'Perfect' Aiming for No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Klaudia//December 7, 2017
Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé's "Perfect" could top next week's Billboard Hot 100 (dated Dec. 23), fueled most heavily by a hefty first full week of sales for its new duet version.

On this week's Hot 100 (dated Dec. 16), "Perfect" pushes from No. 5 to a new No. 3 high, aided by a partial first day of impact from the new version. It ranks below Post Malone's "Rockstar," featuring 21 Savage, at No. 1 for an eighth week, and Camila Cabello's "Havana," featuring Young Thug, at its No. 2 peak for a fifth frame.

Highlights of next week's Hot 100, which blends streaming, airplay and sales data, according to Nielsen Music, will post on Billboard.com Monday (Dec. 11).

"Perfect" was first released as a solo song by Sheeran on his album ÷ (Divide), which debuted atop the Billboard 200 dated March 25. Last Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. ET, the new duet version was released, hours before the end of the sales and streaming tracking week. In the tracking week ending tonight, Dec. 7, the song should sell 160,000 or more downloads, according to preliminary data. Such a sum could be enough to propel "Perfect" past "Rockstar" and crown the Hot 100.

For chart purposes, both versions of "Perfect" will contribute to the song's singular listing on the Hot 100. Additionally, following the first full week of tracking for the duet version, which could account for two-thirds of the song's sales in the week, Beyoncé will be added on the Hot 100 as a credited artist on "Perfect."

"Perfect" Duet is heading for Number 1 in the UK

Klaudia//December 5, 2017
Ed Sheeran is set to claim his fourth Number 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart as his latest single Perfect - newly re-worked as a duet with Beyonce - leads the way on the Official Chart Update.

Perfect originally entered the chart at Number 4 back in March, when he released his ÷ album. Last week the track matched its original peak after being given an official single release, and is now set to take this week's top spot after putting out a new version of the song with Beyonce.

If Perfect holds at Number 1, it will become Ed’s fourth UK chart topper following Sing, Thinking Out Loud and Shape of You.

Beyoncé Tops Forbes' Highest-Paid Women in Music List

Klaudia//November 20, 2017
Shortly after Adele took home the Grammy award for Album of the Year in February, she broke it in half--with the intention of physically sharing it with Beyoncé, the internet concluded—in recognition of the latter's Lemonade. But Queen Bey won an even more valuable distinction outright: she's this year's highest-paid woman in music, pulling in a whopping $105 million pretax.

Lemonade was a hit with both critics and fans, giving Beyoncé her sixth solo No. 1. The ensuing Formation World Tour, much of it falling into our list's scoring period, grossed a quarter of a billion dollars. Then she took time off as she and husband Jay-Z welcomed twins Rumi and Sir this summer. Adele finished second, earning $69 million, boosted by seven-figure nightly grosses on her first proper tour since 2011.

In order to form our list, we looked at pretax income from June 1, 2016 through June 1, 2017, and did not take out fees charged by agents, managers and lawyers. We gathered data from Nielsen SoundScan, Pollstar, the RIAA and interviews with industry insiders. The two mononymous stars both earned tens of millions more than the rest of the pack, but there are plenty of notable names further down the list.

"Walk on Water" Debuts at No. 7 in the UK

Klaudia//November 18, 2017
Camila Cabello has fought off challenges from Rita Ora and Eminem to score a third week atop the Official UK Singles Chart with Havana.

Thanks to a new remix featuring Daddy Yankee, and the original Young Thug version still proving popular, Havana finishes 8,000 ahead of nearest competitor Rita Ora. Rising to Number 2, Anywhere is Rita’s third Top 10 single this year and her highest chart placing since I Will Never Let You Down topped the Official Singles Chart in May 2014.

Highest new entry this week comes from Eminem and Beyoncé at Number 7. Walk On Water becomes Eminem’s 28th UK Top 10, and Beyonce’s 19th as a credited performer.

'Runnin' (Lose It All)' Tops TV Commercials Chart

Klaudia//October 15, 2017
Naughty Boy’s “Runnin’ (Lose It All),” featuring Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin, tops Billboard & Clio’s Top TV Commercials chart, powered by Shazam, for September, thanks to the song’s appearance in Chanel’s “Film” ad.

