Beyonce & Jay Z Sell Out On The Run Tour

Klaudia//September 5, 2014
Beyonce and Jay Z land atop the Billboard Hot Tours chart, having wrapped the North American leg of their On the Run tour that played stadiums in 16 markets during a six-week span in the summer. Box office grosses totaled $96 million from ticket sales reported by tour promoter Live Nation for 19 sold-out performances during the summertime trek that kicked off June 25 in Florida and wrapped Aug. 6 in California.

The co-headlining couple booked two-show engagements in three markets on the schedule: New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The New York/New Jersey metropolitan area hosted the tour on July 11 and 12 with an attendance count of 89,165 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. With ticket sales totaling $11.5 million, the New Jersey venue was the top-grossing stadium during the tour's U.S. and Canadian run. Los Angeles-area fans saw the tour at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena with performances on Aug. 2 and 3. Jay Z and Beyoncé performed for 96,994 fans at the historic Southern California football venue, grossing $10.9 million. The final stadium during the summer run was AT&T Park, home of Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants. The Bay Area generated $8.8 million in ticket sales from 73,020 seats for sellouts on Aug. 5 and 6. Jay and Bey will cross the pond for the tour's final engagement, a two-night stand in Paris on Sept. 12 and 13. The two concerts will occur at Stade de France and will be taped by HBO for broadcast on Sept. 20.

Jonas Akerlund to Film "On The Run" HBO Special

Klaudia//August 29, 2014
The most talked about event of the summer turns into the most talked about music program of the year.

The “On The Run” tour with Beyonce and Jay Z makes its debut on HBO on September 20th for an event unlike anything you’ve ever seen. 19 stops and 40 songs will be presented for your viewing pleasure, as Jonas Åkerlund films the Paris’ Stade de France shows on September 12 and 13.

When tasked with trying to find the right person to capture two of the world’s top musicians on the tour of a lifetime, Jonas Åkerlund was the natural choice. After all, Jonas is Madonna’s go-to for concert documentaries, and filmed the lauded “Live Kisses” for Paul McCartney. Take that and add some Beyonce and Jay Z, and there’s bound to be magic.

The hits, the wardrobe changes, the new arrangements, and the power that is the world’s top Mr. and Mrs. of music, all brought to your screen. Don’t miss out; set your DVRs for September 20 on HBO.

Beyoncé Leads Post-VMA Sales Gains

Klaudia//August 29, 2014
As the post-MTV VMA numbers show, performing on a big award show is not just fun and exciting, it usually means big bucks for artists. Every single one of the artists that took to the stage saw their songs and albums work their way up the iTunes charts immediately following the show, some with numbers so high it’s hard to believe there was that much more room to grow.

It goes without question that Beyoncé stole the show, as she typically does. The singer performed a medley of songs from her self-titled album that she dropped without advance warning this past December. Once she finished, husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy (who had possibly the second biggest moment of the show when she adorably congratulated her mother) presented her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the highest honor the VMA can bestow.

Having not only the most screen time but perhaps the best performance, Beyoncé saw some of the biggest gains in sales after the show. Her Beyoncé album rose from #40 to #7 on iTunes, increasing in sales by more than 1,400%. It is worth noting that the album was released in December, where it immediately went to number one, and has continued to sell ever since, so rising in sales over 1,000% is a feat not to be underestimated.

On top of that, every song she performed—if only for one verse or for less than a minute—also saw impressive gains. In order of how much each track grew in sales, here are her tracks: “XO” (up 1,648%), “Flawless” (up 1,237%), “Rocket” (up 584%), “Partition” (up 390%), “Pretty Hurts” (up 332%), and “Drunk In Love” (up 324%).

MTV Video Music Awards 2014

Klaudia//August 25, 2014
Last night Beyonce attended the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The singer closed the show with a nearly 20-minute medley of all the songs from her new album. Right after the performance, Jay-Z appeared onstage with Blue Ivy to present her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Beyonce also won three other awards: Best Collaboration ("Drunk in Love"), Best Video with a Social Message ("Pretty Hurts") and Best Cinematography ("Pretty Hurts"). Congratulations!

