Klaudia//June 30, 2017
Beyoncé's BEYGOOD4BURUNDI and UNICEF have joined forces to help bring safe water to the most vulnerable women and children in the "Heart of Africa." Burundi is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa with nearly half of the population lacking access to clean, safe drinking water.

With your help, nearly half a million people will gain access to safe water, as BEYGOOD4BURUNDI and UNICEF will support building water supply systems for healthcare facilities and schools, and the drilling of boreholes, wells and springs to bring safe water to districts.

Wearable Art Gala

Klaudia//April 30, 2017
Last night Beyonce attended the Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles. The singer auctioned off an autographed gold-plated microphone from the Formation World Tour. She congratulated her mother on creating the event on Instagram:

"I am super proud of my beautiful mother for creating such an awesome event. Close to $1 million was raised for The WACO Theater Center to benefit young people through their mentorship programs and the arts. Mom, you inspire us all to be generous, selfless, positive, to have empathy, to love and to praise creativity in the world. It brought tears to my eyes to be a witness to what you and Richard have created together. WACO is a safe place truly Where Art Can Occur. I love you."

Beyonce FaceTimes With Teen Fighting Cancer

Klaudia//March 23, 2017
Beyoncé made a sick teenager's dream come true when she FaceTimed with the girl, who is battling cancer, on Wednesday, March 22.

Ebony Banks, whose nickname is Ebob, has spent most of her senior year in the hospital after being diagnosed with a rare form of stage IV cancer, and her biggest wish was to meet Beyoncé.

"She's like my everything and my idol," Ebony told KHOU. "And if I ever met her, I would probably pass out."

So her classmates and family started a social media campaign to make that dream come true. They shared messages with the hashtag #ebobmeetsbeyonce, which got thousands of retweets.

"Beyoncé is one of her idols," Karina Gutierrez, a sophomore at Alief Hastings High School, told ABC13. "She admires her so much, so we're trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyoncé's attention."

It worked, Queen Bey got the message and made a FaceTime call to the Houston-based teen on Wednesday.

A short video of their meeting was shared on social media and shows the pregnant Grammy winner smiling and waving and telling Ebony "I love you" as the teen, who is lying in a hospital bed, says the same thing to her.

Beyoncé Announces 3 New Flavors of WTRMLN WTR

Klaudia//March 9, 2017
Thirsty for more Beyoncé? You’re in luck.

WTRMLN WTR, the cold pressed watermelon juice that the singer invested in less than a year ago, is expanding with three new flavors: ginger lemon, lime and tart cherry. Like the classic juice, the new “BLNDS”—which will be available exclusively at Whole Foods through July for $3.99 per 12 oz. bottle—will use the entire watermelon, rind and all.

“Congratulations to my partners at WTRMLN WTR,” the expectant mom said of the company’s co-founders, Jody Levy and Harlan Berger. “I applaud the innovative female leaders at WTRMLN WTR, who inspire us with their creativity and their true commitment to elevating our community and culture.”

Not only do the drinks give back to your body with detoxifying and alkalizing benefits, but they also give back to the community through the Whole Planet Foundation.

According to a statement, “For every sale of any new WTRMLN BLND, proceeds will provide micro-loans to women around the world to begin their own businesses and lift themselves out of poverty. The partnership with Whole Planet Foundation will impact female entrepreneurs and small businesses around the globe.”

Beyoncé Signs Open Letter for International Women's Day

Klaudia//March 9, 2017
An Open Letter From Global Citizen + CHIME FOR CHANGE on International Women's Day

We have reached a critical moment in history. Recent legislation and rhetoric have put decades of progress for girls and women at risk.

In 2013, we joined with CHIME FOR CHANGE to convene, unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for girls and women around the world. Today, we find ourselves under threat of seeing a generation’s worth of hard-won gains reversed.

All over the world, women are on the frontlines fighting for our future. Yet millions of girls and women are still denied basic equal rights. And recent policies and appointments in the United States jeopardize its position as a global leader and positive role model on human rights.

We stand together to say, in a voice louder than ever, that fighting for gender equality is the emergency and the opportunity of our time.

With every generation, our story has spread wider, become more familiar. The voices telling it braver, more powerful. But our story is far from over.

#BEYGood Joins The SCF's Annual Toy Giveaway

Klaudia//December 26, 2016
As we near the end of another year, it’s important that we remember to give thanks and give back. This past weekend, on December 19th, The Shawn Carter Foundation continued their holiday tradition of giving back to our communities with their annual toy giveaway for Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects and surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods.

This year, #BEYGood partnered with the SCF to provide an additional 100+ children with specially ordered Black Barbie Dolls from Mattel. The experience was made even more magical for these Brooklyn children when they had the opportunity to become life-sized dolls themselves and have their photos taken, thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Carter’s iconic halloween costumes from earlier this year.

