Jay-Z: 'I don't compete with Beyoncé'

Klaudia//September 18, 2009
Jay-Z has said that he and his wife Beyoncé do not compete with each other in their respective music careers. The rapper told ShortList that their work is too different for competition to arise. Jay-Z said: "We're not in the same space at all. Not even a little bit. She wins that hands down. She might be the State Champion ten years in a row." Regarding a possible move into acting, he added: "I think I'd be a horrible actor. I think I'd get in the way. There's certain things that I won't do. I'm not gonna fake fight with someone. "In order to be a great actor you have to step aside to let the character come in. Until I can officially do that then I can only play myself in a movie for ten seconds. Jay-Z as himself." Jay-Z also insisted that he "can't talk" about how he proposed to Beyoncé ahead of their low-key wedding last year.

Beyonce's bonkers 37-sec flight

Klaudia//September 7, 2009
We had our suspicions that the likes of Beyonce, Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani wouldn’t be too troubled by the credit crunch. But news of their latest lavish extravagance at the F1 ROCKS concerts in Singapore really does take the biscuit. The stars will take a 37-second helicopter ride from their hotel to the concert venue about a mile away. We kid you not. Our source at the Grand Prix event said: “These stars need a stylish and speedy journey to their performances, so a helicopter journey – even one of under a minute – is the only way to go.” But our snitch insisted: “This is not a case of diva demands but necessity. “The stars will be staying in Singapore’s top hotel, which is only a short journey to where the concerts are being held – but we’re expecting hundreds of thousands of people to line the streets for the race. “It isn’t an option to have stars like Beyonce and Pharrell sitting in traffic and going nowhere and that’s what would happen if they tried to go by car because of road blocks and the crowds along the F1 circuit.” So it’s a ride over the heads of the humble punters instead. Organisers of F1 ROCKS predict performances by No Doubt, Black Eyed Peas, N.E.R.D, Beyonce and Simple Minds, combined with the Singapore Grand Prix, will make the event at the end of September – due to be screened in 188 countries – bigger than the Olympics.

Jay-Z & Beyonce’s Date Night: Pizza In Brooklyn

Klaudia//September 5, 2009
Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has kept his marriage to Beyonce Knowles private, but the star opened up – at least about date night! — in a new interview with Oprah Winfrey in the October issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. “I’m gonna get killed for this, but I’ll tell you anyway,” Jay-Z revealed. “There’s a great pizza spot we go to every Sunday. It’s our tradition. It’s a small place in Brooklyn, you can bring your own wine, and there are candles there. It’s a nice date.” Still, the star – who will drop his latest album, “The Blueprint 3,” on September 11 – said there are some things he likes to keep private. “When you’re a public person, you have to keep some things to yourself,” he said, explaining that he and Beyonce have agreed not to talk about each other in the press.

Jay Z and Beyonce's Wedding "Offended" People

Klaudia//September 3, 2009
Looks like we weren't the only ones hoping for an invite to Jay Z and Beyonce wedding last April. Apparently the couple "offended" a lot of people by keeping their ceremony so small and hush hush. Jay Z told Oprah in an interview for O magazine: "Very few people knew about it. The sad part is that we offended some. But people who love you understand because, at the end of the day, it's your day." Jay added that he and Beyonce prefer not to talk about each other in the press, explaining: "When you're a public person, you have to keep some things to yourself." After the small ceremony at Jay's penthouse apartment in New York, they had a lavish, yet small, reception attended by Beyonce's parents, Tina and Mathew Knowles, her sister Solange, Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams and their actress friend Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. There was less than 30 guests at their wedding, so it's a little hard to be offended by that. If they had a 300 person wedding and close friends didn't get an invite that would be another story.

Jay-Z's Pap Fight: What Went Down

Klaudia//September 2, 2009
During a recent vacation in Croatia, one of Jay-Z's bodyguards got into a brawl with paparazzi. Now Jay is telling "Extra" how it really went down. The rapper reveals that the whole altercation may have been blown out of proportion. "You know, it got a little out of hand... it was only one guy," Jay-Z admits. "I'm not sure the Croatian paparazzi are really skilled in the art of space versus privacy." Jay-Z is currently promoting his upcoming 9/11 benefit concert, "Answer the Call," in which Jay will take the stage and donate 100% of the proceeds to the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund. "Extra" asked if superstar wife Beyoncé would join him onstage, and he jokingly replied, "Hopefully. I don't know if I got enough money to pay her, but hopefully."

Beyonce forced out of plush suite by Ukranian politician

Klaudia//August 29, 2009
Pop beauty Beyonce was forced to give up her plush suite at a top hotel - after a local politician insisted on having it. The US singer, 27, had reserved the presidential apartment at the Donbass Palace hotel in Donetsk, Ukraine, where she is due to perform tonight. Hotel bosses apologised and persuaded the star to accept another room after presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovich demanded the best suite.

