Beyoncé Reportedly Shoots "Brown Skin Girl" Video in London

November 3, 2019

Beyoncé is set to revisit her The Lion King: The Gift album with a music video for “Brown Skin Girl,” which is being filmed on various south London estates.

The album was released this past summer, but now the song will be treated as a single, according to the Daily Mail. Filming is taking place in both Catford and Thamesmead, along with members of the superstar’s team being seen near the HM Prison Thameside on Thursday.

The LEMONADE singer’s casting team is requesting “black and brown people of different cultures, nationalities, ethnicities, genders and ages” in London to come forward for the video.

A source also detailed to the Daily Mail Beyoncé’s wish to have the video “truly represent the essence of the song” and to have “normal people step forward and tell their stories” despite having name-dropped iconic figures like Naomi Campbell and Lupita Nyong’o in the lyrics.

Additional requests for people include different family structures, citing a request for blended, single parent, queer and adopted families. The video will also have a focus on a variety of body shapes and ages. The age range is stated to be girls as young as six months all the way to elderly women.

The video is set to be directed by Jean Nkiru, who worked on The Carters “APESH**T” video. “Brown Skin Girl” features Saint Jhn, Wizkid and Beyoncé’s own daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

Parkwood Entertainment's COO Steve Pamon's Interview for Billboard

October 18, 2019

Parkwood Entertainment president/COO Steve Pamon and his boss, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, lead Billboard’s annual list of the most influential executives and creatives in R&B and hip-hop.

Executives Of The Year
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter
Chairman/CEO, Parkwood Entertainment
Steve Pamon
President/COO, Parkwood Entertainment

"Speaking of the Queen. She just called.” The words, spoken by Parkwood Entertainment’s head of public relations, Yvette Noel-Schure, stop Steve Pamon midsentence as he sits on a chair in the company’s midtown Manhattan offices. “Does she need me?” he asks. “No, no. She’s good. She’s good,” Noel-Schure replies. Pamon, who’s wearing a white T-shirt beneath a navy blue suit offset by a red-white-and-blue stripe on the sleeves and pant legs, relaxes into the chair and resumes speaking about his boss and their company -- that would be Beyoncé, “B,” as Pamon, 49, often calls her, and Parkwood Entertainment -- and the milestones of the 12 or so preceding months that have earned them Billboard’s 2019 R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Executives of the Year honors.