For the second consecutive year, the event was hosted at Children of Promise, an organization exclusively serving the clinical needs of youth whose parent or parents are incarcerated and an SCF program partner. Overall, more than 1000+ children aged 3 to 16 and their families were provided with toys and an experience they won’t soon forget.

This holiday season, let’s remember to #BEYGood, have fun, and give back to our communities.

Beyoncé Supports "Love on Louisiana" Fundraiser

Klaudia//November 12, 2016
In August 2016, one of the worst U.S. natural disasters hit the storied city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and surrounding areas – historic flooding that left more than 60,000 homes destroyed and $8.7 billion in damages.

The flooding was also responsible for over a dozen deaths in the Baton Rouge area.

But while more than $55 million in federal aid was approved for reconstruction, families and businesses in the area are still struggling to recover from the rising waters.

On November 20, The Knowles family, along with Kelly Rowland and BeyGOOD, are looking to change that.

In a joint effort with ESSENCE, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Solange Knowles and Kelly Rowland – with support from Beyoncé and BeyGOOD, the singer's charitable organization founded in 2013 – will host Love On Louisiana: An Essence Hometown Heroes Tribute, a fundraising awards dinner to celebrate the resilience of Baton Rouge and to raise money for recovery efforts.

“We have continued to witness firsthand the strength of our long-term partners in Louisiana in the aftermath of natural disasters, and it is with great pride that we are partnering with Ms. Tina, Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly and BeyGOOD to harness the resources of our collective networks and join the community in rebuilding,” said Essence President Michelle Ebanks.

Free Beyoncé tickets for some Philly kids

Klaudia//September 30, 2016
At first, Richard Gordon didn't believe it.

Free tickets to Thursday's Beyoncé concert for some of the hardworking students at Robeson High, where he is principal?

"It sounded too good to be true. It wasn't. It's amazing," said Gordon, whose West Philadelphia public school enrolls 300 students.

In fact, the entertainment company Live Nation gave the Philadelphia School District enough tickets to allow 68 high schools to send a number of deserving teens.

How many tickets?

"A lot," spokesman Kevin Geary said.

Principals were given the tickets to distribute as they saw fit to seniors - Gordon chose honor students and English-language learners who had made great strides.

The giveaway has been in the works for months, but "it's not something that they wanted to publicize," Geary said.

Robin Hood fights poverty and funds educational programs in New York’s poorest areas. Its board includes Paul Tudor Jones, David Einhorn, David Tepper and Katie Couric.

Beyoncé Raised $82K for Flint Water Crisis Victims

Klaudia//June 14, 2016
Beyoncé‘s management company, Parkwood Entertainment, and their director of philanthropy and corporate relations presented a check of $82,234 to the United Way of Genesee County at a Detroit high school on Monday (Jun. 13) in partnership with her philanthropic platform, BeyGOOD. The company also provided 14 select students, chosen by the high school’s principals, with college gifts to supplement their educational expenses and tickets Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour show in Detroit.

The funds came by way of the artist’s loyal supporters. “Fans who purchased tickets to the Beyoncé Formation World Tour shows provided donations to support the work of United Way of Genesee County, which is continuing to respond to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan,” reads the official statement. “United Way of Genesee County has been at the forefront of distributing bottled water and filtration systems, as well as providing and emergency support services to those in need.”

After the short-term needs of the Flint residents are met, the United Way will issue the rest of the funds to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, which will provide long-term developmental, health, and educational support to citizens in the area. The Beyhive has also shown their support by getting involved with United Way projects, which include stuffing backpacks with school supplies and providing diapers to needy families.

“We are so grateful for the support Beyoncé has given to those in Flint and the way she has inspired her fans to fight for the education, health and financial stability of everyone in their communities,” said Stacey D. Stewart, the U.S. President of United Way Worldwide. “This partnership demonstrates just how easy it can be to give back.”

Beyoncé to reveal Flint fund-raising, new Detroit initiative

Klaudia//June 12, 2016
Beyoncé is set to reveal the fruits of her Flint fund-raising effort — and unveil plans for a charitable Detroit initiative.

The singer’s team will hold a Monday media event in Detroit to announce the total raised for crisis-stricken Flint during her Formation World Tour, which will wrap up its first U.S. leg with a Ford Field show on Tuesday.

Ticket buyers on the 23-city run were directed to the fund-raising site CrowdRise.com, where they could make donations and enter into a random drawing for seat upgrades. Contributions benefit the United Way of Genesee County and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, earmarked to help residents affected by the city's water crisis.

“Beyoncé is a woman who is always touched with compassion to not only help people, but to use her platform to engage others to help as well,” said Ivy McGregor, who runs the BeyGood Foundation as part of the singer’s Parkwood Entertainment.

