay-Z on the arrival of their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, over the weekend? Because she'd rather do it in person. "Let's get ONE thing straight....I do NOT have to say congrats to someone when they're NOT on twitter...ESPECIALLY when I talk or email them all the time....or when I'll be physically present as well," Williams wrote in response to a user (whose page is NSFW) who suggested she needed to send a message of congratulations on the social networking site. "My friendship with people aren't always for twitter display," Williams continued. "Respect that and get a LIFE!!! Enjoy this FINE day!!! God bless!!!!" In a follow-up Tweet, Williams said, "This is a beautiful, precious, private time between two people and excitement is to be expected but NOT disrespect!" And to end the mini-rant, Williams used this hash tag: "#churchdismissed."

Gwyneth Paltrow Among Stars Welcoming Beyonce's Baby

Klaudia//January 8, 2012
Ever since news of their baby's arrival broke in the wee hours of Sunday morning (January 8), Beyonce and Jay-Z's bundle of joy has ignited a firestorm of Twitter activity and conversation. The power couple welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy Carter, at Lenox Hospital in New York City on Saturday night, with the Houston Chronicle reporting that "baby and mom are doing just fine" after a planned C-section. While Beyonce and Jay's daughter was first reported to have been named Ivy Blue, further reports tell that the surely adorable girl has actually has been doted with the given name of Blue Ivy. Sending her well-wishes while helping clear the air when it comes to the name confusion, actress Gwyneth Paltrow first tweeted, "Welcome to the world, Blue. We love you already." When one of Paltrow's followers asked whether the baby was named "Ivy Blue or Blue Ivy," Gwyn responded by messaging, "It's Blue Ivy!' Meanwhile, Rihanna was one of the first to hop on Twitter to proclaim her love, as she wrote, "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih" Also of note, Beyonce's sister Solange offered up a short and sweet tweet, as she happily told, "The most beautiful girl in the world." Beyonce And Jay-Z Welcome Baby Girl

Klaudia//January 8, 2012
We were so ready for this belly, and now we're so psyched to meet this baby! Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed a daughter Saturday night in New York, the little one's arrival coming via scheduled C-section, mutliple sources confirm to E! News. And the pop 'n' hip-hop princess' name? Drumroll, please... Blue Ivy Carter! (At least that's what Jay-Z is telling pals at this point—the couple's reps have not immediately responded to calls seeking comment.) Friend and music mogul Russell Simmons was among the first to celebrate the arrival, tweeting the new parents: "congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z." Rihanna gave baby Blue a warm welcome, tweeting: "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih." Hey, we're happy to find out this much, considering Blue's parents didn't even confirm to the world that they were married until...Wait? Did they ever really confirm it? (Public records ultimately told the tale.) Anyway, the "Crazy in Love" duo tied the knot in April 2008 after roughly six years of dating. Considering they waited another three years to have a baby, you can tell this is one couple that thinks things through! Beyoncé memorably revealed that she was pregnant onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in August. And her hubby certainly seems to be in the right head space, telling E! News in November that he hoped to be the kind of father whose children could talk to him about anything. "Your child could come to you and have any type of conversation. I always hope for that kind of open relationship," he said. Just imagine the rap sessions father and daughter will be having a few years from now!

Beyonce’s Still Pregnant!

Klaudia//January 6, 2012
Last night we found Beyonce out and about in NYC! That’s right, the singer has NOT given birth yet – and she’s still up and around, taking care of business! When we caught up with Bey she was visiting an office building in Manhattan. Her bodyguards tried to stop us from taking her photo, but Beyonce graciously told them, “Leave them alone, it’s fine.” There’s a story circulating that Beyone flew to her hometown of Houston to give birth – clearly our photos show that’s not the case. Bey was sporting tight jeans and a fitted blazer along with a bump-warming flowing scarf. Can you believe anyone could look this gorgeous at nine months pregnant? The woman’s in heels!
