Beyoncé documentary premiering Feb. 16 on HBO

Klaudia//November 26, 2012
Multiple Grammy®-winner, entrepreneur and actress Beyoncé will be the focus of an intimate feature-length HBO documentary film debuting Feb. 16, 2013, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Directed by the superstar, the film is a fusion of video that provides raw, unprecedented access to the private entertainment icon and high-voltage performances.

“Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person,” said Lombardo. “Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”

“HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity,” said Beyoncé. “Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home."

The film is a multi-faceted portrait of the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer, businesswoman, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, wife and mother, showing off the extraordinary gifts that have made her a global phenomenon, and stripping away the veneer of stardom. It includes extensive first-person footage, some of it shot by Beyoncé on her laptop, in which she reflects on the realities of celebrity, the refuge she finds onstage and the transcendent joy of becoming a mother last year.

The film sheds light on her childhood in Houston, with home movies revealing the close bond she built with her family and charts the challenges Beyoncé felt when she decided to manage her career and build her own company, Parkwood Entertainment. The film also captures the intense physical and emotional demands she goes through in the studio, preparing for live performances, running a business and her family life including her return to the spotlight after the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in January 2012.

Beyoncé also serves as the film’s executive producer.

Beyonce loses voice on TV special

Klaudia//July 16, 2011
R&B superstar Beyonce was forced to cut short a special TV concert taping on Thursday after she began losing her voice. The singer began filming A Night With Beyonce at a London studio on Wednesday, belting out hits such as Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), Crazy In Love, Irreplaceable and Halo, as well as songs from her latest album 4. She shot the second half of the hour-long show for U.K. network ITV on Thursday, performing new tracks including 1+1, Party and Run The World (Girls). But she had to call time on the set after struggling to maintain her powerful voice towards the end of the gig, blaming her lack of rest, and apologised to fans in the audience for making Countdown her last song of the night. Sources tell WENN she then enlisted the help of her devotees to sing the chorus, before exiting the stage to rousing applause and cheers. Earlier in the day, Beyonce treated her waiting fans to free pizza to show her appreciation for their support. Attendees began lining up outside the studio doors hours before showtime to ensure they got prime seats for the intimate show. A Night With Beyonce is due to air in the U.K. later this year.

Beyonce admits blowing snot bubbles on stage

Klaudia//July 15, 2011
Beyonce yesterday admitted blowing snot bubbles and sweating too much when she’s on stage. The 29-year-old singer told ITV: “My nose runs a lot and when I’m singing I can’t blow it, so there have been occasions when I’ve ended up with a ‘bubble’ coming out my nose.” She went on: “Everyone thinks I have the fans (wind machines) because I’m being fashionable, but I work so hard on stage if I didn’t have them I’d be dripping.” The former Destiny’s Child singer also confessed to not liking parts of her body, saying: “If I could change one part it would be my feet. After all the years dancing they’re a little beat up. And I wear big earrings because I don’t like my ears.” She also admitted wearing four pairs of stockings to prevent “unflattering” pictures and “keep me secure on stage” in the interview for a show which is expected to be screened in December.

Beyoncé, fresh from her Glastonbury triumph, has reportedly agreed to appear in a one-off, hour-long show on ITV1 after the X Factor semi-final in December. The former Destiny’s Child star will perform her biggest hits and new material in the Beyoncé Music Special which will be hosted by X Factor USA presenter Steve Jones. ‘Beyoncé is one of the hottest international stars around right now and ITV are thrilled to get her,’ a source told The People. ‘To land her for an exclusive show is a massive coup. They are confident it will be a huge ratings success.’ The singer was rumoured to have been asked to return to ITV’s X Factor talent show by her former bandmate Kelly Rowland, who will be judging the series. She previously performed in the 2008 final alongside the eventual winner of that series, Alexandra Burke. It has not yet been confirmed if she will be appearing on the X Factor show.

Beyonce Takes Fans Inside 'Year Of 4' In MTV Special

Klaudia//June 28, 2011
Beyoncé released 4 on Tuesday (June 28), and she's taking fans behind-the-scenes of her new album in the MTV special "Beyoncé: Year of 4," set to premiere on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, BET, VH1 and Palladia (encore presentations will air on MTV.com, MTV Hits and MTV Jams immediately after the show's world premiere). The special was filmed during Beyoncé's year off, as she set out to discover what she wanted next in her career. It kicks off as B wraps up her I Am Tour, and finds herself at a crossroads before eventually giving into her mother's advice to take some time off. "My life was award shows and tour buses and hotels and it kind of goes by so fast ... I couldn't even hear it anymore," she says of her whirlwind schedule. "I'm just thinking about the next shoot ... the next video ... the next tour." Fans are with Queen B as she travels, hangs out with family, friends and husband Jay-Z, and takes time to reflect on her crazy successful career. "I never even realized I needed a year off," she later says. "And I never realized I don't know how to take a year off." During this reflective time in her life, Beyoncé also began working on her most eclectic album to date, mixing genres and styles to make 4. The special also takes a look at her career as she takes charge of her business. "It was very risky for me to set out on my own," she says. "Sometimes we don't reach for the stars, sometimes we are satisfied with what people tell us we're supposed to be satisfied with, and I'm just not going for it." 4, B's fourth solo album, is a mix of sassy uptempo tracks like the lead single "Run the World (Girls)," soft ballads like "1+1," as well as sassy midtempo songs like "Best Thing I Never Had." She worked with producers and artists like The-Dream, Kanye West and Andre 3000 for the release. "Being able to take viewers behind the creative curtain of one of the world's most amazing and talented artists, Beyoncé, in the lead-up to her album release is a pure thrill," Van Toffler, President, MTV Music Group, LOGO and Film, said in a statement. "This honest and intimate special provides her audience and fans a rare opportunity to witness a true, musical genius at work and the stories that defined and inspired her incredible new album." Tune in to "Beyoncé: Year of 4," airing Thursday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, BET, VH1 and Palladia. Encore presentations follow on MTV.com, MTV Hits and MTV Jams.

More info about "I Am... World Tour"

Klaudia//November 3, 2010
One just wasn’t enough for Beyoncé. After millions of fans licked their Thanksgiving plates clean while watching her dance her tail off on her intimate Las Vegas I Am…Yours turkey day special last year, Queen B is coming back for seconds. Documenting the international leg of her 2009 concerts, ABC will premiere the broadcast version of Beyoncé‘s I AM…WORLD TOUR in another primetime special at 9:30pm EST/PST this Thanksgiving. I got to check out a screening of the concert movie a few weeks ago. Look out for plenty of behind the scenes footage–some even shot by Beyoncé on her laptop. As someone who’s known to be one of the strongest women in a business, it’s interesting to see what she’s like when the curtain is pulled back. You’ll see Beyoncé distraught–even in tears at times–when talking about how much she misses home and specifically her husband, Jay-Z. So much so that she starts a “Day-Z” countdown, marking the days left before she can fly back across the Atlantic to briefly see him. Still, the shows go on in their high-heeled, wonderfully choreographed glory. Kanye West and Jay even pop up on stage for a bit. Produced and directed by Beyoncé for her Parkwood Pictures, Beyoncé‘s I AM…WORLD TOUR will be exclusively sold through Walmart starting Nov. 26.