Using tagging data from Shazam, as well as sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music, Billboard partners with Clio Music each month to present a chart ranking the top songs in commercials. Rankings exclude any song that has recently charted within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 or top 10 on a genre chart.

“Runnin’,” which debuted and peaked at No. 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 2015, leads all songs with 70,000 Shazam tags, 6,000 downloads sold and 2 million U.S. streams during the month of September, according to Nielsen Music.

The song is the first No. 1 on the chart for Naughty Boy, Beyonce, and Arrow Benjamin. Beyonce’s previous peak on the chart was at No. 2 on the April 2017-dated list, with “Freedom,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, which appeared in Apple Watch’s “Live Bright” commercial.

Beyonce Blasts to No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100 With 'Mi Gente'

Klaudia//October 9, 2017
Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)" tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a third week, marking a new longevity record for a hit by an unaccompanied female rapper. Plus, J Balvin and Willy William's "Mi Gente" blasts from No. 21 to No. 3, sparked by its newly added featured artist, Beyonce; Imagine Dragons' "Thunder" rumbles 17-7; and Demi Lovato hits a new best career rank, as "Sorry Not Sorry" rises 10-8 on the latest chart (dated Oct. 21).

As we do every Monday, let's run down the top 10 of the Hot 100, which blends all-genre streaming, airplay and sales data. All charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Oct. 10).

"Mi Gente" surges from No. 21 to No. 3 on the Hot 100 (after previously reaching No. 19), after the first full week of tracking for its new remix featuring Beyonce, scoring the chart's greatest gains in sales and streaming. It rockets 34-1 on Digital Song Sales (79,000 sold, up 436 percent, with 87 percent of its sales from its new remix) and 14-5 on Streaming Songs (28.7 million, up 50 percent), while also climbing 32-29 on Radio Songs (46 million, up 18 percent).

J Balvin and William each earn their first Hot 100 top 10, while Beyonce banks her 17th (as a soloist, to go along with 10 as a member of Destiny's Child). She had last reached the region with Lemonade track "Formation," which spent a week at No. 10 (upon its debut) in May 2016. She notches her highest rank since "Drunk in Love," featuring JAY-Z, peaked at No. 2 on Feb. 15, 2014.

Here's How Beyonce Joined J Balvin & Willy William's 'Mi Gente'

Klaudia//September 30, 2017
On Thursday evening, Beyonce shared a 20 second video on Instagram announcing she had joined a remix of J Balvin and Willy William's hit "Mi Gente" and would donate all her proceeds to disaster relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other recently affected Caribbean islands.

Following in the footsteps of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's record-breaking success with the Justin Bieber-featuring "Despacito" remix, Beyonce's good news with a good cause marked a big moment for Latin music in the mainstream. With Queen Bey singing in both Spanish and English on the track, it and its star-studded music video racked up millions of streams in its first 24 hours, topping iTunes' sales charts in 30 countries and YouTube's trend ranking, and looks prime to hit the Hot 100 top 10.

Here's how the collaboration came to be:

A remake of an original song by French DJ Willy Williams, "Mi Gente" had the makings of a global hit when it was first released in April and immediately sparked talk of a general market remix. "But we wanted it to live for a while and get as big as it could on a global scale in Spanish," says Rebeca Leon, who co-manages Balvin with Balvin's label, Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE).

The "lofty goal," says UMLE president Victor Gonzalez, "was to make it No. 1 on Spotify at a global level."

Beyonce's Twins Photo 2nd Most Liked in Instagram History

Klaudia//July 15, 2017
Beyonce's twins are blowing up Instagram once more -- and this time, we actually get to see their faces.

Queen Bey took to her Insta in the early hours Friday (July 14) to unveil her newborns, Sir and Rumi Carter, to commemorate their one-month birthday. In line with the elaborate floral backdrop that Beyonce used when announcing that she was expecting twins in February, the pic shows the singer holding her babies amidst another flower-decked canopy, draped in a pastel gown and sporting a blue veil.

If you recall, Beyonce's pregnancy announcement set the record for Instagram's most-liked picture on the day it was posted (Feb. 1), garnering 6.4 million likes within hours and surpassing Selena Gomez's previous record of 6.305 million on her Coca-Cola ad photo. With her latest baby pic, though, Beyonce has now claimed the top two spots on the most-liked ranking, as it took only 9 hours for it to become the second most liked picture in Instagram history. Just 24 hours after she revealed the Carter babies to the world, the number of likes stands at 9.2 million.

