Beyonce in Final Talks to Release 'Renaissance' Concert Film Through AMC Theatres

Klaudia//October 1, 2023
A film based on Beyonce‘s smash hit Renaissance World Tour is in advanced talks to distribute directly to AMC Theatres, sources with knowledge of the project told Variety.

Mega-agency CAA held preliminary talks with major studios and streamers two weeks ago, another source added, urging the players to be ready to bid on a project the icon has been developing for years — one that would include elements of her top-grossing 2023 live shows, parts of the long-gestating visual album “Renaissance” and a documentary-style account of making the record and building out the tour (Blue Ivy Carter cameos surely to come).

The project is eyeing a Dec. 1 wide release, added insiders. By its end, the Renaissance World Tour is expected to gross close to $560 million in ticket sales, reports said.

A spokesperson for AMC Theatres did not respond to multiple requests for comment. CAA had no comment on the matter. A spokesperson for Beyonce could not be reached for comment.

The Beyonce deal follows on the heels of one Taylor Swift brokered for: a straightforward concert film based on her widely-attended Eras Tour. The terms are incredibly favorable for Swift, reports have said, who self-financed the project and will take more than half of box receipts. Beyonce will receive the same arrangement, and stands to pocket more than 50% of the worldwide grosses, an insider added. The industry is tracking Swift’s AMC experiment to open north of $100 million in October.

The resolution highlights this gesture as a tribute to Beyoncé and her tour for several reasons: acknowledging the significant positive influence it exerts on the local economy, her steadfast dedication and service to the community, and commemorating her numerous achievements as an artist.

Beyoncé appears at Houston celebration for upcoming Knowles-Rowland House

Klaudia//September 23, 2023
Before entertaining her hometown with a pair of concerts scheduled for this weekend, one of the world's biggest pop superstars took part in an event that illustrates her love for Houston and support for its most underprivileged residents.

Beyoncé, whose Renaissance World Tour will make stops Saturday and Sunday at NRG Stadium, was in Midtown on Friday morning to celebrate a forthcoming housing development for the homeless that will bear her name and that of a former bandmate. The Knowles-Rowland House will provide permanent supportive housing to 31 people in a three-story, 21,000-square foot facility to be built on the campus of St. John's Downtown Church – where the families of Beyoncé and fellow Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland have long been congregants.

Beyoncé Celebrates Birthday on Private Island with Friends and Family

Klaudia//September 16, 2023
Beyoncé is still in the middle of her hugely successful "Renaissance" tour, but that didn't stop her from taking a little break to get some serious privacy to celebrate her birthday.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ the singer rented out a spot called Mermaid Bay -- a string of 11 villas located within The Brando, a private island resort for the ultra-rich in French Polynesia.

Our sources say Beyoncé and crew arrived at the property September 5, and stayed at least through Friday the 8th ... with adults and kids all in tow.

As for her accommodations, we're told Beyoncé and Jay-Z stayed in the Bay's main residence -- a 4-bedroom villa that goes for around $20K per night -- and the rest of their group stayed among the 10 other villas ... which have 1, 2 and 3 bedroom options.

Of course, Beyoncé's actual birthday was September 4, and she celebrated it with Diana Ross and about 70,000 fans -- so the private island retreat looks like the perfect destination to unwind before taking on her 42nd year.

Beyoncé was back on tour in Vancouver Monday night ... so it's back on the grind after some serious rest and relaxation.

Diana Ross Sings 'Happy Birthday' to Beyoncé at Star-Studded Renaissance Show

Klaudia//September 8, 2023
An entire galaxy of stars was in attendance at the Monday (Sept. 4) Renaissance World Tour show in Los Angeles to help Beyoncé celebrate her 42nd birthday — including none other than Diana Ross, who led the crowd in a dazzling performance of “Happy Birthday.”

The 79-year-old legend first appeared onstage in front of 60,000 screaming fans during one of the Renaissance World Tour’s regularly scheduled intermissions, which features Ross’ 1976 smash “Love Hangover” as an interlude between songs. Usually, it’s Bey’s backup singers who perform the transition — but this time, Ross herself was on hand to do the honors.

Afterward, Bey ran onstage to give the “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” vocalist a tearful hug. Then, encouraging fans to hold up their phone flashlights, Ross led the crowd at SoFi Stadium in singing “Happy Birthday” to the pop star.

Beyoncé Shopping New Renaissance Visual Album That Was Shot in Secret By Nadia Lee Cohen

Klaudia//September 2, 2023
Beyoncé is coming to Los Angeles this weekend to play three sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium as part of her Renaissance World Tour, and there will surely be plenty of Hollywood executives in the crowd — including some lucky executives who have already seen a piece of Beyoncé-produced media that the general public does not yet know exists.

To that end, Above the Line has exclusively learned that Queen Bey and her Parkwood Entertainment banner are shopping a new Renaissance visual album to studios and streamers, though there haven’t been any takers just yet.

The film was directed by Nadia Lee Cohen, a British artist, photographer, and rising filmmaker who has shot numerous magazine covers and music videos, having worked with artists such as Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Katy Perry, and Kali Uchis, and brands including Adidas, Balenciaga, Gucci, and Valentino.

Sources say that Renaissance is “artsy” and in line with Beyoncé’s other visual albums Lemonade and Black Is King, but also “weirder,” saying it hasn’t been Disney-fied like the latter film, which won an Emmy for its striking costumes.