Beyonce Knowles has had it all before turning 30, yet is still humbled by what she calls "the biggest opportunity of my life" -- the lead role in Clint Eastwood's remake of the film, "A Star Is Born." The singer and burgeoning actress, whose fourth solo album "4" debuted at No. 1 on pop charts after its release in June, told Reuters she felt lucky to have landed the iconic role previously played by Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. Eastwood will helm the fourth remake of the story about rising singer and actress Esther Blodgett, and Beyonce fondly remembers being a young girl and watching previous versions of the movie with her mother. "It's when I became a fan of Barbra Streisand's. And I then saw Judy Garland's version of 'A Star Is Born' and I realized every 20 to 30 years a new star is born and a new talent represents that generation and era -- so I didn't think that I would ever get the opportunity to be the star," she said. Beyonce has won 16 Grammy Awards, is married to rapper mogul Jay-Z, has topped Forbes magazine's lists of the most powerful and influential celebrities and is one of the world's top-grossing musicians. She starred in other movies with large ensemble casts, such as the widely-praised "Dreamgirls", but she said meeting Oscar winner Eastwood still made her quiver. "I met with Clint and I was so nervous and I know that it is the biggest opportunity of my life. I will work as hard as I can," she said. "Because I can't wait. And I am so happy that he trusts me and I am in good hands and I am so fortunate." The film is due to begin shooting at the end of the year and, according to showbiz website Deadline Hollywood, may also co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. But for now, Beyonce is still busy managing the singing career that she has taken over from her father and longtime manager, Matthew Knowles. Read more...
Drake and Beyonce have been added to the cast of the next Ice Age movie. The two pop stars will join Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lopez in Ice Age: Continental Drift. The quartet will star alongside regulars Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary and John Leguizamo. Character details have yet to be confirmed, but Lopez will give voice to a saber-tooth tiger.
Beyonce and Rihanna are competing to be the star of a movie remake. The pop rivals are said to be at the top of the list of potential lead actresses in a new version of Eighties hit movie The Bodyguard which starred Whitney Houston as a pop diva who falls for her protector, played by Kevin Costner. “The crucial thing about this movie is that the star has to be able to sing and act,” reveals a movie insider. “Beyonce has already established herself as an actress so she is the clear favorite for the role right now but it depends if they want to go for someone younger like Rihanna.” The Proposal star Ryan Reynolds is among those tipped to take Costner’s role.
What do Natalie Portman, Blake Lively and Beyoncé Knowles have in common with iconic Hollywood royalty like Marilyn Monroe, Vivien Leigh and Faye Dunaway? Well, they're all talented, accomplished and, of course, stunningly beautiful. With the Oscars just around the corner, the Los Angeles Times Magazine compiled a list of the 50 Most Beautiful Women in Film, celebrating how these stars "set the standard for grace, glamour and allure." The magazine admits to being "totally biased" in their selections, and it made for some surprising results. Landing in the top five are Academy Award winners Kim Basinger (#3) and Halle Berry (#5). The Times noted Basinger's sexy turn as a prostitute employed as an actress look-alike in "L.A. Confidential" as an example of her best and sexiest work, while Berry easily captured her spot thanks to her Oscar win for "Monster's Ball" and her turn as a Bond girl in "Die Another Day." While love from the Academy wasn't a requirement, many of the beauties on the list have some Oscar credentials. A 2011 Best Actress nominee for her turn in "Black Swan," Natalie Portman took the #39 slot, while "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively (the youngest woman on the list) was honored with a spot at #30 thanks to her roles in "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and the upcoming "Green Lantern." "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez follows behind Lively at #31. Jennifer Connelly landed at #9, with her Oscar win for "A Beautiful Mind" and her glamorous turn in 1996's "Mulholland Falls" as evidence of her talent. "Pirates of the Caribbean" star and fellow Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz followed her at #11. This year's Oscars co-host, Anne Hathaway, earned the #19 ranking, making the 28-year-old actress the youngest on the list in the top 20. Rounding out the top 20 is Salma Hayek, whose "Wild Wild West" was cited as her sexiest work. Angelina Jolie placed surprisingly low at #23, with classic Hollywood actress Grace Kelly placing right behind her at #24. Beyoncé made something of a surprise appearance on the list at #25, largely thanks to her work in 2006's "Dreamgirls"; the singer/actress was recently cast in Clint Eastwood's "A Star Is Born" remake. Hollywood A-listers also making the list include "Slumdog Millionaire" star Freida Pinto (#38), Julia Roberts (#40), Charlize Theron (#45), Rachel Weisz (#48) and Catherine Zeta-Jones (#50).
Clint Eastwood and Beyonce may be teaming up to make a musical version of "A Star Is Born." Warner Bros. confirms that the two are in negotiations to remake the 1937 classic. Eastwood is in talks to direct, while Beyonce, who has been attached to the project for some time, would star. Set to produce are Billy Gerber, Basil Iwanyk and Jon Peters, who made the 1976 version of the film with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Corporate spokeswoman Jessica Zacholl notes that the deals have not been finalized and negotiations are ongoing.

Beyoncé is reportedly circling the lead role in Warner Bros's remake of A Star Is Born. The studio has enlisted Will Fetters to write the script for the film, about an up-and-coming starlet who becomes romantically involved with a well-known male star, says The Hollywood Reporter. The new Star will be the fourth version of the story, the most famous of which was released in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in the lead roles. Like the Streisand offering, the new movie will take place in the record industry but reflect rolling celebrity news coverage. Previous big screen incarnations took place in Hollywood.
Cadillac Records - Music From The Motion Picture, the critically-acclaimed Music World/Columbia Records soundtrack album, has proven the year's biggest success on America's Blues Albums charts. Propelled by Beyonce's emotional rendering of "At Last," the song she performed at the 2009 Inaugural Ball for President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama's first dance as First Couple, Cadillac Records - Music From The Motion Picture has ruled the Billboard Blues Albums chart since its release on December 2, 2008, spending more than six months (27 weeks) at #1 and 37 consecutive weeks in the chart's Top 10 (or better). Created as the musical accompaniment to "Cadillac Records," the film chronicling the history of Chicago's Chess Records starring Adrien Brody and Beyonce Knowles, the film's soundtrack introduced a whole new generation of music fans to classic American blues through classic rhythm & blues covers and new soul sounds performed by Beyonce, Solange, Jeffrey Wright, Raphael Saadiq, Mos Def and others. Cadillac Records - Music From The Motion Picture is produced by multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/drummer Steve Jordan (Eric Clapton, John Mayer Trio, Bob Dylan, Keith Richards) and Executive Produced by Mathew Knowles for Music World Entertainment, Inc. Marshall Chess, the son and nephew of the original Chess Records founders, served as Executive Music Producer for the soundtrack. Cadillac Records - Music From The Motion Picture is available in both a standard and a deluxe two-disk edition.
