Inside Beyonce & Jay-Z's 2018 Oscars Afterparty

March 5, 2018

Attending the Oscars may haven been the opportunity of a lifetime, but there was an even cooler and more exclusive event happening after the awards show — Beyoncé and Jay-Z threw an afterparty at the Chateau Marmont in L.A.

The party was to celebrate singer Mary J. Blige, who was nominated for two Academy Awards — as Best Supporting Actress in Mudbound, as well as for her song from the movie, “Mighty River.” (She’s the first person ever to earn an Oscar nomination for both an acting performance and an original song in the same film.)

The event was held in the underground garage of the hotel on Sunset Boulevard and an insider tells Us Weekly that security was already tight hours before the soiree kicked off on Sunday, March 4.

“The underground garage of the Chateau Marmont has been transformed into a very classy, old-school Hollywood glamor lounge,” the insider says. “There was a huge crystal chandelier hanging from the center of the garage. Black carpet has been laid down with white booths set against the wall to give guests plenty of room to dance. There was also a classic two-door coupe sports car in the center of the room.”

The insider tells Us that guests at the party, which started at about 11:30 p.m., entered and exited the celebration via a walkway that has been shielded with blackout curtains.

“They already blocked off the driveway,” a second source told Us before the event. “A lot of hotel guests are mad.”

The music power couple hosted 150 guests at the bash and the invite said, “No sitting, you have to be up and dancing.”

Hip-hop supercouple Jay Z and Beyonce boosted Barack Obama's re-election campaign by generating $4 million (£2.5 million) at a New York City fundraiser for the U.S. President on Tuesday (18Sep12).

One hundred Vip guests paid $40,000 (£25,000) each to attend the exclusive event, held at the rapper's 40/40 Club in Manhattan.

Beyonce, in a red cocktail dress, took to the stage to introduce the President, who wants four more years in the White House.

She told guests, "I can't tell you how proud we are to host tonight's event with President Obama. We believe in his vision."

Obama joked to the audience that his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, were "mad at me because they aren't here", before telling his hosts, "To Jay and B, thank you so much for your friendship. Beyonce could not be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent."

He then pointed out the similarities he shares with Jay Z, quipping, "We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's Ok."

Obama will face Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the upcoming November (12) elections.

Kanye Storms the Stage and Interrupts Taylor Swift (2009)
Toffler: “There’s no way any of us could have predicted that — we didn’t orchestrate it. He came with a bottle of alcohol, so he was in a festive mood to begin with. But we all were in shock in the truck when he walked up on stage and took the mic from Taylor. I remember turning to one of the producers and going, ‘Do we not have security?’ we don’t put those big bulky guys on camera in front of the talent. Maybe this guy thought Kanye belonged on the stage.
I said to our line producer, ‘You need to go talk to Kanye and probably have him exit the building, and I will go deal with Taylor.’ And she was about to perform right after that break! She was a champ. I would be lying if I said she and her mom weren’t crying when I saw them, but she pulled it together. This was one of the most absurd VMA moments for me, having to talk to her and her mom, and they’re crying and upset, and this was her first time on the VMAs, and she had been used to working on country shows with polite artists. This was a little bit more chaotic than she was used to. And then I walked back behind the stage to find Beyoncé crying about the incident. Ultimately I talked to her and her dad and then went back to Taylor after her performance, and an hour later Beyoncé brought Taylor back out so she could have her moment.

Beyoncé’s Pregnant Pause (2011)
“I remember Beyoncé showed up to rehearsal, and she was wearing really loose clothing. We like to know the wardrobe choices that our artists are making — we’ve learned the hard way sometimes. I remember asking her manager about it, and she said, ‘Don’t worry, she’ll show you the day of.’
She said to our director that she didn’t want to have a cutaway. She said, ‘Take a close-up of me at the end of the song. No audience applauding shot—I want you tight on me.’ That is what we knew. And then on the red carpet, she had kind of indicated what was going on. It wasn’t until an hour before the show that we figured it out, and the rest of the world figured it out. Most of the artists didn’t know, and we got that great of Kanye after the reveal with Jay.”
"Is this what happens at the U.N. every Friday night?" Anderson Cooper jokingly asked the crowd seated in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations on Friday (August 10). "Because, I've gotta tell you ... I wanna be here every Friday night if this goes on."

The news anchor was referring to members of the organization and their invited guests who were gathered for a special event leading up to World Humanitarian Day, quickly approaching on Saturday. Cooper, himself a humanitarian in many respects, was on hand to host a series of interviews with local and international humanitarians that would eventually lead into a performance from Beyoncé.

The 30-year-old star had appeared at the United Nations earlier in the day, where she rehearsed her performance of "I Was Here" and met with members of the United Nations. Now, at 8 p.m. ET on Friday night, Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson made his way to the stage welcoming everyone to the General Assembly Hall and giving an early introduction of Beyoncé.

