Beyonce & Jay Z Plot 'Tidal X: 1015' Charity Show

Klaudia//September 21, 2016
Jay Z and Beyoncé have recruited numerous superstars to perform at a charity concert in support of the Robin Hood Foundation. The Lemonade singer will perform alongside Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill and Common. The show will take place at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on October 15th and stream exclusively on Tidal.

The concert, titled Tidal X: 1015, will raise money to support education for New York City children, while other as-yet-unnamed charities proposed by the artists will also benefit. "A strong education is one of the best poverty-fighting tools there is,” Robin Hood's executive director David Saltzman said in a statement. "We’re thrilled that the proceeds from this once-in-a-lifetime benefit concert will support great teachers and strengthen schools. It will undoubtedly be an incredible night for everyone, especially our honored guests: the heroic teachers helping our most vulnerable children escape poverty."

TIP, DNCE, Emeli Sandé, Blood Orange, Cipha Sounds, Prince Royce and Salva are also part of the initial lineup alongside TIDAL Rising Acts Mark E. Bassy, Lil Yachty, Kevin Garrett, Danielle Bradbery, Sir The Baptist, Bebe Rexha and Levi Carter. Angie Martinez has been tapped to host the concert.

Tidal members and American Express card holders will be able to purchase tickets on September 22nd at 10 a.m. EST while general on-sale begins on September 26th.

Beyonce's Style Explored in New Book

Klaudia//August 31, 2016
Katie Baron’s Fashion + Music delves behind the scenes to understand the beginnings and making of Beyonce’s iconic style.

Written by former Dazed and Vogue contributor and trend forecaster, Katie Baron, the book gives a unique insight into how fashion and music, working as twin agents, have reflected but also influenced popular culture. It features exclusive interviews with the creatives behind some of the most iconic and era-defining looks of music’s greatest heroes, including Beyonce. It explores the power of fashion as a make-or-break tool within the music industry’s creative process and gives context to the sound.

There are two chapters featuring Beyonce and her work with B Akerlund and Jenke-Ahmed Tailly. The Akerlund chapter looks at their partnership for the campaign announcing the 2013 Mrs Carter World Tour, and the 2013 "Beyonce" visual album in particular the styling for "Superpower".

The Tailly chapter is solely focused on the partnership between Beyonce and her former creative director and that unique time period in Beyonce's career.

Formation World Tour Reaches $210 Million in Ticket Sales

Klaudia//August 21, 2016
Beyonce’s Formation World Tour has now grossed $210 million (and counting). The first two legs of the tour -- through North America in the spring followed by a five-week trek in Europe that wrapped Aug. 3 -- generated 1.8 million tickets sold at 40 performances.

After a brief hiatus, the Formation World Tour will resume on Sept. 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.: the first stop on a final nine-city jaunt through North American markets that will wrap in Nashville on Oct. 2.

The Formation World Tour launched on April 27 in Miami, and concluded its first North American leg on June 14 after playing 23 shows on the continent. The tour headed to Europe and kicked off with a June 28 stadium show in Sunderland, England. The European segment included 17 concerts at 16 venues, with box office sales reaching $86.9 million.

Reported this week by tour promoter Live Nation, revenue from the European leg earns Beyoncé the No. 1 slot on Billboard’s weekly tally of Hot Tours.

Each of the venues on the European schedule hosted the tour for a single night except for London’s Wembley Stadium that drew 142,500 fans on July 2 and 3. The two-night stint earned $15.3 million, the sixth-highest gross of the year based on reported Boxscores from touring artists of all genres.

The best-attended show so far on the Formation World Tour occurred at her July 21 show at the Stade de France in Paris. A total of 75,106 tickets were sold to the concert. (That beats the 55,736 tickets sold to her May 14 Rose Bowl show in Pasadena, Calif. -- which had been the tour’s best-attended show.)

"Hold Up" Impacting Rhythmic Radio

Klaudia//August 4, 2016
With Beyonce’s “Sorry” fading at rhythmic radio, Columbia Records is beginning to shift focus to the follow-up single.

“Hold Up,” said follow-up, was recently made available to rhythmic radio programmers. It will officially impact in conjunction with the August 16 add board.

Radio has already shown some interest in the song. In the days following the release of “Lemonade” — prior to Columbia’s confirmation that “Sorry” would be the official radio single — “Hold Up” registered as one of the album’s most played tracks.

“Sorry,” which is still gaining in airplay (though not necessarily moving to a higher position) at the urban format, peaked at #6 on the Mediabase rhythmic chart.

Down 23.2% in airplay versus the same time last week, it is #8 on the building chart for the current tracking period.

