Beyoncé and JAY-Z to be honored at GLAAD Media Awards in LA

March 12, 2019

GLAAD announced Monday morning that those incomparable forces of nature and culture Beyonce and Jay-Z will be honored with the Vanguard Award at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

The Vanguard Award is presented to allies who have made a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people. Previous honorees include Cher, Elizabeth Taylor, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Aniston, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Kerry Washington, Patricia Arquette, and last year’s recipient Britney Spears.

“Beyoncé and Jay- Z are global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “When Beyoncé and Jay-Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear. We could not be prouder to stand with them to send a message of love during the biggest LGBTQ event in the world and to honor their work to bend the arc of justice forward for LGBTQ people, people of color, and marginalized communities everywhere.”

Beyonce and Jay-Z have been long-time allies to LGBTQ people. Beyonce is a deity to the LGBTQ community and has collaborated with LGBTQ artists including Big Freedia and Frank Ocean. In addition, she has shown her support for marriage equality and has spoken against anti-LGBTQ laws. She also dedicated her performance of “Halo” to the victims and survivors of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting during “The Formation World Tour.” Ivy Park, her athleisure clothing line, showcased transgender actress Laverne Cox as one of the featured faces in one of the brand’s promos.

The Carters Win Brit Award for Best International Group

Beyoncé and Jay-Z pretaped an acceptance speech re-creating their “Apeshit” video to accept their award for Best International Group at the last night's BRIT Awards. Beyonce also wrote on Instagram:

"Thank you to the Brits for the award for Best International Group. I won this award back in 2002 with my besties, Kelly and Michelle. How lucky am I to have been in a group with my other best friend, the GOAT Hova. 🙌🏾 In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! The Carters Nominated at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards

Nominations for the 2019 NAACP Image Awards were announced on Wednesday (February 13). Beyoncé and JAY-Z, a.k.a. The Carters, have been nominated for three awards in the music categories, including Outstanding Album. Earlier, Queen Bey also received a solo nomination for Entertainer of the Year.

The 2019 NAACP Awards are scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on March 30. The ceremony will air live on TV One.

The Carters Win Grammy Award For ‘Everything Is Love’

Beyoncé and Jay-Z won a Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album for their collaboration “Everything Is Love.”

The Recording Academy announced the award shortly before the 61st annual Grammy Awards ceremony kicked off on Sunday. The power couple, who record together as The Carters, released the joint album this past June.

The “Everything Is Love” duo was also nominated for Best R&B Performance for “Summer,” and Best Music Video for “Apeshit.”

The couple did not attend the ceremony this year.

The 2014 Soul Train Awards aired on BET on Sunday, and awards were handed out to the biggest stars in the music industry. Going into the ceremony, Beyoncé was nominated for six awards. Last night the 2014 American Music Awards were held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Beyonce, nominated in three categories, won two awards — Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album ("BEYONCÉ")! Unfortunately, the singer didn't attend the ceremony.
Last night MTV Europe Music Awards were held at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Rumors of Beyonce performing at the gala turned out to be false, as the singer didn't attend the show. However, she won the award for Best Song with a Message ("Pretty Hurts"), collecting 601,104 votes from fans on Twitter. Congratulations!
Both the nominees and hosts were announced Wednesday for the 2015 People's Choice Awards, set to air from the Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Jan. 7 from 9 p.m. - 11 p.m. ET on CBS.

Executive producer Mark Burnett revealed that Anna Faris and Allison Janney, stars of CBS' sitcom "Mom," will host the show. The actresses were also on hand Wednesday to help announce the nominees at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, California.

Last night the 2014 MOBO Awards were held at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London. Beyonce, who was nominated against Chris Brown, Drake, Iggy Azalea, J Cole, Jhene Aiko, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell and Trey Songz, was honoured with the Best International Act title. Congratulations!
CENTRIC announced the nominees for SOUL TRAIN AWARDS 2014, which will celebrate and honor R&B’s finest and most soulful artists on November 7, 2014 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Hosted by Wendy Williams, this year’s fete will take Vegas by storm with not -to-be missed moments, including Unforgettable performances, iconic tributes, and appearances by today’s leading musicians. The SOUL TRAIN AWARDS 2014 will air on CENTRIC and BET on November 30, 2014 at 8PM ET/PT.

SOUL TRAIN AWARDS 2014 will honor artists in 12 different categories. Beyoncé received six nominations:

Last night Beyonce attended the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The singer closed the show with a nearly 20-minute medley of all the songs from her new album. Right after the performance, Jay-Z appeared onstage with Blue Ivy to present her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Beyonce also won three other awards: Best Collaboration ("Drunk in Love"), Best Video with a Social Message ("Pretty Hurts") and Best Cinematography ("Pretty Hurts"). Congratulations!

All hail Queen Bey! As suspected, Beyonce will play a major role in this year's MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Aug. 24. The "Flawless" superstar is set to be honored with the 2014 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the network revealed on Thursday, Aug. 7.

"Over the course of MTV history, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award has been presented to exemplary musicians who have made an incredible and long-lasting impact on pop culture," an announcement on MTV's website read. "When it came time to choose the 2014 VMA recipient, one particular name stood out above the rest—global entertainer, singer-songwriter, and philanthropist Beyonce."

Bey joins an exclusive list of past recipients including Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Michael Jackson himself, who won the honor in 1988. She's up for eight other awards, too, including Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Best Choreography.

Blue Ivy's mom is also set to take the stage to perform at the 2014 MTV VMAs, which will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. This will be her fourth time performing at the event; she previously stole the show in 2006, 2009, and 2011.

The nominations for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards were announced Thursday, and Beyonce leads the way with an impressive eight nods! You can vote for her in four of the categories so be sure to do so!
