Beyonce attends Alicia Keys album release party

Klaudia//November 29, 2012
Alicia Keys launched her latest album “Girl On Fire” in style by throwing a star-studded party in New York on Tuesday night.

The singer kicked off the week with the lights of New York’s Empire State Building being synchronized to her fifth record’s title track and her huge hit with pal Jay-Z, “Empire State of Mind.”

She continued the celebrations on Tuesday by hosting a VIP bash at Big Apple club The Box, where she was joined by her record producer husband Swizz Beatz and a host of A-list pals including Beyonce, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake and designer Tommy Hilfiger.

Keys was presented with a cake featuring her image made out of icing, and reportedly hit the dance floor with Beyonce while her partner, Swizz Beatz, acted as MC on the decks.

Beyoncé Steps Out for Solange’s Album Listening

Klaudia//October 27, 2012
Where can you find Jay-Z bouncing to some pretty girly music in a sea of colorful oxfords, natural hair, and random art? At Solange’s listening event in New York City, of course. The constantly evolving chanteuse, never just known as Beyoncé’s little sister, is set to drop her EP, TRUE, on iTunes on November 27. The record is a mélange of kicky dance tracks co-written and produced by Devonté “Dev” Hynes, who giddily admitted, “There’s no one in the world I’d rather have worked with on this than Solange.”

An intimate group of press, along with Solange’s crew, came out to support her last night at a small studio converted into a modern-day speakeasy in the heart of SoHo. The charming pop of the cork every few minutes provided an extra beat to the album as Armand de Brignac (the gold bottle that replaced Cristal for Hov years ago) poured relentlessly into champagne flutes.

Solange glowed for good reason—the EP she shared with the crowd after a brief introduction was energetic, fresh, and creative, an amalgamation of nostalgic influences from the greats, with a twist of the contemporary beats that would make The Neptunes jealous. Also, perhaps because of her experience as a DJ, it came together in a cohesive way like the progression of a night on the dance floor. As the songs flowed out of the speakers, no one could stay in their seats, including hip-hop’s royal couple. Proud big sister B swept her caramel tresses into a ponytail a few minutes in and got off a couch to hit the floor with her hubby.

Beyonce & Jay-z Raise $4 Million for Obama

Klaudia//September 19, 2012
Hip-hop supercouple Jay Z and Beyonce boosted Barack Obama's re-election campaign by generating $4 million (£2.5 million) at a New York City fundraiser for the U.S. President on Tuesday (18Sep12).

One hundred Vip guests paid $40,000 (£25,000) each to attend the exclusive event, held at the rapper's 40/40 Club in Manhattan.

Beyonce, in a red cocktail dress, took to the stage to introduce the President, who wants four more years in the White House.

She told guests, "I can't tell you how proud we are to host tonight's event with President Obama. We believe in his vision."

Obama joked to the audience that his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, were "mad at me because they aren't here", before telling his hosts, "To Jay and B, thank you so much for your friendship. Beyonce could not be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent."

He then pointed out the similarities he shares with Jay Z, quipping, "We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's Ok."

Obama will face Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the upcoming November (12) elections.

MTV Executive talks VMA Moments

Klaudia//September 12, 2012
Kanye Storms the Stage and Interrupts Taylor Swift (2009)
Toffler: “There’s no way any of us could have predicted that — we didn’t orchestrate it. He came with a bottle of alcohol, so he was in a festive mood to begin with. But we all were in shock in the truck when he walked up on stage and took the mic from Taylor. I remember turning to one of the producers and going, ‘Do we not have security?’ we don’t put those big bulky guys on camera in front of the talent. Maybe this guy thought Kanye belonged on the stage.
I said to our line producer, ‘You need to go talk to Kanye and probably have him exit the building, and I will go deal with Taylor.’ And she was about to perform right after that break! She was a champ. I would be lying if I said she and her mom weren’t crying when I saw them, but she pulled it together. This was one of the most absurd VMA moments for me, having to talk to her and her mom, and they’re crying and upset, and this was her first time on the VMAs, and she had been used to working on country shows with polite artists. This was a little bit more chaotic than she was used to. And then I walked back behind the stage to find Beyoncé crying about the incident. Ultimately I talked to her and her dad and then went back to Taylor after her performance, and an hour later Beyoncé brought Taylor back out so she could have her moment.

Beyoncé’s Pregnant Pause (2011)
“I remember Beyoncé showed up to rehearsal, and she was wearing really loose clothing. We like to know the wardrobe choices that our artists are making — we’ve learned the hard way sometimes. I remember asking her manager about it, and she said, ‘Don’t worry, she’ll show you the day of.’
She said to our director that she didn’t want to have a cutaway. She said, ‘Take a close-up of me at the end of the song. No audience applauding shot—I want you tight on me.’ That is what we knew. And then on the red carpet, she had kind of indicated what was going on. It wasn’t until an hour before the show that we figured it out, and the rest of the world figured it out. Most of the artists didn’t know, and we got that great of Kanye after the reveal with Jay.”

Beyonce Performs At United Nations

Klaudia//August 11, 2012
"Is this what happens at the U.N. every Friday night?" Anderson Cooper jokingly asked the crowd seated in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations on Friday (August 10). "Because, I've gotta tell you ... I wanna be here every Friday night if this goes on."

The news anchor was referring to members of the organization and their invited guests who were gathered for a special event leading up to World Humanitarian Day, quickly approaching on Saturday. Cooper, himself a humanitarian in many respects, was on hand to host a series of interviews with local and international humanitarians that would eventually lead into a performance from Beyoncé.

The 30-year-old star had appeared at the United Nations earlier in the day, where she rehearsed her performance of "I Was Here" and met with members of the United Nations. Now, at 8 p.m. ET on Friday night, Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson made his way to the stage welcoming everyone to the General Assembly Hall and giving an early introduction of Beyoncé.

"Tonight brings more than her stunning talents; she brings inspiration to help another person, to help another human being," he told the crowd, going on to describe "I Was Here" as a "profound and moving song." When he slipped on the title for a second, calling the song "I Was There," it became evident that there were some Bey stans in the audience. They quickly corrected him and joined him in laughing it off, while he added, "in fact 'here' and 'there' is the same thing — that's solidarity."
