Beyoncé To Be Honored At The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame

Klaudia//May 6, 2021
Today, the Black American Music Association (BAMA) and Georgia Entertainment Caucus (GEC) announced the names of the twelve inaugural inductees for the new Atlanta landmark, The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame.

Amongst the honorees are Beyoncé (Mainstream Female), Usher (Mainstream Male), Missy Elliot (Hip Hop Female), Outkast (Hip Hop Male), Michael Jackson (Legacy Artists), Sean Love Combs (Mainstream Mogul), Shirley Caesar (Gospel Female), and Kirk Franklin (Gospel Male).

The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame was announced back in February along with its chosen foundational inductees, Quincy Jones, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Otis Redding, and was designed “to honor iconic individuals and organizations that have impacted Black culture and community alongside those who continue to lead us into the future,” in time for Black Music Month in June.

It’s being installed in the historic downtown Atlanta area on the sidewalks of Martin Luther King Jr. and Northside and will be unveiled at a formal induction ceremony on June 17.

“Our first round of inductees includes many of my colleagues, and I am excited to celebrate their vast contributions to the preservation of Black Music and Entertainment,” stated one of GEC’s founders, Catherine Brewton. “The BMEWOF crown jewel of excellence emblems— designed by renowned artist D.L. Warfield and created in collaboration with sculptor and historian Ed Dwight—will be housed in front of the Mercedes Benz Dome, one of Atlanta’s most historic landmarks.”

Beyoncé Makes Surprise Cameo On Jay-Z's New Song With Nas

Klaudia//April 30, 2021
Ex-rivals Jay-Z and Nas collaborating on the same track wasn’t the only surprise that DJ Khaled’s new song, ‘SORRY NOT SORRY,’ brought. If you listen closely, Beyoncé is also on the track!

Hey to you too, Beyoncé! Her husband Jay-Z, 51, made a surprise move by linking up with his former rival Nas, 47, to rap on DJ Khaled‘s new track “SORRY NOT SORRY,” which was track No. 10 on his star-studded project Khaled Khaled that came out on April 30. But their unlikely partnership wasn’t the only surprise on the song: Beyoncé sings one word — “Hey” — after Jay-Z raps, “Sorry, that’s another B / Haters still ain’t recover from the other B, mm / That’s a double B, now that’s a treble B / Can’t forget ’bout the other B.” We see what the power couple did there.

But Beyoncé does more than say “hey.” She also lends her beautiful vocals to harmonize on “SORRY NOT SORRY,” which solves the mystery as to who Harmonies by The Hive is (one of the featured artists on the song, along with James Fauntleroy). While Beyoncé didn’t appear in the song’s accompanying music video, the video does address her surprising cameo: once she sings “Hey,” Jay-Z looks behind his shoulder.