Beyoncé Wax Figure in Regent's Park

Klaudia//August 21, 2014
Passers-by in Regent’s Park were treated to a VIP ‘festival’ scene yesterday morning as Madame Tussauds unveiled the staggeringly realistic new wax figure of international superstar Beyoncé to a small gathering of fans. The figure will make a guest appearance in London this summer before taking up residence in Madame Tussauds San Francisco later this year.

The world-renowned singer was revealed in her iconic hand-on-hip stage pose, dressed in an intricately embellished gold structured leotard inspired by her ‘Mrs Carter Show World Tour’. The striking figure is performance ready, holding a microphone by her side – perfect for fans to ‘step into’ the scene and join her for a selfie.

“We’re delighted to welcome this brand new figure of megastar Beyoncé to the attraction this summer”, commented Matthew Clarkson, Madame Tussauds' Marketing Manager. “With her current ‘On The Run’ tour delighting fans around the world, we thought it was the right time to have a special visit from the Queen of Pop. We’re sure that her fans will love getting up close to their idol, and won’t want to miss the chance to see her before she jets off to Madame Tussauds San Francisco this Autumn.”

Fans will have the chance to meet the new Beyoncé figure and pose for ‘selfies’ from today until the Autumn, when she will move to Madame Tussauds San Francisco. In London, Beyoncé will join a host of female superstars in the Baker Street attraction’s Music area, including Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Kylie.

Beyoncé to perform and collect Vanguard Award at MTV VMAs

Klaudia//August 7, 2014
All hail Queen Bey! As suspected, Beyonce will play a major role in this year's MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Aug. 24. The "Flawless" superstar is set to be honored with the 2014 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the network revealed on Thursday, Aug. 7.

"Over the course of MTV history, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award has been presented to exemplary musicians who have made an incredible and long-lasting impact on pop culture," an announcement on MTV's website read. "When it came time to choose the 2014 VMA recipient, one particular name stood out above the rest—global entertainer, singer-songwriter, and philanthropist Beyonce."

Bey joins an exclusive list of past recipients including Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Michael Jackson himself, who won the honor in 1988. She's up for eight other awards, too, including Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Best Choreography.

Blue Ivy's mom is also set to take the stage to perform at the 2014 MTV VMAs, which will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. This will be her fourth time performing at the event; she previously stole the show in 2006, 2009, and 2011.

Jay Z & Beyonce's On The Run Tour Tops $100 Million

Klaudia//August 5, 2014
Jay Z and Beyonce's On The Run tour wraps in North America with two nights at AT&T Park in San Francisco, both tonight (August 5) and tomorrow night (August 6). The pair's 19 North American shows will gross over $100 million in ticket sales and has sold at more than 90 percent capacity, according to Omar Al-Joulani, vp of North American touring for Live Nation, the promoter/producer of the tour. Attendance will top out at more than 850,000.

Al-Joulani declined to comment on press reports of rancor between the couple, adding that he hadn’t read it. Regarding such reports, and speculation that Live Nation might be losing money on the tour, Al-Joulani would only say, “everybody’s winning.” And regarding reports that the plug might be pulled on the tour, the promoter adds, “Production is loading-in in San Francisco as we speak.”

Some reports put the couple's performance guarantee at $4 million per show, which is a reasonable figure, considering the tour's nightly take is over $5.2 million from an average attendance of nearly 45,000 per show. As predicted by Billboard back in June -- when inaccurate reports that the tour was struggling began to surface -- sales for the tour finished strong, following a general market trend of tickets selling closer to show date. “These shows sold tremendously well at the end, so we were able to sell-up limited-view and clean up production holds or other holds,” says Al-Joulani. “It was a very successful tour, and we’re pleased to have that big gross number at the end.”

