Beyonce: I guess I am a modern-day feminist

Klaudia//April 3, 2013
The clue is in the hip-shaking, woman-empowering pop songs.

But now Beyonce has confirmed what we knew anyway – she is “a modern-day feminist”.

The stunning megastar, 31, says women should be able to dote on their husbands and children, be clever, successful and sexy and still call themselves feminists.

And, appearing on the cover of Vogue’s May issue in a midriff-baring top and sequinned pencil skirt, the singer, said to be worth £190million, more than proves the point.

“Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything?” the mother-of one asks readers of the fashion bible.

“I’m just a woman and I love being a woman. If you’re attractive then you can’t be sexy, and you can’t be intelligent? What is all of that?... I don’t know .

“That word can be very extreme. But I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality, and that we have a way to go and it’s something that’s pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept. But I’m happily married. I love my husband.”

The lucky man is 43-year-old hip-hop mogul Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – and their daughter is Blue Ivy, one.

“I feel like Mrs Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I’ve ever been,” Beyonce says. “It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child.

Beyoncé For H&M Confirmed

Klaudia//March 21, 2013
H&M is proud to announce a new partnership for its summer campaign with global superstar Beyoncé. The entertainer, who kicks off her sold out Mrs. Carter Show World Tour on April 15, will appear in television and print ads featuring pieces from the H&M summer collection. The print and outdoor billboards introduce "Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M”, the idea that all women can be all things: strong, vulnerable, sensual, maternal, fun, flirtatious. The clothing will be available beginning May in H&M stores worldwide and online.

“I’ve always liked H&M’s focus on fun and affordable fashion. I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements – fire, water, earth and wind. It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial,” says Beyoncé.

“H&M’s summer campaign starring Beyoncé is an epic fantasy, with glamour, drama and also a sense of paradise. It was amazing to watch her on the shoot make it all look effortless – a quality that makes her such an icon for women around the world. The campaign is the essence of Beyoncé, and also the essence of H&M this summer,” says Donald Schneider, Creative Director, H&M.

“In the campaign Beyoncé is wearing the key pieces from H&M you need for life in the sun this summer,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design, H&M. “There’s the perfect bodycon dress, as well as a flowing sun dress that makes a real statement. And of course there are the bikinis, especially the fringed bikini. What makes these pieces even more special is that Beyoncé herself had input into the design, and they are full of her own personal style.”

The summer campaign features swimwear and beachwear pieces as well as a tie-dye bikini from this summer’s H&M for Water collection. 25% of sales from the H&M for Water collection will be donated to H&M for WaterAid. Since 2002, H&M’s initiative with WaterAid has raised £2,650,000.

The campaign images were shot in Nassau in the Bahamas by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, while the commercial was directed by Jonas Åkerlund. The commercial highlights the opposing nature of the four basic elements and will be available to view online in its entirety, with edited versions for TV. The commercial also features a new song from Beyoncé, Standing On The Sun, which will be available worldwide online and hm.com beginning May.

Beyoncé Wears Jewelry From Very Special Designer

Klaudia//February 19, 2013
We’ve long admired Lorraine Schwartz’s beautiful jewelry, spotted on stars including Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. But the pieces these four celebs most recently sported have us dazzled for reasons beyond carats: Schwartz created them with help from pediatric patients at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

To honor her late mother, who died of lung cancer, Schwartz partnered with Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation to teach the patients, ages six to 15, how to create jewelry. They then designed pieces inspired by their favorite celebrities as a form of art therapy.

“One of the most memorable times for our family was when my mother made jewelry during her treatments,” Schwartz says. “It was so therapeutic for all of us. We still have those pieces and cherish them.”

And Schwartz had a big surprise in store for her students: Their creations would actually be worn by the A-list star for whom they had designed their jewelry.

Beyoncé posed in the bright, flower-inspired gems created for her by Jozlyn, 12, which prominently feature the color blue for Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy. “There was a lot of thought put into that,” Schwartz tells PEOPLE. “Beyoncé couldn’t have been more touched.” She adds that Jozlyn is “obsessed” with the superstar, saying “She’s the biggest star in the world to her … and was beyond excited to find out she wore her jewelry.”

Beyonce: 'Mrs. Carter Show' World Tour in 2013?

Klaudia//February 2, 2013
Beyonce is reportedly set to head out on her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in 2013!

A promo image for the tour was placed onto the 31-year-old entertainer’s tickets page on Live Nation, which has prompted speculation that this is the big announcement Bey has been alluding to.

During her Super Bowl Halftime Show press conference earlier this week, Beyonce said she “may have an announcement after the performance — fans should just stay tuned to see.”

All Hip Hop reportedly got an exclusive scoop from Beyonce’s camp that confirms the information and says the tour would be set to kick off in April or May. (Thanks Mark!)

Outtakes from Beyonce's GQ Cover Story

Klaudia//January 22, 2013
Beyoncé had so much to say in GQ's February cover story. And now, in the wake of that piece (not to mention news of her upcoming Super Bowl reunion with Destiny 's Child and performance at Obama's second inauguration), so do her fans. With the Twittersphere on fire about the GQ article and great Terry Richardson photos, let it never be said that we are not listening. When we read Tweets like this—
