Beyonce Sued By Video Game Developer

Klaudia//April 28, 2011
Developer Gate Five is suing recording artist Beyonce Knowles for over $100 million. The company is accusing her of "a bad faith breach of contract" over a video game they were developing, entitled Starpower: Beyonce. According to New York Magazine, Starpower: Beyonce was going to be a motion-sensing music game. Players would be able to dance along to select Beyonce songs. At a "critical moment" in the game's development last fall, though, things got ugly between Beyonce and Gate Five. According to Gate Five's lawsuit, Beyonce "made an extortionate demand for entirely new compensation terms she wanted. This move drove away the person(s) financing the project. Beyonce then broke her contract and dropped out. "In early December everything was still a go. And then the week of Christmas, she said that's it, I don't want to hear from you guys, go away, resulting in 70 people losing their jobs," Gate Five founder Greg Easley told NY Mag. "We'd much rather make a game than litigate. But we want to recover damages that Gate Five suffered." Gate Five's looking to recover the $6.7 million they invested in the game in addition to over $100 million in potential profits lost.

Beyonce Defends Fiery Heat Ads

Klaudia//March 2, 2011
Beyonce has defended her controversial perfume commercials after they were deemed too sexy for U.K. TV, insisting she has no regrets over the advertisements. The steamy clip for Beyonce's Heat fragrance, which features the singer lying in a bathtub and seductively stroking her chest, was banned by officials at the Advertising Standards Authority in November (10). But the Crazy in Love hitmaker is unfazed by viewers' complaints, admitting she found the furore "funny". She tells Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine, "I wasn't annoyed, I thought it was funny. Personally, I don't think my ad was any more crazy sexy than other ads out there - I loved it, despite whatever anyone else thought. "It was based on a really hot George Michael video and yes, it was sexy, but then you have to think about what you're doing. It was for my fragrance and I believe a wonderful fragrance brings out the sex appeal in a woman. That was what I was trying to express. I don't regret it."
