Details of Beyonce's Haiti Humanitarian Mission

Klaudia//May 20, 2015
On May 16, 2015 Valerie Amos the Emergency Relief Coordinator, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) accompanied Beyoncé on a humanitarian trip to the island of Haiti. During the trip, Beyoncé visited multiple local programs in a personal capacity to learn more about humanitarian activities.

First stop was the IDP Camp in Caradeux, one of many earthquake settlement camps still in Haiti following the destruction of the 2010 earthquake. The overall people in need of humanitarian assistance has decreased considerably and the number of people displaced in camps has dropped to about 65,000 a 96% reduction from July 2010. but with More than 65,000 Haitians still living in settlement camps, the need for assistance is dire.

Following visits to the camp, the team visited the NPH Saint Damien Hospital in Tabarre, Haiti. Funded through private contributions to NPH worldwide, St. Damien provides high quality medical treatment for disadvantaged and sick children in Haiti and has associated public health and community programs of reach over 90,000 children and adults annually.

The trip also included a tour of the IDP Relocation site in Morne Nazare and a helicopter trip over Port-au-Prince to see progress of the structural reconstruction since the devastation of the 2010 earthquake.

"Feeling Myself" Stylist Shares Secrets from the Video

Klaudia//May 20, 2015
Unless you were living under a rock yesterday, you probably already know that the new music video for Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé's collaboration "Feeling Myself" came out. And for those of you who saw it, you know it was pure visual fun—awesome colors, crazy clothing combos, and cheeseburgers galore. (A formula for success if ever there was one.)

Marie Claire caught up with the woman behind the fashion—stylist Marni Senofonte, whose worked with everyone from Kim Kardashian to Mary J. Blige—to get the insider deets on EVERYTHING that went down.

This video is serious eye candy. Everything is just so fun and powerful and colorful. What was the idea or concept for the shoot?

"The truth of the matter is, it was really last minute. And it was Beyoncé's idea to go to Coachella and to shoot at Coachella. It was so spur of the moment! But that's B, that's her. She's so spontaneous and it's just part of her craft—if she likes it or she wants it she goes for it. Honestly, there was no real 'treatment' that usually happens. The idea was, you know, 'let's go to Coachella.' It was supposed to feel the way that I hope it does—really good friends, just going and having a good time, and making fun memories. And I scrambled together in two days what we would need and we went over everything, but it was really this idea of, you know, everyone at Coachella looks like a hippie, but I was like, what if the other kind of kids to go Coachella? This is all the clothes that we were wearing. It's pretty much the urban version of Coachella."

Beyonce visits Haiti (May 16)

Klaudia//May 17, 2015
Pop queen Beyonce has paid a visit to Haiti to look at the progress made since an earthquake devastated the country five years ago.

Haiti U.N. mission spokeswoman Sophie Boutaud de la Combe said Saturday that Beyonce also was able to "meet some of the people who were affected" by the 2010 disaster in the impoverished Caribbean country.

De la Combe said the American singer, a 20-time Grammy winner, visited Haiti with Valerie Amos, the United Nations' humanitarian affairs chief and emergency relief coordinator.

Photos taken during her Haiti visit show Beyonce wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the name of her charity organization.

It wasn't immediately clear how long Beyonce's stop in Haiti was or exactly where she visited.

Official estimates say the 2010 quake that shattered Haiti's capital and surrounding areas claimed as many as 300,000 lives.

Beyonce's Hairstylist on Her Last-Minute Met Gala Change

Klaudia//May 14, 2015
'Course sometimes s--t goes down when there's a billion dollars in the elevator! When Beyonce hit the red carpet at the 2015 Met Gala hours after most of the other stars posed for the cameras, she flawlessly worked her racy Givenchy gown and her high ponytail.

But what most don't know is that the "Flawless" singer's effortless look was finalized in the elevator. No, not that elevator, but in the elevator of her apartment building on the way to the swanky event's carpet.

Beyonce's longtime hairstylist Neal Farinah (of the Neal Farinah Salon in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood on Fulton Street) was on hand for the quick fix, and exclusively told Us Weekly’s Gwen Flamberg about the last-minute switch up.

"For the Met Ball we did that high ponytail but that wasn't supposed to be the style," Farinah revealed. "We did that in the elevator as she was on the way out."

Originally Bey's long locks were entirely wrapped up in "an asian-inspired chignon," but Farinah said the Grammy winner felt the look might be too "costumey," and made a spur-of-the-moment decision.

"Then we were in the elevator on the way down, and she looks at me and says 'Neal, I want to change my hair, will you change my hair?' And I said, 'Honey, there could be cameras in the elevator,'" Farinah quipped, referencing last year's infamous "Elevatorgate" in which her sister Solange Knowles got into a physical altercation with her husband Jay Z. "She says, 'You have 5 minutes.' And I said, 'Girl, what do you want me to do with the hair?' And she wanted a high ponytail. With Beyonce, she looks at herself and she says, 'This isn't right, let's change it.'"