So now the question is, will Beyonce (and her babies) replace herself for the top spot? As of press time, the pregnancy photo is now at 11,113,053 likes, which means the picture with the twins has about 1.8 million more likes to go before Beyonce tops Beyonce. Only time will tell, but it certainly appears to be on track so far.

Diddy edges out Beyoncé as highest-paid entertainer

Klaudia//June 13, 2017
It's still all about the Benjamins for entertainer Sean Combs, who has been named the highest-paid entertainer of 2017 by Forbes magazine.

Diddy, the veteran multi-hyphenate, earned a cool $130 million pretax in the financial magazine's 12-month scoring period and edged out singer Beyoncé for the top spot in the annual rankings.

The 47-year-old mogul's earnings hail from the sale of his Sean John clothing label, which reportedly fetched an estimated $70 million. Additionally, the Ciroc-peddling rapper-producer also banked hefty sums from his vodka partnership and the star-studded Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour, which sold out arenas across the country.

Meanwhile, Bey reportedly earned an estimated $105 million with the help of her Formation World Tour and the release of her "Lemonade" visual album.

"Harry Potter" scribe J.K. Rowling returned to the rankings in the No. 3 spot with $95 million, Toronto-bred rapper Drake earned $94 million and Real Madrid soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo earned $93 million, the magazine reported.

To calculate the Celebrity 100, Forbes evaluates front-of-the-camera talent and reported earnings from June 2016 to June 2017, basing the figures on reports from Nielsen, NPD Bookscan, Pollstar, Box Office Mojo, Songkick, D'Marie and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders and sometimes the stars themselves. Fees for agents, managers and lawyers are not deducted from the totals.

Beyoncé & Jay Z Are Officially A Billion-Dollar Couple

Klaudia//May 18, 2017
Beyoncé and husband Jay Z are set to welcome twins this summer, joining their daughter Blue Ivy, 5. Buying new baby equipment shouldn't be much of a problem: Beyoncé and Jay Z are now officially a billion-dollar couple.

Per FORBES' list of America's Wealthiest Self-Made Women--released today--Beyoncé, 35, has amassed a personal fortune of $350 million. The total for Jay Z, 47, has soared to $810 million per last week's ranking of hip-hop's richest acts (he trails No. 1 Diddy by just $10 million). That brings the couple to a combined net worth of $1.16 billion and counting.

So how, exactly, did they pull it off? Ask Beyoncé, and the answer is straightforward: "I'm never satisfied," she once told FORBES. "I’ve never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry.”

Beyoncé and husband Jay Z also waded into the national debate during the 2016 presidential election, performing at a Hillary Clinton event in Ohio last November and offering vocal support. Taking on a more political tone didn't tamp down the Knowles-Carters' financial prospects; on the contrary, they seem to be only increasing in stature--both in terms of influence and wealth.

'Lemonade' Highest-Selling Album Globally in 2016

Klaudia//April 26, 2017
Yesterday morning (April 25), the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) released its annual Global Music Report, an analysis of the revenue of the recorded-music business worldwide. The biggest headline: the global music business grew 5.9 percent in 2016 over the previous year, the biggest revenue growth since the IFPI began tracking the market in 1997 and the second-straight year of growth after 15 years of decline.

As part of that report, the IFPI also released a list of the top albums and songs globally for 2016, breaking out albums by sales numbers (digital downloads and physical sales) and tallying songs by track sales (individual track downloads) and track-equivalent streams. And while Drake was the top-selling artist worldwide last year -- he was named the IFPI's Global Recording Artist of the Year back in February, though total sales were not released -- Beyoncé's Lemonade was the highest-selling individual album of 2016 across the globe, according to the federation.

IFPI's February announcement included the list of the top 10 global artists of the year, with David Bowie, Coldplay, Adele and Justin Bieber rounding out the top five in order. Twenty One Pilots, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Prince and The Weeknd, respectively, made up the rest of the top 10.

But yesterday's Global Music Report broke down albums and songs individually, showcasing a few surprises. Check out the list below.

