OTR II Tour Architect Reveals New Content Will Be Added To The Show

Klaudia//June 20, 2018
Nobody does a stadium show like Beyoncé. Back in 2016, when she was touring Lemonade, she took with her a 60-foot “monolith” to project mountainous videos at her audience – it was so big that some venues had to reduce the size of the audience in order to fit the stage. This time around, for her second On The Run tour with Jay-Z, the dynamic stage feels lighter – but it provides a number of “oh shit!” moments (not only when the couple end their show by dropping a new album, as they did on Saturday June 16 in London).

The stage is mainly constructed of two catwalks, which Bey and Jay use to perform independently of one another; at the end of the show, a giant bridge connects the two, floating over the audience as it does so. More impressive than this is the backdrop of the stage, which is dominated by two giant video screens (each of which, designer Ric Lipson tells me, is the size of “a London street”). At various points in the show, these screens split open, to reveal a four-storey structure, on which figures dance, play instruments, and sometimes create a silhouetted tableau. It’s reminiscent of the thrum of vibrant energy that Bey brought with her to this year’s Coachella performances, where she chose to perform in front of college-style bleachers packed with 120 dancers and instrumentalists, rather than the screens that usually dominate massive arena pop shows.

The show was brought to life by Stufish, a London-based entertainment architectural firm who also worked on the stage that was used for Beychella (as well as having a storied history producing shows for Lady Gaga, Queen, and U2). Dazed spoke to Stufish architect Ric Lipson about how the stage design reflected Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s narrative of forgiveness and reconciliation, why Beyoncé altered the design to accommodate a huge band, and how the show may change as it keeps travelling.

On the Run II Tour in London (June 16)

Klaudia//June 18, 2018
Beyonce and Jay-Z performed for the second time at the London Stadium in London, England on Saturday (June 16). The singer wore a new outfit for "Crazy in Love". After the show, she wrote on Facebook: "London! Thank you for two nights of amazing energy and being the first to experience #EverythingIsLove!"

Beyonce's Hair Colorist Shares Inspiration Behind Her New Blonde Hue

Klaudia//June 11, 2018
She’s known as Queen Bey for a reason! Beyoncé and Jay-Z kicked off their On the Run II tour in Cardiff, Wales, on Wednesday, June 6, and while the show is epic for so many reasons (think: insane musical talent, jamming songs, gorgeous costumes), we couldn’t help but be mesmerized by Beyoncé’s #flawless cascade of curls. So you can imagine our delight from Bey’s longtime hair colorist Rita Hazan (the same woman who crafted the perfect shade of blonde for those history-making 2018 Coachella performances in April) agreed to spill all the details on the summery strands.

“I got a call that Beyoncé wanted her hair color to be super dramatic for this show which is why I jumped on the soonest flight to Paris to meet with her last weekend,” Rita tells Us. When it came to deciding on the perfect shade, the colorist, who first started working with Bey about seven years ago at the recommendation of the diva’s hairstylist Kim Kimble, explained that it was all about minding the details (i.e. lighting, wardrobe, makeup, etc.).

“She was requesting color that was impactful and that would translate well on stage with the bright lights and her fierce wardrobe,” Hazan says. “I ended up making the ends of her hair extremely golden blonde – not ashy – and her roots a few shades darker. It took a few hours to create but overall she is embracing a more natural look and texture.”

While the half-up style and tight ringlets are similar to the waist-grazing urban glam look she sported at Coachella, the On The Run II hue is noticeably warmer than the music festival’s ashier blonde. The new shade is the perfect complement to her sculpted golden goddess makeup look, complete with a neutral lip, shimmering eye and graphic winged liner.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Launch BeyGOOD/Do Good Campaign

Klaudia//June 4, 2018
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have teamed up with two of the world's most prestigious youth-focused initiatives, The Prince's Trust and Global Citizen, to reward fans for being kind, charitable and doing good for others. Fans who volunteer through these organizations will be given the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the United Kingdom and European dates on the OTR all stadium tour.

The BeyGOOD/DoGood campaign kicks off in the UK on June 6 in Cardiff, Wales, with The Prince's Trust, the youth charity founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1976, to help change young lives. Beyoncé also partnered with The Prince's Trust in 2014 during her solo Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.

