Beyoncé Talks At-Home Beauty Treatments & Makeup Tricks

Klaudia//March 29, 2011
When I recently spoke with Beyoncé, she mentioned that her latest fragrance, Heat Rush, is meant to "remind you of sunshine". I asked B to shed some sunlight on her favorite beauty products, what it's like to give people a fragrance bottle with your name on it, and that rite of passage every young woman goes through: stealing her mother's perfume.

How often do you wear fragrance? "Every day. I put it on as soon as I get out of the shower. I wear it onstage, in the studio, on dates."

How many fragrances do you own? "I'm very loyal. I find one and wear it for years. I wear Heat and Heat Rush—I really do! It was important to me that they work for all occasions because I don't like to switch up. I like to have a signature scent so that when I walk past, everyone knows it's me. My mother always wore the same fragrance and every time I smell it, I think of her."

What perfume is that? "She wore 273. I remember it was the first thing that I wore because I used to steal it from her!"

I used to steal my mom's Liz Claiborne! Do you have any particular scent memories attached to 273? "Yes. I kind of put that fragrance together with stilettos—because I would smell it and hear her footsteps on the hardwood floor."

When you have your own perfumes, does everyone you know get them as gifts? Who have you given Heat Rush to? "All of my family. It's funny because I don't like to give my own CD to all of my friends—it feels a little strange. But I gave Heat and Heat Rush to all of my nieces and my extended family. A lot of them were like, 'You better give us those fragrances! Because we don't want to have to buy them!'"

Beyoncé Knowles sheds stress by swimming

Klaudia//March 6, 2011
Beyoncé Knowles has revealed that swimming in the ocean is her favourite way to relax. The notoriously hard-working singer is famed for her perfectly groomed look. Away from red-carpet events and performing live, the singing sensation says she loves nothing more than to unwind by going on vacation and taking advantage of the open water. The 29-year-old says this relaxation method keeps her feeling and looking good. “My favourite way to relax is to go on vacation and swim in the ocean. My skin looks healthier when I have had a break from work,” she told the British edition of Glamour magazine. The American R&B star is famed for her gorgeous curves, which are the envy of women across the globe. She puts her toned physique down to rigorous gym training and high-intensity dancing routines whilst on tour. “When I am on tour, I dance for two hours a night, and when I’m not on the road, I work out a few times a week which keeps my skin glowing. I run about two miles on the treadmill and I have a great trainer.”

Beyonce Knowles hates strong aftershave

Klaudia//March 6, 2011
Beyonce Knowles gets turned off by men who wear too much aftershave. The singer-and-actress - who is married to hip-hop superstar Jay-Z - says it's much sexier if a man has a subtle scent rather than something that is overbearing. She said: "A man should never be too overbearing with his scent. I've been in too many elevators next to too many men with strong aftershave and it's a total turn-off. With men, a scent should be subtle, clean and fresh, and just make you want to lean in to smell more. That's sexy." Beyonce has just launched her second fragrance, Heat Rush, and says Jay-Z was involved in the creative process because she will only wear perfumes he approves of. She told Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine: "One of the most important aspects of my perfume is that they get his seal of approval. When you wear a perfume, you want your man to love it. He loves my scents because he was part of the decision-making process. I wouldn't wear a scent if he didn't like it."

Beyoncé: I didn’t expect longevity

Klaudia//March 6, 2011
Beyoncé Knowles has admitted she thought she would be "retired by 30". The 29-year-old R&B sensation will hit the milestone age this September, and still has so much more she wants to achieve in her career. The star has confessed she never thought she would be so ambitious though, and originally planned to quit working early on in life. "This is really funny but when I was younger I thought I'd be retired by 30," laughed the star in an interview with the British edition of Cosmopolitan. "Now I'm nearly there I can't believe how much more I want to do." The beautiful star shot to fame in the 90s as the lead singer of girl band Destiny's Child. She has gone on to become one of the world's most successful female solo artists, with albums such as 2008's I Am... Sasha Fierce earning her numerous Grammy Awards. She has also launched a movie career, with roles in films such as 2006 box-office smash Dreamgirls proving just how multi-talented she is. "I never imagined I'd have as much success as I've had. I thought it would be great just to get a record out," she smiled. "I never imagined the extent of what I've achieved. I never imagined the awards, the movies... I still can't believe it. I'm grateful for all of it and don't take it for granted. When I do something, I try and do it as well as I can." In addition to her performing abilities, the songstress is fascinated by the human mind, and revealed that if she hadn't succeeded in showbiz she would have loved to explore that interest in more depth. When asked what she would have been if she wasn't a singer, the star replied; "a psychiatrist".