Formation World Tour Has Earned $123 Million in U.S.

Klaudia//July 29, 2016
Beyonce’s Formation World Tour has so far grossed $123 million, through the end of the trek’s first leg, based on box office counts submitted during the past week by concert promoter Live Nation.

The tour’s opening run through the U.S. and Canada, which concluded on June 14, brought in 972,719 attendees from 23 sold out performances.

The latest reports from the promoter -- with sales from the final four venues of the first leg in North America -- totals $26 million, earning the diva the No. 1 slot on the latest Billboard Hot Tours roundup.

The biggest box office take during the opening leg was logged at one of the final stops, a two-show stand at Citi Field in New York City, the home venue of Major League Baseball's New York Mets. The singer performed to sellout crowds in the ballpark on June 7 and 8 with 73,486 fans in attendance. The only other venue with a two-night stint was Soldier Field that hosted concerts on May 27 and 28. The Chicago stadium drew the largest crowd of the two venues with 89,270 sold seats during the run.

The remainder of the 19 stadiums during the Formation World Tour's opening jaunt hosted the trek for just one performance. Of those venues, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, had the highest gross and attendance counts. At a single concert on May 14, the famed Los Angeles-area stadium took in $7.1 million from a crowd of 55,736.

Beyoncé to Wear Francesco Scognamiglio in Milan

Klaudia//July 15, 2016
Francesco Scognamiglio has designed one of the outfits that Beyoncé will wear on Monday night in Milan on the stage of her “Formation” world tour.

The Neapolitan designer, who debuted his first haute couture collection in Paris earlier this month, realized a hooded bomber jacket entirely covered with Swarovski, as well as a pair of pants combining crystals with precious floral-inspired decorations.

“I wanted to interpret the energy, strength, femininity and talent of a real style icon through my personal point of view with the goal of creating an unforgettable look,” Scognamiglio said.

Since the early stages of his career, the designer has often worked with international celebrities, in particular Madonna, who wore a Scognamiglio outfit in her “Give It 2 Me” video, directed by Tom Munro in 2008.

'Lemonade' Picks Up Four Emmy Nominations

Klaudia//July 15, 2016
The 2016 Emmy Awards nominations are in, and for the 16th straight year, HBO is the top-nominated network with a total of 94 nods. And while a few music-related entities are among the potential honorees -- Taraji P. Henson's Cookie Lyon character from Fox hit Empire was one; Broadway star Audra McDonald as Billie Holliday in HBO film Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill another -- Beyonce's HBO special/"visual album" Lemonade was shut out of the major categories.

Lemonade was, however, nominated four times. First, in the category Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Event Or Award Special; Hannah Beachler (Production Designer), Chris Britt (Art Director) and Kim Murphy (Set Decorator) are the people who stand to receive the award if the special wins against designers for Grease: Live, He Named Me Malala, the Oscars broadcast and The Wiz Live.

Second, Beyonce herself, alongside director Kahlil Joseph, are nominated in the Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special category. The duo are up against Grease: Live, the Grammy Awards broadcast, the Kennedy Center Honors broadcast and live specials from Adele and Amy Schumer. Third, editor Bill Yukich is up for Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming, against episodes of Drunk History, Conan, Key & Peele and Last Week Tonight with Jon Oliver.

And finally, Lemonade as a whole has been nominated in the Outstanding Variety Special category, up against Adele Live In New York City, Amy Schumer: Live At The Apollo, The Kennedy Center Honors and The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Prime Time Special. The two nominations (for directing and for the special as a whole) bring Beyonce's total number of nominations to four through the years; previously she was nominated in 2013 for her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, and again in 2015 for her On The Run tour documentary alongside husband Jay Z.

Beyonce & Jay Z Are The Highest-Paid Celebrity Couple

Klaudia//July 11, 2016
Beyoncé continues to live up to her royal nickname: Queen B and husband Jay Z are this year’s highest-paid celebrity couple, raking in a regal $107.5 million over the past year.

The sultry songstress pulled in $54 million, good enough to claim the No. 34 spot on our upcoming Celebrity 100 list—the annual ranking of the world’s top-earning superstars, which will be released tomorrow morning. Jay Z finished a smidgeon behind, taking the No. 36 slot with a $53.5 million tally.

Both got a boost from Beyoncé’s sixth No. 1 album, Lemonade, which debuted exclusively on Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service (his wife and several other Celebrity 100 members are co-owners). But Beyoncé edged her husband in annual earnings by playing 19 shows during our June-to-June scoring period, easily topping Jay Z’s grand total of two.

“I’ve never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry,” the songstress once told FORBES.
