Beyoncé Calls Mother Tina 'Annoying' After She Mocks Singer's Hair Stylist

Klaudia//June 30, 2019
Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Lawson, posted a video of her combing through her superstar daughter’s long, luscious hair on Instagram.

In the video, Beyonce gets hilariously annoyed by her mom after she mock’s her daughter’s hairstylist, Neal Farinah.

“Au naturel, as Neal would say,” Tina repeats as she combs Beyonce’s straight hair, which comes all the way down to her waist.

“Mom, that’s really annoying,” Beyonce complains. “I mean, very annoying.”

“I was trimming my baby’s hair today and i am mocking Neal! Getting on her nerves! Being really annoying,” Tina captioned the short video.

Bey’s stylist later chimed in with, “WHAT WEAVE WHAT WIG. YES YES ALL NATURAL,” Neal wrote. “LET THEM KNOW. SAY WHAT BLACK GIRLS GOT HAIR.”

Jon Favreau Reveals Beyoncé Wrote New Song for The Lion King

Klaudia//June 24, 2019
With tickets now officially on sale for The Lion King here at Fandango, we spoke exclusively with director Jon Favreau, who has followed up his work helming the 2016 live-action redo of The Jungle Book with another groundbreaking effort here. He tells us how the highly anticipated new version is different while still honoring both the original movie and the iconic stage adaptation, the challenges of accomplishing such changes, and how the casting bridges the various versions and generations. And yes, he lost his mind over learning Beyoncé would be involved.

Fandango: Beyoncé is obviously a big deal for this movie.

Jon Favreau: Yes.

Fandango: I read that you wanted her involved so bad you were willing to work around her schedule. Did you have to coordinate much in that regard?

Jon Favreau: Sure, she's very busy. She's doing a lot. She was directing Homecoming, making Lemonade, her family got larger while we were working together. And between touring and albums, she really has a prolific career in many areas. She's an artist and a singer and a performer and very involved. She has a lot of things going on. But she's incredibly engaged and committed, and so what was wonderful was that when we did get together to work, she was exceptional, as you can imagine in her performance, but also really gives everything a lot of thought. She's very hard-working and puts a lot of thought into things, and would often be so extremely well-prepared that she was clearly working on a lot on this even when we weren't together.

"The Lion King" Director on Working With Beyonce

Klaudia//May 31, 2019
In December 2017, Ben Pearson drove to Playa Vista, California to visit the set of Disney’s The Lion King. Much of the set visit was spent discussing the technical aspects of how the film was coming together, but the talk with director Jon Favreau was a bit more personal. He explained why he wanted to make this movie, what speaks to him about this story, crafting the tone of the movie, how different this is from the animated version, this film’s music, and why he cast Donald Glover and Beyonce in the lead roles. Read the highlights of the interview below.

Working With Beyonce
“She’s busy,” the director laughed when asked about working with one of the world’s biggest superstars. “She has babies, she has albums, she goes on tour, her husband goes on tour. So she’s logistically trickier than some of the other cast members. Half of that role is singing, too, so that definitely made us feel that we had the right choice there. And then she had really prepared. She’s a very hard worker, it’s no surprise that she has had success in so many areas and if you look at Lemonade, you see really understands filmmaking, too, and is very curious and innovative. Once it finally became human scale and it was just us in the studio, she was great and she had even prepared a lot of the stuff ahead of time. This is a process, which is nice, because it really concentrates the time. She doesn’t have to sit in a trailer waiting for a camera to be ready. When it’s her, it’s all about her and I get to focus on her performance and getting to know her and then I get to go off and work with the camera people. So it has informed it and I try to get to know my cast members and have what ultimately ends up in the animation and visuals reflect who they are. Even if it’s not obvious on the surface, it definitely inspires me in the way I conceive it.”
