On Sunday, Beyonce was enjoying her first Mother’s Day as a mother. The 30-year-old, however, didn’t forget to thank her own mother for all she has done for her. The “Best Thing I Never Had” singer penned a heartfelt letter to her mom, Tina Knowles. She posted the handwritten letter on her website. “Dear Mama, “ she wrote. “Everything I am is because of you. You are the first voice that ever sang to me. At every turn you push me to be better. You teach me to be true to myself and the ones I love.” In the note, Beyonce says she appreciates her mother even more, now that she is a mom herself. “When I look into your eyes, I am so proud. Now that I’m a mother, I truly realize the sacrifices you made for us. My love for you goes beyond what I can say. Happy, Happy Mama’s Day,” she wrote, signing, “Love, Beyonce.”

Beyonce, Angelina Jolie named most powerful moms

Klaudia//May 14, 2012
Beyonce and Angelina Jolie have been named among 2012's Most Powerful Moms in a special poll. Editors at Working Mother magazine have compiled a top 10 list of females who are leading the way in their chosen careers to mark Mother's Day on Sunday, and superstar Beyonce and Hollywood beauty Jolie have both made the cut, alongside comedienne Melissa McCarthy. Bey became a first-time mom in January with the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy, while Jolie schedules her work commitments around her brood of six, and Bridesmaids star McCarthy is a mother to young daughters Vivian and Georgette. Jennifer Owens, Working Mother Media's Editorial Director, tells UsMagazine.com, "(They) are just a few of the moms making a major impact right now. All of the power women on our list have at least one child 18 or younger, and all are based in the U.S." Other noted mothers to make the list include The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins and TV host Ann Curry.

Tina Knowles: We're Excited to Celebrate Mother's Day!

Klaudia//May 14, 2012
May 13 is set to be an extra special day for the Knowles family. On January 7, Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z welcomed daughter Blue Ivy Carter--meaning Sunday will be the singer's first time celebrating Mother's Day as a mom herself. At a charity event in NYC Wednesday, Blue Ivy's grandma Tina Knowles opened up to Us Weekly about the Knowles' big weekend plans. " all going to be together," Knowles gushed to Us. "We're excited because it's Beyonce's first Mother's Day." On their agenda? "I'm hoping to cook! I want to cook," the House of Dereon designer shared. "My traditional soul food and maybe gumbo. That's my favorite dish!" Knowles also spoke about her daughter's breathtaking Met Gala appearance Monday night. "She looked amazing," Knowles told Us about the Grammy Winner's lacy, Givenchy Haute Couture gown. "I think she looked absolutely amazing."

Beyoncé wearing a necklace in tribute to Blue Ivy

Klaudia//May 3, 2012
She's waxed lyrical about the joys of motherhood, proving she's not too shy to wear her love of her daughter on her sleeve. But it appears that Beyoncé has found another way to express her devotion to her new baby- in jewelry form. The 30-year-old posted a picture of herself on Tumblr wearing a silver necklace spelling Blue. Showing only her neck and part of her chest, the photo obscured Beyoncé's face, but gave away her curly honey-blonde hair, and showed her wearing a smart jacket with a silver and white top underneath. The star wore several other simple necklaces, but the Blue piece took centre spot. Beyonce also posted another photo of her with a different necklace.

Beyonce set to win writing award

Klaudia//May 3, 2012
Beyonce Knowles can add yet another title to her already dazzling resume - award-winning journalist. The mogul mama, recently named People magazine's Most Beautiful woman of 2012, is set to win a writing award from the New York Association of Black Journalists on May 15. The sexy songstress will be singled out for her July 2011 Essence magazine cover story "Eat, Play, Love," which chronicled her nine-month hiatus from the biz in 2010. She wrote about "savoring" the "tiny moments," traveling with hubby Jay-Z, discovering her love of artichokes, jumping from yachts and going undercover as a Harajuku girl in Tokyo nightclubs. "I'm grateful for the time I gave myself to breathe," she wrote, crediting the personal retreat with a "creative reawakening." The Grammy winner, who gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January, doesn't mention the miscarriage Jay-Z revealed in a recent song. "She's a real writer. We had to edit her, but everyone gets edited except Toni Morrison," Essence entertainment director Cori Murray told The News.

Mollie King: "I'd Love To Have Curves Like Beyonce"

Klaudia//May 3, 2012
The Saturdays star Mollie King has confessed that she would "love" to have the same curves as Beyonce. The 'Notorious' singer opened up on her feelings on her own body in an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine and revealed there are things she would like to change. "I look in the mirror and see things I need to work on. I'd love to have curves like Beyonce and a nice booty," she admitted. "I don't have any major hang-ups and it's not like I go to bed crying about it, but there are things I would change."