The Jay/Bey tour was conceived and launched fast compared to most stadium tours, which are often planned more than a year in advance. “It came together quite quickly, around mid-March,” says Al-Joulani. “By April, we had everything together, and once the routing was in place we had about three weeks until the tour was announced.”

Beyonce Releasing "Flawless" Remix Featuring Nicki Minaj?

Klaudia//July 31, 2014
Nicki Minaj had the entire internet extra thirsty earlier this week when she dropped off the bootyfull single art for her upcoming record "Anaconda", which was originally due out July 28th. Unfortunately, Nicki had a slight delay in plans and decided to push back the release date until August 4th, and explained we "will understand why before the week is out."

Well, rumors are circulating that the reason Nicki pushed back the release date was because Beyonce is about to drop off a new remix featuring the female YMCMB rapper. According to HipHopWired, a music industry source says Nicki pushed her single back in order to avoid it getting lost in the sure to be excitement of a new track with Beyonce.

The rumored remix is for Beyonce’s song “Flawless”, and will feature a verse from Nicki Minaj. But better yet, MissInfo reports that its possible we hear Beyonce rapping her verse on this remix, and not singing it. So could we be seeing both Nicki and Beyonce delivering bars on one track soon?

Hopefully these rumors are true, and we won’t have to wait too much long to hear the end result!

Beyonce exhibit to debut at Rock Hall-Museum

Klaudia//July 20, 2014
A fashion exhibit centered on Beyonce will debut at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in a section previously featuring only Hall of Famers.

The Rock Hall announced Friday that outfits from Beyonce's Super Bowl performance and music videos will debut Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Ahmet Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall in its Legends of Rock section, next to iconic pieces from Michael Jackson, David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen.

The 32-year-old Beyonce would be eligible for induction into the Rock Hall as a member of Destiny's Child in 2022 and as a solo artist in 2027.

The exhibit in Cleveland, Ohio, will feature Beyonce's ubiquitous black leotard from her "Single Ladies" music video, as well as her body suit, skirt and jacket from her Super Bowl performance last year in New Orleans.

Rock Hall curator Meredith Rutledge-Borger said they have been trying to court Beyonce "for a really long time."

"When we looked at the depth of the amount of stuff that she was willing to send, we just thought, 'The only way we can really showcase these items is to put them in the Legends of Rock area in the museum,' which really is the spot that we have to pay tribute to legends of rock, which Beyonce has proven herself to be," she said in an interview.

On the Run Tour Debuts in September on HBO

Klaudia//July 11, 2014
ON THE RUN TOUR: BEYONCÉ AND JAY Z, featuring the superstars in their first collaborative tour – and their first HBO concert event – will debut in September, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Taping September 12 and 13 at Stade de France in Paris on the only international leg of their current tour, the special will feature the superstars performing more than 40 songs.

“This is a major musical event that belongs on HBO,” noted Lombardo. “It’s going to be a night to remember.”

Although 17-time Grammy winner Beyoncé and 19-time Grammy winner JAY Z have recorded numerous hit songs together, including “Crazy in Love” and “Drunk in Love,” and have been special guests on each other’s tours, ON THE RUN TOUR: BEYONCÉ AND JAY Z marks the first time the married couple has toured together on the same bill. The tour covers 19 stadiums in the U.S. and two stadium shows in Paris.

USA Today said of the tour, which began June 26 in Miami, “The coordination is not just remarkable, it’s the absolute best way that two of the world’s best performers can deliver a show that proves why they are on top together,” while the New York Times hailed it as “a show that acknowledged their two very different sorts of success without diminishing either one.”

Beyoncé is currently appearing on HBO in “BEYONCÉ: X10,” a ten-episode series of concert performances debuting Sunday nights before “True Blood”; she was previously seen on the network in the intimate feature-length documentary “Life Is But a Dream,” which debuted in Feb. 2013. JAY Z’s “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film” had its world premiere on HBO in Aug. 2013.
