With his 70th birthday just around the corner, Andrew Lloyd Webber is letting all the memories flood back with a special retrospective release.
Barbra Streisand, Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey, Madonna, Michael Ball, Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman are just some of the big names who appear on Andrew Lloyd Webber Unmasked: The Platinum Collection, due out March 16 through UMe / Polydor.
One of the most successful theatrical-music composers of the modern era, Lloyd Webber's portfolio includes the celebrated musicals Sunset Boulevard, Cats, Aspects Of Love, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Starlight Express, The Phantom of The Opera, and Love Never Dies.
The new collection, available now to
pre-order, is curated and overseen by Lloyd Webber to feature works from early in his career through to his most recent, School of Rock, and includes newly-recorded songs from Lana Del Rey ("You Must Love Me", Evita), Nicole Scherzinger ("Memory", Cats) and Gregory Porter ("Light at the End of the Tunnel", Starlight Express).
Unmasked: The Platinum Collection will be available in 2-CD or 4-CD editions, the latter containing a 40-page book containing in-depth notes on each song and an introduction from Lloyd Webber. Scherzinger’s version of “Memory” is available now as an instant grat track.