Michelle Obama's daughters love Beyonce

Klaudia//May 2, 2012
The First Lady reenacted a typical exchange with her daughters, who apparently are unimpressed with living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. “It’s like, ‘Well, don’t you think it’d be interesting for your friends to be here?’ ‘I don’t care,’” she jokes. “I thought I would have kids over every weekend,” Obama admits. “So it’s surprising.” But while Sasha and Malia might be less than wide-eyed about living in a national landmark, Obama says they still view herself and President Barack Obama as role models. “I think in the end our kids look up to us, first and foremost, whether they admit it or not,” she tells PEOPLE. “We are our kids’ first and best role models … Everyone else is just a symbol of something. You don’t really get to know them well enough to idolize them or to have them impact your lives unless you’ve had a unique experience.” As far as celebrity icons, Obama says her daughters share her own admiration for Beyoncé. “My girls love Beyoncé. They’ve met her, but they don’t know her,” the First Lady says. “They think she’s cool, they love dancing. She seems like a good mom. They’re rooting for her, but they know me. So I think for them, that’s why I’ve got to have my stuff together.”

Santigold Celebrates New Album With Jay-Z and Beyoncé

Klaudia//May 1, 2012
On the eve of the release of her second album Master of My Make-Believe (out today, May 1), Santigold performed a show at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom that could only be described as flawless, according to Hive photographer Rebecca Smeyne. In front of a crowd that included Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Santi’s visuals came across like a mashup of Of Montreal and Jannelle Monae. Her costumes were weird but chic, the stage design was trippy but not over the top. All in all, her show was equal parts indie rock, soul and outsider pop. Like Jay-Z, Santigold performs with cool grace, charming the audience with weighted steps and shoulder shrugs, letting her mesmerizing backup dancers handle most of the heavy legwork. Before performing “Shove It,” which Jay-Z appropriated for his single “Brooklyn Go Hard” in 2008, Santi nodded “What up, Jay!” at the balcony. With four long years between her breakthrough debut album and today, there’s really no better way to bring things full circle than that.

Beyoncé Blue Nail Polishes

Klaudia//May 1, 2012
Beyoncé has tried an array of blue nail polishes lately—from robin’s egg to sapphire—which is why we caught up with her manicurist Lisa Logan to get the details on Bey’s favorite hue. “Blue is a great color, and it looks amazing on Beyoncé,” she told InStyle.com exclusively. “We always have a variety to choose from.” So, are her azure lacquers a tribute to her new daughter, Blue Ivy? “That’s up to anyone to decide!” Logan said playfully. “It is a pretty color, though, and Beyoncé wears it well.” Check out four lacquers worn by the star, and find out why her manicurist picked each shade.

Nails Inc. in Baker Street
For her first public appearance as a new mommy, Knowles lacquered up in a true cobalt by Nails Inc. "You can identify this color right away because it's such a bold shade," Logan said. Find it for $19.50 at sephora.com.

Ginger + Liz in Ivy League
"For the People spread, we used Ginger + Liz's polish in Ivy League," said Logan. "You can't tell because the picture isn't close enough, but we added a clear Minx decal that says "Ivy" on it." Get the same hue for $12 at gingerandliz.com.

Nails Inc. in Connaught
Amp up your opaque blue polish with an extra coat of glitter. "We've also used a few of the Nails Inc. 3D Glitter Polishes," Logan said. Shop them for $9.50 each at sephora.com.

L'Oreal Color Riche Nail Polish in Now You Sea Me
A bright teal is a playful alternative to a punchy cobalt. "Beyonce has also worn L'Oreal's Nail Polish in Now You Sea Me," said Logan. The shade is available for $6 at lorealparisusa.com.

Diplo: Beyonce track started off as 'joke song'

Klaudia//May 1, 2012
Producer and DJ Diplo says a sample he came up with that Beyonce later used started off as a bit of fun. "I still think a lot of people don't even realise where that song came from," Diplo told Newsbeat. Beyonce's single, Run the World (Girls), contains parts of Pon De Floor, a track Diplo produced with his group Major Lazer. He added: "That song never really had a push. It was a song we did, kind of like a funny kind of a joke song." The 37-year-old American has produced tracks for Usher, Azealia Banks and Marina & the Diamonds. He recalls working with Beyonce as a surreal experience: "We had to finish up a few records we were working with her on," said Diplo. He also worked on Beyonce's latest single, End of Time. "That was super weird man. Like I remember we were in the studio working with her and I still couldn't believe it."