Teen Vogue interview

Klaudia//March 4, 2011
There are few women who embody celebrity as perfectly as Beyoncé Knowles. She had hearts all around the world "Jumpin' Jumpin'" as the leading lady of Destiny's Child, and then we fell "Crazy in Love" when she embarked on her solo career, only to watch her finally claim her rightful position as a full-fledged "Diva" shortly thereafter. With 16 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award-winning film, a fashion line (not to mention the highest honor of all - a Teen Vogue cover!) on her stellar résumé, one might say that Miss Knowles has done it all. Who could blame her if she decided to take an extended break from work? But let's be serious. This is Beyoncé we're talking about. The songstress delighted beauty editors and fans alike early last year with the launch of her first fragrance, Heat: a warm, fruity concoction with subtle hints of spice. And now, she's gearing up for the highly-anticipated release of Heat Rush, a fresher, lighter take on the original scent. We got the chance to ask B a couple of questions about her newest fragrance, career moves, body image, and the lovely Tom Ford. Check out what she had to say!

You were selected as the celebrity with the Best Body Image by Teen Vogue readers in 2010. Do you have any words of wisdom for girls who are struggling with their image?

That was very nice and I am flattered. Thank you Teen Vogue readers. The best thing I can say to young ladies is accept the body you're in. If you have curves, love your curves. The thing to strive for is to have the best healthy body you can have. It's really not about being skinny or being curvy. What matters is that you love yourself and you are taking care of your health.

Beyonce on babies and butter pecan ice cream

Klaudia//March 4, 2011
Beyonce admits, it takes commitment to maintain a healthy body and a healthy self-image. "I love my butter pecan ice cream," she says, "but I also love to work out. We all have our issues. Mine is arms and legs, keeping them tight and toned. It takes work, believe me." "My attitude is, there is always room for growth," Beyoncé says. "I feel more comfortable about expressing myself." As for her future and life with Jay-Z, "Yes, I do want to embrace what happens next and family," she says. "It's funny how your outlook changes as you get older, how you look at life – at other women – in a different way." "I have so much admiration for women who are mothers," she says, "who balance family and work."

Beyonce Defends Fiery Heat Ads

Klaudia//March 2, 2011
Beyonce has defended her controversial perfume commercials after they were deemed too sexy for U.K. TV, insisting she has no regrets over the advertisements. The steamy clip for Beyonce's Heat fragrance, which features the singer lying in a bathtub and seductively stroking her chest, was banned by officials at the Advertising Standards Authority in November (10). But the Crazy in Love hitmaker is unfazed by viewers' complaints, admitting she found the furore "funny". She tells Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine, "I wasn't annoyed, I thought it was funny. Personally, I don't think my ad was any more crazy sexy than other ads out there - I loved it, despite whatever anyone else thought. "It was based on a really hot George Michael video and yes, it was sexy, but then you have to think about what you're doing. It was for my fragrance and I believe a wonderful fragrance brings out the sex appeal in a woman. That was what I was trying to express. I don't regret it."

Beyonce Knowles Wears Seductive Stilettos For Jay

Klaudia//March 1, 2011
Beyonce Knowles wears "sexy stilettos and a beautiful dress" when she wants to seduce her husband Jay-Z. The pop megastar knows exactly how to turn on the rapper and she also likes to make an effort to make herself feel attractive. In an interview with the new edition of Cosmopolitan magazine, she said: "You should put on good music and something that makes you feel great. I love a pair of high, sexy stilettos with a beautiful dress, but you have to find out what works for you - whether it's doing the whole smoky eyes thing or a natural look. And never be predictable. Mix it up, surprise him, change your hair - be the woman he knows with a little bit of a twist." Although the 'Crazy in Love' singer dresses up for romantic evenings with Jay-Z, Beyonce insists the sexiest thing about any woman is if she has confidence. The 29-year-old beauty is adamant that if you feel happy in your own skin then men will pick up on the vibe. She said: "The most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence. You can be beautiful but if you're not secure in yourself, you don't come across as sexy. You have to feel good about yourself to make others feel good about you. Don't focus on the bits you don't like. Look at yourself in a different way and work out what it is you do like."

