Mike WiLL Made It Teases New Beyonce Material

Klaudia//June 29, 2015
Is Beyonce readying another major music moment?

According to hitmaker Mike WiLL Made It, not only is the answer yes but it may be arriving sooner rather than later.

During yesterday’s one-off 106 & Park BET Awards special, the producer was quizzed about his upcoming projects and within the course of his response, he name checked Bey. Watch a video here.

Will’s catalogue of hits include Rihanna‘s ‘Pour It Up’ and Ciara‘s ‘Body Party.’

No word on what exactly it’s for. Yet, with many a source touting the existence of a joint album between Beyonce and hubby Jay Z, could they have called on the hard-hitting Mike to craft cuts for the project? Time will tell!

Beyonce To Headline The 2015 Made In America Festival

Klaudia//June 25, 2015
Beyoncé and the Weeknd will headline the lineup for Jay Z's fourth annual Budweiser Made in America festival, which will return to Philadelphia the Labor Day weekend of September 5th. Also on board to perform at the fest are J. Cole, De La Soul, Axwell & Ingrosso, Nick Jonas, Bassnectar, Big Sean, Earl Sweatshirt, Meek Mill, Banks, Vic Mensa, Santigold and more. A ticket pre-sale for the festival starts Thursday, June 25th at 10:00 am EDT at www.ticketmaster.com. The general public can purchase their tickets on Monday, June 29th at 12:00 p.m. EDT.

This is the first year that the Made in America fest doesn't have a rock act in a headlining slot. While all genres of music are represented, the 2015 lineup leans heavily on hip-hop and R&B. However, plenty of rockers will still take the stage at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, including Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, Metric, Waxahatchee and Strands of Oak.

The Made in America performance marks Beyoncé's second time headlining her husband's festival; she previously appeared at the 2013 fest. Other acts performing at the 2015 fest are A-Trak, Action Bronson, Fabolous, DJ Mustard, G-Eazy, Flatbush Zombies, Duke Dumont, Halsey and Ryan Hemsworth. Check out the Made in America site for the complete lineup.

After two years in Philadelphia, the Made in America festival went bi-coastal in 2014, adding a Los Angeles event for the same weekend as the annual Philly get-together. However, the fest failed to have a similar impact on the West Coast as it does in the East and plans for a follow-up MIA LA fest were scrapped earlier this month.

University of Waterloo takes a closer look at Beyoncé

Klaudia//June 11, 2015
Want to study Beyoncé this fall? We don’t blame you. The Department of Drama and Speech Communication at the University of Waterloo is offering a course focused entirely on the mega superstar, entitled Gender and Performance (DRAMA 282).

Perhaps it is the mutability of her voice, the impenetrability of her image, the careful choreography of her public persona and the astute manipulation of audio, visual and audio-video mediums that position Beyoncé as one of the most influential performers of the 21st century. Eponymously titled, the “Beyoncé” album is a vexing articulation of contemporary mainstream feminism that has captivated audiences worldwide.

The course will be offered in Fall 2015 to all students and has no prerequisites. Students will analyze videos from Beyoncé’s most recent album, use feminist and critical race theories to reflect on the artist’s work and create their own artistic responses.

Instructor Professor Naila Keleta-Mae says that “whether or not feminist scholars, activists or artists agree with Beyoncé’s discourse, her influence on popular culture is undeniable. I would argue that it would be negligent for those of us interested in gender studies to dismiss the album ‘Beyoncé’ or its principal artist.”

Don’t let the course name fool you; this class is all about Beyoncé. “I'm over being a pop star. I don't wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic.” - Beyoncé

Beyonce Signs With CAA's Music Department

Klaudia//June 11, 2015
Beyonce has moved her touring business from ICM Partners to CAA, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. She will remain with ICM for acting.

The superstar would be an instant signature client for any agency, and her partial departure is a blow for ICM, whose music department is one of its strengths. Her 2014 On the Run stadium tour with husband Jay Z grossed more than $100 million in ticket sales over 19 North American dates.

Beyonce initially came to ICM in 2006 from – ironically – CAA, when she followed her longtime motion picture talent agent Andrea Nelson Meigs.