Beyoncé Sales Surge After Grammys

Klaudia//February 15, 2017
Adele, Beyoncé and Maren Morris have all seen their sales surge after the Grammys – with some songs rising as much as 6,700%. The digital increase after music’s biggest night was reported by research company Nielsen.

Beyoncé did not win in the main categories despite nine Grammy nominations. She was still rewarded for an epic performance and unreserved praise from Adele.

Beyoncé’s fans responded with strong support on social media and more sales for her Lemonade album, which was up 267% on Sunday over its Friday/ Saturday average. “Formation,” nominated as both Song and Record of the year, grew by 105%. She also sung “Love Drought” (up by 1,249%) and “Sandcastles” (up 1,000%).

Beyoncé shatters most-liked Instagram photo record

Klaudia//February 2, 2017
Beyoncé‘s surprise pregnancy news has set a new Instagram record.

The singer, who announced she was expecting twins with husband Jay Z on Wednesday, received 6.4 million likes and over 339,000 comments on her baby bump photo, less than eight hours after it was posted.

Within the first hour, it had over 2.4 million likes and 166,000 comments.

Queen Bey’s baby post surpasses previous record holder Selena Gomez‘s photo — of herself drinking Coca-Cola with the lyrics “You’re the Spark” from her hit song “Me & The Rhythm” on the bottle — which collected 6.3 million likes since last June.

Similarly on Twitter, the BeyHive were in a frenzy.

Within 45 minutes of Beyoncé making her pregnancy announcement, there were over half a million tweets about the baby news.

By 1:54 p.m. E.T., or within 15 minutes of the announcement, there were over 17,000 tweets sent per minute about Beyonce’s post, according to the social media platform.

Formation World Tour Reaches $210 Million in Ticket Sales

Klaudia//August 21, 2016
Beyonce’s Formation World Tour has now grossed $210 million (and counting). The first two legs of the tour -- through North America in the spring followed by a five-week trek in Europe that wrapped Aug. 3 -- generated 1.8 million tickets sold at 40 performances.

After a brief hiatus, the Formation World Tour will resume on Sept. 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.: the first stop on a final nine-city jaunt through North American markets that will wrap in Nashville on Oct. 2.

The Formation World Tour launched on April 27 in Miami, and concluded its first North American leg on June 14 after playing 23 shows on the continent. The tour headed to Europe and kicked off with a June 28 stadium show in Sunderland, England. The European segment included 17 concerts at 16 venues, with box office sales reaching $86.9 million.

Reported this week by tour promoter Live Nation, revenue from the European leg earns Beyoncé the No. 1 slot on Billboard’s weekly tally of Hot Tours.

Each of the venues on the European schedule hosted the tour for a single night except for London’s Wembley Stadium that drew 142,500 fans on July 2 and 3. The two-night stint earned $15.3 million, the sixth-highest gross of the year based on reported Boxscores from touring artists of all genres.

The best-attended show so far on the Formation World Tour occurred at her July 21 show at the Stade de France in Paris. A total of 75,106 tickets were sold to the concert. (That beats the 55,736 tickets sold to her May 14 Rose Bowl show in Pasadena, Calif. -- which had been the tour’s best-attended show.)

Formation World Tour Has Earned $123 Million in U.S.

Klaudia//July 29, 2016
Beyonce’s Formation World Tour has so far grossed $123 million, through the end of the trek’s first leg, based on box office counts submitted during the past week by concert promoter Live Nation.

The tour’s opening run through the U.S. and Canada, which concluded on June 14, brought in 972,719 attendees from 23 sold out performances.

The latest reports from the promoter -- with sales from the final four venues of the first leg in North America -- totals $26 million, earning the diva the No. 1 slot on the latest Billboard Hot Tours roundup.

The biggest box office take during the opening leg was logged at one of the final stops, a two-show stand at Citi Field in New York City, the home venue of Major League Baseball's New York Mets. The singer performed to sellout crowds in the ballpark on June 7 and 8 with 73,486 fans in attendance. The only other venue with a two-night stint was Soldier Field that hosted concerts on May 27 and 28. The Chicago stadium drew the largest crowd of the two venues with 89,270 sold seats during the run.