Beyoncé: 'My perfume is sensual'

Klaudia//February 3, 2011
Beyoncé has revealed that she created her perfume Heat Rush for women who want to feel "sensuality". The singer explained that she wants female fans to feel sexy when they are wearing the scent. She said in a statement: "I created Heat Rush to bring the feeling of warmth and sensuality to every woman who wears it. It's feminine and sexy, fresh and beautiful." The perfume follows on from her debut fragrance, which the 29-year-old said "empowered" her. She added: "I wanted this to be something that made you feel like you could conquer anything, and take over the world. "Strength was something important, because a lot of my songs I write for my women, to empower them. When I spray it I feel feminine, I feel like a woman. I can leave a lasting impression."

Beyonce Goes Bare in New Video

Klaudia//November 25, 2010
Get ready to see Beyonce in a whole new way! The sultry star is appearing in a new DVD documentary -- in which she stars and directed herself -- that gives a never-before-seen look at her life. In some of the raw moments captured, she appears completely bare: no makeup, lighting, or stage costumes. 'Beyonce: I Am ... World Tour,' (out November 30) goes behind-the-scenes of her one-year, 119-stop world tour. At the launch event for the Lorraine Schwartz "2B HAPPY" jewelry collection which she hosted in NYC, the superstar tells ET she made the film while on tour with her own MacBook! "I wanted to do something a little different with the film," she explains. "I wanted people to re-experience the show in a different way. Everyone that had been to the show -- I wanted them to see things that they didn't get to see. I figured it would be cool for everyone to see it from my point of view. It's a peek behind the curtain ... honestly, more than no makeup, the emotions and just being so real and raw, I don't think I'd be able to let down my guard the way I did if anybody was in the room." Meanwhile, she dished on the jewelry collection, which adorned her arms. "Everyone calls me B.," she says. " have two B's flipped opposite, and then a happy face. I'm always preaching about the importance of happiness. That's really our goal in life is to be happy ... it just makes you smile." Watch the video to see stars from the event in the Big Apple, including Mary J. Blige, Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively and others.

Beyonce Jokes She's Been Pregnant With Concert Special

Klaudia//November 24, 2010
Beyoncé never really seems to slow down, so when the time came to choose a director for her concert special DVD "I Am ... World Tour," the singer decided to take on those duties too. It's an accomplishment the singer jokes may have sparked those pregnancy rumors. "I was pregnant with this DVD, yes!" she joked to MTV News. The DVD hits stores on November 30, but fans can catch the 90-minute "I Am ... World Tour" TV special when it airs on ABC Thanksgiving night at 9:30 p.m. ET. Beyoncé opened up about what it was like to sit in the director's chair. "Well, I've done some co-directing for music videos this was definitely a big step for me, and I'm so thrilled," she said at the New York City screening for the flick. Beyoncé said she was completely hands-on, deciding which moments made the final cut and which ones wound up on the cutting-room floor. "It was hard work," she said. "I learned so much. I have a new respect for directors and I think I would like to do more of it." Her parents, Mathew and Tina Knowles, who also attended the screening over the weekend, said the film gives B the recognition she deserves after years of collaborating on many of her own videos. "I'm really excited about this because Beyoncé has been making little short films and really helping to direct her videos," Tina told us. "So it's nice that she'll get credit for doing something that she really loves doing and that she's very talented at." Dad Mathew recalled all of the effort his superstar daughter put into the special. "I'm so proud," he said. "I had an opportunity , I've been to Houston with a screening; I've been to Bentonville, , with a screening, and to see the excitement from the audience, what an incredible job Beyoncé did as a director in the editing, I'm just so proud. Hopefully, all the fans go out and get the DVD and soundtrack and look at that ABC special coming on Thanksgiving."