Monday's announcement follows through on a promise to aid Flint, made when Beyoncé's tour was announced during February's Super Bowl.

“Flint residents represent us all,” McGregor said. “They represent the tour family, Parkwood, all of us. They’re everyday people that faced issues and circumstances that could happen in our backyards.”

Learn how WTRMLN WTR has committed to #BeyGOOD

Klaudia//June 2, 2016
Every year, tons of perfectly edible, but conventionally considered “cosmetically challenged” produce goes to waste. Beautiful, juicy watermelons included.

WTRMLN WTR is one of the companies working to change that. The 3-year-old New York-based company’s commitment to being GOOD to the earth, the growers, and teaching others to BeyGOOD to their bodies, is just also notable as the tasty end-product.

Aside from the clean earth-friendly end product, WTRMLN WTR’s mission statement and acquisition of watermelon for their supply also speaks to the brand’s tagline to “seed change and spread liquid love.” The Company’s mission is rather simple: better, more sustainable methods of food production, less waste, a smarter planet, healthier humans, a healthier world, more love, equality, decency and kindness.

WTRMLN WTR is made from the millions of pounds of unused waste watermelons in the United States annually (otherwise known as ‘ugly’ fruit) the Non-GMO melons are then transported with care, hand skinned, cold pressed and bottled with the best practices to promote the nutritional value for consumption.

The bottled end product consists of nothing but cold pressed watermelon, straight from the fruit, and a drop of organic lemon juice to produce an all-natural hydration drink packed with electrolytes and performance enhancing nutrients. WTRMLN WTR uses the entire melon, from core to rind, decreasing waste, increasing the nutritional value, and ensuring that there is truth to the brand’s ethics from the farmer to the consumer.

The idea is pretty simple: by using the entire edible, but often considered unsightly watermelons that are often discarded or never even harvested, we can decrease food waste, help farmers stay in business, hydrate more people and continue to BeyGOOD to our bodies, and mother earth.

Beyoncé Names Charity Partners For Formation World Tour

Klaudia//April 20, 2016
Today Beyoncé names three charities as global partners for The Formation World Tour. The alignment with the three organizations is designed to show fans how easy it is to give back, be involved in their communities, to be kind and at the core—to BeyGOOD.

United Way will have a presence on every tour stop, starting on the North American leg of the tour which kicks off on Wednesday, April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. CHIME FOR CHANGE and Global Citizen will have their online activation program for fans in select tour markets, including Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit and London. In addition, there are three signature charity events in three cities; Houston, TX, Compton, CA and Detroit, Michigan.

BeyGOOD was launched in 2013 during the Mrs. Carter World Tour as the charity umbrella for Beyoncé's global charity initiatives. Millions received tangible help, employment, shelter and more on tour stops in North America, Australia, Europe, South America and the Caribbean as a direct effect of BeyGOOD's efforts during this time.

Ivy McGregor, Director of Philanthropy, runs BeyGOOD's day-to-day operatives through Parkwood Entertainment.

"The Formation World Tour creates another exciting global opportunity for people everywhere to BeyGOOD, pay it forward and lend support to those in need," said McGregor. "Through our collaborations with our strategic charity partners, we've created simple ways for everyone to participate. Because we believe together we can make the world better - standing, living and giving in Good Formation."

Life-changing call Beyoncé made to Australian girl

Klaudia//November 3, 2015
A first-hand account of Beyoncé, behind the scenes.

New York City was illuminated by its skyscraper lights when Beyoncé waited by her phone. It was late, but this international call really mattered to her. And, up until now, nobody knows she made it.

Meanwhile, Newcastle, NSW was illuminated by its sunlight. The call's recipient, Chelsea James, 15, was in her bedroom when her mum got a heads-up: will Chelsea be able to answer her mobile in about 10 minutes? Somebody important will be calling it.

Chelsea had terminal cancer. Unlike other 15-year-olds, she couldn't braid her hair or tower in her first pair of heels: intense chemo/radiation when she was very young meant her hair never grew back and her height was never taller than that of an eight-year-old. This was to be her third intimate encounter with Beyoncé — but her most poignant. Chelsea had that morning been told she had two weeks to live, after a decade-long cancer battle. The call was for the two women to say goodbye to one another.

Four years previously, Beyoncé had spotted Chelsea, then 11, in the crowd when she was on stage in Sydney. At the time, Chelsea had just a one per cent chance of survival. The final few wispy strands of hair on her head blew serenely in the wind machine as Beyoncé changed the words to Halo, singing: “Chelsea, I can see your Halo – I pray you won’t fade away.” There wasn’t a dry eye in the house and the video went viral, reducing Ellen Degeneres to tears when she played it on her show.
