Beygood Supports COVID-19 Mobile Testing Relief

Klaudia//May 6, 2020
Beyoncé 's Beygood teams up with Ms. Tina Knowles Lawson to support COVID-19 mobile testing relief in the #IDIDMYPART campaign in Houston, Texas.

The campaign has been created to start a movement to encourage black communities to prioritize health in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Tyler Perry has accepted the challenge to do the same in Atlanta, Georgia and will challenge another celebrity to continue the movement in their city.

#IDIDMYPART mobile testing relief scheduled for Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th, in Houston, Texas.

Philanthropist, entrepreneur and fashion designer, Tina Knowles Lawson has created the initiative #IDIDMYPART to encourage residents in her beloved home city of Houston, Texas to get tested in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing that African American communities have an escalated rate of infections and fatalities, Ms. Knowles Lawson is pleading to Houston residents to know their status in an urgent appeal to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

"The virus is wreaking havoc on the Black community so we need a movement to prioritize our health," Knowles Lawson says, citing a recent report from the CDC that as of April 23, 33.7% of COVID patients were African American, even though African Americans comprise 13% of US population. And as per the CDC, as of mid-April, roughly 33% of all fatalities are African American.

Queen Bey brings her all-empowered heat in her three verses, paying homage to the song's TikTok fame ("Hips tik tok when I dance); her mother, Tina Lawson ("And my momma was a savage, think I got this… from Tina") and the Texas bombshell's hometown ("H-Town, goin' down").

"I’m literally crying," Megan Thee Stallion wrote on Instagram Wednesday. "Being from HOUSTON MF TEXAS this (expletive) means EVERYTHING to me !!!! SAVAGE REMIX FT THE QUEEN @BEYONCE OUT NOW!"

Both Beyoncé and Megan Thee Stallion are donating proceeds from the "Savage" remix to the Bread of Life, a disaster relief organization working to provide meals to Houston families amid the coronavirus pandemic.

BeyGOOD supports COVID19 Relief

Klaudia//April 23, 2020
Beyonce took to Instagram to encourage her fans to support the COVID19 Relief: "The impact of this pandemic is far reaching, and it’s going to take each and everyone of us to help make a difference. If one of the organizations we are supporting speaks to your heart, you can join us and contribute by clicking the link in my bio." Click here to donate and read more about the relief below:

Communities of color are suffering by epic proportions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many families live in underserved areas with homes that make it harder to practice social distancing. Communities that were already lacking funds for education, health and housing are now faced with alarming ifection rates and fatalities. And these communities lack access to testing and equitable healthcare.

Beyonce's BeyGOOD is supporting organizations that are on the ground 24/7, including United Memorial Center, Bread of Life, Matthew 25 and others, to address these dire needs in some of the hardest hit areas, providing basic necessities, including food, water, cleaning supplies, medicines, face masks, and personal hygiene items. Void of these basic necessities, mental burdens are also accelerated.

To address these needs, BeyGOOD teams up with Jack Dorsey's #startsmall to donate $6 million to local community-based organizations, UCLA and the National Alliance in Mental Illness (NAMI) in providing mental wellness services in Houston, New York, New Orleans and Detroit.

These are unprecedented times and it will take our collective efforts to make a difference.

Time Chooses Beyoncé as 2014 Woman of the Year

Klaudia//March 7, 2020
Time magazine has chosen 100 "Women of the Year," selecting one trailblazing woman to represent each year from 1920 to 2019. It's a distinctive way to celebrate Women's History Month, but it's also an acknowledgement that for many years, women's contributions were systematically overlooked.

For 72 years, Time's most anticipated cover was called "Man of the Year" — until 1999, when the magazine changed the title to "Person of the Year."

Still, the male trend continued, and most of the people chosen for "Person of the Year" have been, in fact, men. So, as a reparation of sorts, Time is honoring 100 women now — from suffragists to Beyoncé, and many in between.