Beyoncé 'to rent $5m Singapore apartment'

Klaudia//August 28, 2009
Beyoncé will rent a $5m (£3m) luxury apartment during her trip to Singapore next month, according to reports. The singer is to visit the country in September when she headlines the F1 Rocks concert, while she and husband Jay-Z are reportedly planning to spend their free time in a rented penthouse on the marina. "Beyoncé and Jay-Z love Singapore and don't want to just stay at a hotel while they are their. Some of the apartments they've seen have been fantastic but their favourite is the one of the stunning views," a source told Contactmusic.

Charges against Beyonce's security dropped

Klaudia//August 23, 2009
Charges against the personal bodyguard of Jay-Z and Beyoncé have been dropped, TMZ reports. As previously reported, the pair were engaged in an altercation when one of their security confronted several members of the paparazzi in Croatia on Tuesday evening. Three photographers claimed that the protector threatened them and damaged their equipment after they started to take pictures of the couple. No further action will reportedly be taken. However, it is thought that the bodyguard must pay a fine.

Beyonce guard probed over paparazzi clash

Klaudia//August 21, 2009
A personal bodyguard of US R&B star Beyonce was held for questioning in Croatia after being caught on film clashing with a cameraman in the coastal resort of Dubrovnik, police said. The Croatian police action came after footage of the paparazzi battle in the narrow streets of Dubrovnik was broadcast on television. Police said they seized the passport of the bodyguard, a 31-year-old Dutch national, as a precaution before ordering him to attend a magistrates' court for a "breach of public order". The guard was reportedly detained on the luxurious 47-metre yacht on which Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z were cruising the Adriatic coast during their holiday since the start of this week. The boat was intercepted off the southern island of Korcula, said the website of the newspaper Jutarnji List. The cameraman, 57-year-old Dragan Banovic, had filed a complaint against the unnamed Dutchman, but was himself taken in for questioning over the incident, a police statement said. In the footage of the skirmish, Banovic was seen striking the guard on the back with a tripod after the bodyguard knocked down the journalist's camera and laid into him. The guard was later filmed hurling the tripod into the sea. Both were released after being quizzed before the magistrates court.

Beyonce bodyguard, Croatian cameraman clash

Klaudia//August 20, 2009
A visit by US R&B diva Beyonce to the Croatian coastal resort of Dubrovnik ended with one of her bodyguards exchanging blows with a local journalist, Croatian media reported on Wednesday. Beyonce was heading to a boat anchored in the medieval port with her rapper husband Jay-Z when the bodyguard kicked a Croatian cameraman, 57, in the back several times, the online edition of the Jutarnji List daily said. Private television station RTL showed images of the incident on Tuesday night including journalists chasing the pop star down Dubrovnik's narrow streets despite her bodyguard's protests. Before getting back on the boat, the bodyguard knocked the journalist's video camera to the ground, and then laid into the man himself, the footage showed. The cameraman then hit the bodyguard in the back with his tripod, who, visibly angry, responded by throwing it in the Adriatic sea. Police said they were investigating the incident.

Beyonce Knowles taking ballet classes

Klaudia//August 20, 2009
Pop superstar Beyonce Knowles is taking secret ballet classes to brush up on her dancing skills. The 'Crazy in Love' hitmaker has enrolled herself for ballet tutorials in New York and attends classes without an entourage. The singer used Manhattan's Ailey School to rehearse for her last tour, and she recently checked in for an open ballet class, where she pirouetted alongside bemused dance wannabes, according to America's Star magazine. "She came in like a regular student. No entourage and no attitude," said a fellow ballet enthusiast. Insiders claim that Knowles is merely trying to improve her dancing skills.

Knowles 'shuts down' in large crowds

Klaudia//August 20, 2009
Beyonce Knowles "shuts down" in large crowds. The 'Sweet Dreams' singer has revealed she is "insecure" in group situations because she didn't have a "normal social life" as a child. The 27-year-old star explained: "I didn't go to regular school. I went to private school, then I was home-schooled because I was travelling with Destiny's Child. "I didn't have a normal social life, and sometimes I think it's why I'm insecure around a large group of people. I shut down a bit. People expect me to be what they see on stage, but that's not who I am in real life." But when it comes to her personal life, Beyonce – who is married to rapper Jay-Z – has always been confident because she knew she had a "lot to offer" partners. She said: "I know some people worry people won't want to date you because you're famous, but I wasn't scared of that because I feel I have way more to offer than just being famous. "I think that once people meet me and get to know me, you forget that I'm famous."

Beyonce Talks About Her ‘Butt’

Klaudia//August 20, 2009
Beyoncé has said she works hard to keep her famous bottom in shape and said she sometimes doesn’t like her curves. The gorgeous singer explained: “I guess my butt is natural. But I go through stages like every woman. I like being curvy but sometimes I get curvy in the wrong places.” “After New Year I do stairs - they are the best thing for butt cheeks. Every January I'll start working out. I'll do that for three months and then stop again!" And B also revealed she hates being put in ‘Most Sexy’ lists. She said: “Some people think one thing is beautiful, some think another is. When people say that I am 'most beautiful' or 'most sexy', it bothers me. “I like fashion and I like to look good. I like to try at least, but everyone has their own opinion.”