Global Citizen continues the campaign in Europe starting on June 19 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. First launched in 2012, Global Citizen is an international advocacy organization working to end extreme poverty by 2030. In addition to performing twice at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, in New York City, Beyoncé has joined forces with Global Citizen through Gucci's CHIME FOR CHANGE with a focus on social issues faced by women and girls globally.

"The united efforts of BeyGOOD/DoGood, along with our amazing partners The Prince's Trust and Global Citizen, are calling upon you to lift your voices, lend your hands and share your creativity as active and positive forces for doing good," states Ivy McGregor, Director of Philanthropy (BeyGOOD) and Corporate Relations for Parkwood Entertainment. "Wherever you are and whatever skills, talents and resources you possess, are of value to others in your community, country and across the globe."

Chloe x Halle & DJ Khaled Announced as Openers for OTR II

Klaudia//June 1, 2018
Next month, Beyoncé and JAY-Z will kick off their On The Run II tour in Europe before touching down in the U.S. in July. While no guest openers have been announced for the European leg of the tour, Bey's mentees, Chloe x Halle, and DJ Khaled announced Thursday (May 31) on Twitter that they'll be joining the power couple for the North American jaunt.

"We will be opening for the North American leg of On the Run II. That's right, the kids are on the run, too," said Chloe, who could barely contain her excitement, in a short video posted to the duo's Twitter. Halle added, "We are so very excited for this family reunion of Parkwood and Roc Nation. We cannot wait to join the North American leg of this tour; we cannot wait to see your beautiful faces and we're so thankful to Beyoncé and to JAY-Z and we just know that this is going to be an epic reunion."

DJ Khaled followed suit and shared the On the Run II promo flyer on Twitter, writing, "Hitting the road with @S_C_ and @Beyonce in North America for the #OTR2 tour!!"

The North American leg of the upcoming tour will begin July 25 in Cleveland, Ohio. From there, Bey, Hov and their guests will make stops in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Buffalo, Miami, Atlanta and more before ending the tour in Vancouver on October 2.

Kelly Rowland Responds to Rumors Destiny's Child Is Joining OTR Tour

Klaudia//May 5, 2018
Destiny’s Child just had an epic reunion at Coachella last month — but according to Kelly Rowland, that doesn’t mean they’ll be joining Beyoncé and JAY-Z on tour this summer.

After rumors spread that Rowland and Michelle Williams would be joining the superstar couple for their upcoming On The Run II tour, Rowland, 37, tells PEOPLE that they aren’t true. In fact, there hasn’t even been any talk about the possibility.

“This is the first time I heard it — this morning,” Rowland told PEOPLE at Schick’s F.A.B. event in N.Y.C. on Thursday. “I was like, ‘Well, that’s news to me!’ There hasn’t been anything we discussed. She and Jay are getting ready to go on tour — I’m sad because I won’t see those babies.”

But according to the singer, the girl group is just as in sync as they were during their Destiny’s Child days. Rowland adds that while they spent days in rehearsals for their most recent reunion at Coachella, hitting the stage with Beyoncé and Williams by her side felt just like old times.

“It was long days but it was so fun. I think the best part was it felt like we were just on stage yesterday. It didn’t feel like it was years that we haven’t been together, and that’s how natural we are together as friends, as sisters.”

Beyoncé and JAY-Z Will 'Confront the Hard Subjects' on Tour

Klaudia//April 10, 2018
Beyoncé and JAY-Z are ready to put their love on top during their upcoming tour, On The Run 2.

The Lemonade singer’s stepfather, Richard Lawson, popped by the PEOPLE Now studio to talk about his new 10-episode legal drama series In Contempt alongside co-stars Erica Ash and Christian Keyes, when he revealed the couple’s plans to display a more vulnerable side on stage after working hard to strengthen their marriage following publicized issues of past infidelity.

“Well, look at what they’ve been through in the last couple of years in terms of the things that they’ve confronted and the way that they’ve put it into art,” Lawson tells PEOPLE. “This is gonna be really a culmination of their growth and their ability to really confront the hard subjects and the hard issues.”

After therapy and hard work, the rap mogul, 48, revealed to David Letterman on Friday’s episode of his Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman that he and the Queen Bee, 36, are “in a better place today,” possibly because of her big heart and openness to forgive.