It's official: Beyoncé can add another title to her already lengthy resume — mayor.

During her concert, Beyoncé, 41, paused to express her appreciation for the honor.

"I'm so excited. I'm so happy to be on stage. Y'alls faces are so beautiful. You know today's special because today...I am the mayor," she told the crowd in a fan-captured TikTok video.

She added, "This is my gratitude tour. I don't take any of this for granted. I know after 25 years I'm still able to do what I love, and it's because of your loyalty and because of your prayers. I'm so grateful for y'all."

To commemorate the evening, Beyoncé also shared a carousel of images on Instagram from the concert, which featured the singer in a sequin red headscarf, a strapless black mini dress with a sweetheart neckline and sparkly black platform boots.

Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour Is Heading for a $500M+ Finish

Klaudia//August 13, 2023
The first month of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour situated her atop Billboard’s Top Tours chart in May. With reports for June, the entire European leg of the tour blew past the $150 million mark, making it the biggest non-U.S. leg of any Beyoncé tour. Now, with data for the trek’s first batch of North American shows, the bigger picture is coming more clearly into focus.

According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, Beyoncé earned $141.4 million on the first 12 Renaissance shows in U.S. and Canada, selling 553,000 tickets. That puts the tour’s overall figures at $295.8 million and 1.6 million tickets, current through her Aug. 1 concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Approaching the $300 million mark, the Renaissance World Tour is now Beyoncé’s highest grossing tour yet, passing 2016’s The Formation World Tour ($256.1 million) and 2018’s On the Run II Tour alongside Jay-Z ($253.5 million).

In exceeding the gross of her own two previous tours, the Renaissance World Tour resets the record for the highest grossing tour by an R&B artist, or any Black artist in Boxscore history. Beyoncé previously held the title with the Formation World Tour and before that, with The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in 2013-14 ($211.9 million).

Tori Kelly Receives Flowers from Beyoncé as She Returns from Hospital

Klaudia//August 10, 2023
Following more than a week in hospital care for blood clots, Tori Kelly has returned home to her dogs — and a gift from Beyoncé.

On Tuesday, the Grammy winner shared a series of videos and photos to Instagram of herself relaxing at home with her pups, Frodo and Dobby, as well as an array of gifted flower arrangements.

"home sweet home," Kelly, 30, captioned the Instagram post, which opens with a video of her embracing Frodo while Dobby — both toy poodles — runs around in excitement.

The post's second slide is a photo of a card from her dogs (who likely received help writing from Kelly's husband, André Murillo) that reads, "Love you mom!!! Get better soon. Love, Frodo and Dobby."

Kelly also shared a photo of several flower bouquets on her kitchen counter, a box of donuts and images of herself chilling out as she plays a Nintendo Switch and watches Friends on television.

Beyoncé Pays D.C. Metro $100,000 to Keep Trains Running After Bad Weather Delays Concert

Klaudia//August 8, 2023
Beyoncé ensured her fans were able to get home safe after attendees of her Aug. 6 show in Washington, D.C.’s FedEx Field were forced to shelter in place due to heavy rain and lightning. The Grammy award-winning singer, who has been on tour since May in support of her “Renaissance” album, paid $100,000 to keep train stations running for an extra hour after her show got a late start as a result of the stormy weather.

“Due to inclement weather that may delay the start of tonight’s Renaissance World Tour at FedExField, Metro will extend the last train by an extra hour beyond the extended closing previously announced,” the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said in a press release. “The additional hour will be funded by the Tour to cover the $100,000 cost to run more trains, keep all 98 stations open for customers to exit, and other operational expenses.”

After the rain started pouring (and just an hour or so before the show was set to begin) fans were advised by the Twitter account for FedEx Field to shelter in place for their safety: “Due to lightning in the area, we are currently under a shelter in place order,” they wrote. “Fans outside of gates and in the parking lots are asked to return to their cars. All fans inside of the stadium are asked to shelter in place under covered concourse areas and ramps until further notice.”

Fan-captured videos of the chaotic scene circulated online and showed fans standing in hallways and ramps inside the stadium. Beyoncé was eventually able to hit the stage later that night and performed the second of two concerts at FedEx Field. The tour will make its final stop on Sept. 27 at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome.

Madame Tussauds Gives New Beyoncé Wax Figure an Edgy Debut in New York

Klaudia//August 1, 2023
Please do not be alarmed! No, that’s not actually Beyoncé reigning 1,100 feet above New York City, but it is the latest wax figure created in her image from Madame Tussauds! On Thursday (July 27), the new Beychella-inspired Beyoncé wax figure made its debut atop The Edge, the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere.

The new likeness features a stunning recreation of Beyoncé’s Nefertiti-evoking ensemble from her historic 2018 Coachella performance, where she became the first Black woman to headline the music and arts festival. The figure wears a replica of Queen Bey’s iconic Balmain bodysuit and cape, along with a cane, a gaudy headpiece, a pair of diamante earrings and an eye-popping statement necklace. Beyoncé’s latest wax figure is the progeny of a team of 20 Madame Tussauds studio artists, sculptors and designers, and the project took six months to complete. Fans will be able to visit the new wax figure at Madame Tussauds New York starting July 27.