The remainder of the 19 stadiums during the Formation World Tour's opening jaunt hosted the trek for just one performance. Of those venues, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, had the highest gross and attendance counts. At a single concert on May 14, the famed Los Angeles-area stadium took in $7.1 million from a crowd of 55,736.

Beyonce & Jay Z Are The Highest-Paid Celebrity Couple

Klaudia//July 11, 2016
Beyoncé continues to live up to her royal nickname: Queen B and husband Jay Z are this year’s highest-paid celebrity couple, raking in a regal $107.5 million over the past year.

The sultry songstress pulled in $54 million, good enough to claim the No. 34 spot on our upcoming Celebrity 100 list—the annual ranking of the world’s top-earning superstars, which will be released tomorrow morning. Jay Z finished a smidgeon behind, taking the No. 36 slot with a $53.5 million tally.

Both got a boost from Beyoncé’s sixth No. 1 album, Lemonade, which debuted exclusively on Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service (his wife and several other Celebrity 100 members are co-owners). But Beyoncé edged her husband in annual earnings by playing 19 shows during our June-to-June scoring period, easily topping Jay Z’s grand total of two.

“I’ve never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry,” the songstress once told FORBES.

All 12 of 'Lemonade' Tracks Debut on Billboard Hot 100

Klaudia//May 3, 2016
As previously reported, Beyonce's Lemonade soars onto the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated May 14), taking the No. 1 spot with 653,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 28, according to Nielsen Music. The set also crowns the sales-based Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with 485,000 in pure album sales, granting the superstar her sixth No. 1 on both charts.

The release of the album additionally spurs all 12 of its tracks to debut on the Billboard Hot 100, while all 12 also appear on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (with 11 debuting), powered by mostly by sales and streams.

With her Hot 100 entrances, Beyonce makes history: it's the first time that a female act has charted 12 or more songs on the Hot 100 at the same time, surpassing Taylor Swift's previous record of 11 (set on Nov. 13, 2010, sparked by the release of her album Speak Now). On Dec. 5, 2015, Justin Bieber bested Drake and the Beatles for the one-week record among all acts: 17 songs on the Hot 100 simultaneously, as his album Purpose debuted atop the Billboard 200.

"Formation," originally released Feb. 6 preceding her Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show performance of the track the following day, leads her parade of debuts with points stemming from 174,000 in digital sales (the most of any of the album's tracks) and 6.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending April 28. While "Formation" charts on the Hot 100 for the first time, it re-enters the 50-position Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 6; it had previously peaked at No. 33 (March 19) based only on its performance at radio.

Of the newly released Lemonade songs (i.e., all except "Formation"), "Sorry" was streamed the most in the tracking week, logging 14.2 million U.S. streams, while "Hold Up" racked up the highest sales: 123,000 downloads in its first week. The sultry "6 Inch," featuring The Weeknd, starts with the third-highest weekly domestic streams (12.2 million) and sales (99,000).

Here's a look, song by song, at Beyonce's dozen tracks apiece on the Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs:

"Formation" Debuts at No. 10 on Billboard Hot 100

Klaudia//May 2, 2016
Capping the Billboard Hot 100's top 10, Beyonce blasts onto the chart at No. 10 with "Formation." The song, from her album Lemonade, which roars onto the Billboard 200 at No. 1, is her 16th solo Hot 100 top 10 and first since "Drunk in Love," featuring Jay Z, which reached No. 2 in February 2014. (Beyonce has also notched 10 top 10s as part of Destiny's Child.)

"Formation" bows with roughly two-thirds of its Hot 100 points from sales, as it starts at No. 3 on Digital Songs with 174,000 sold, having gone on sale April 25. It also enters Streaming Songs at No. 43 (6.5 million) with almost all its streaming points from Tidal, which holds exclusive streaming rights to Lemonade. (A nominal portion of streaming points is from user-generated clips featuring the song's official audio.)

"Formation," which also re-enters Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at a new high of No. 6, had bubbled under the Hot 100 and rose to No. 33 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in March, driven by airplay, when it was not available for purchase (and Tidal did not report the song's streaming totals to Nielsen; none of its streams prior to April 23 were reported by Tidal to Nielsen). The track first made waves in early February, as Beyonce performed it live during the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show (Feb. 7).