"Tonight brings more than her stunning talents; she brings inspiration to help another person, to help another human being," he told the crowd, going on to describe "I Was Here" as a "profound and moving song." When he slipped on the title for a second, calling the song "I Was There," it became evident that there were some Bey stans in the audience. They quickly corrected him and joined him in laughing it off, while he added, "in fact 'here' and 'there' is the same thing — that's solidarity."

Jay-Z and Beyoncé are all about baby Blue Ivy Carter these days, but that doesn't mean hip-hop's royal couple doesn't still spend the occasional night on the town! On Monday, Hov and Bey hit up the MoĂ«t Rosé Lounge in New York City to celebrate Nas' new album Life Is Good. Beyoncé, 30, sipped on MoĂ«t, and danced "by herself" in the corner! Her hubby Jay-Z, 42, took a shot of tequila with his foe-turned-friend Nas. These two used to have a major feud, but from the looks of things last night, it's all water under the bridge. Also in attendance at Monday night's fête? Busta Rhymes, Jermaine Dupri, Eric Benet, Tyson Beckford and Adrienne Bailon.

Nicholas Kirkwood‘s shoes have appeared on the feet of some of the hottest names in entertainment, but he still got a little starstruck when he saw that Beyoncé wore his glitter satin sandals ($1,265 at mytheresa.com) to a dinner hosted by Michelle Obama. “I think Beyoncé looked great!” the designer told us at the opening of his Manhattan store. “How could you not be excited to see Beyoncé in your shoes?” While Beyoncé is a pro at walking in high heels, Kirkwood knows that every woman has their own heel height preference. “Heels can be quite wibbly wobbly,” he said. “Some of my clients can literally wear them all day. Some girls are so used to wearing heels it’s almost more painful to wear flats.”
Beyonce was seen out with Jay-Z at Rita Ora's show in New York last night (12th April). The 'Crazy In Love' singer was enjoying an evening with her husband and left baby Blue Ivy at home as she attended the show at the Skylight studios and headed to the after party at the Cartier Juste un Clou. The star kept her attire casual with a simple cream baggy fitting jumper and bright red lipstick. You can view pictures of Beyonce at the after party in New York below.

Beyoncé out in New York City on March 19, with her mom, committee member Miss Tina Knowles, and her mother-in-law Ms. Gloria Carter to attend an intimate cocktail party with First Lady Michelle Obama. The reception is a fundraiser for President Obama’s re-election campaign. Last year Beyoncé worked closely with the First Lady on Lets Move to fight childhood obesity.
A-list stars including the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Bill Cosby, Kevin Costner, and David Bowie will be among those in the pews at Whitney Houston’s funeral at Newark, New Jersey’s New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, and RadarOnline.com will live stream the service beginning at noon EST. "It’s going to be a ceremony that reflects her life," New Hope church Pastor Joe A. Carter told the New Jersey Star-Ledger. "A celebration of Whitney’s life, with the participation of many people who are very important in Whitney’s life." Scheduled speakers for Saturday’s memorial include Houston’s The Bodyguard co-star Kevin Costner, who personally chose her for the role; her cousin, Dionne Warwick; acclaimed director Tyler Perry; and her ace producer Clive Davis. In addition, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and R. Kelly are slated to sing at the service, following which, Houston will be buried at Fair View Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey, which is where her father is also laid to rest. Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, as well as their 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, will attend the service; afterwards, Brown will head off to headline a concert with New Edition in Connecticut that very same day. The area around the church will be cordoned off several blocks to the public, according to the paper. Grammy Award-winning gospel singer and Houston family friend Marvin Winans, who presided over Houston’s 1992 wedding to Brown, will deliver the eulogy for the hit-maker, who died Saturday at the Beverly Hills Hilton at 48.
This manicure is dedicated to...Blue Ivy! Donning a bright blue dress for her first public appearance since she gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy a month ago may have been overkill, so instead, new mom Beyonce Knowles rocked a bright cobalt nail polish on her fingers in honor of her and Jay-Z's first-born daughter. In NYC Monday, the 30-year-old new mom sported Nails Inc. in Baker Street (out in March at Sephora) with her red-hot Alice by Temperley form-fitting dress at her hubby's Carnegie Hall concert after party at his newly reopened 40/40 Club. "Check out Beyonce's blue nails called Baker Street by Nails Inc. I love this color!" Lisa Logan, Beyonce's manicurist, tweeted on Tuesday afternoon. Since the hue isn't out yet you can try copying Bey's mani with L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Polish in "Jet Set to Paris." ($5.99, lorealparis.com) The azure lacquer wasn't the only way the songstress was feeling blue -- she also donned a giant, sapphire sparkler on her pointer finger. It was a late night for Beyonce and her man, both of which stayed out until 4:30 a.m. "They were sitting on the top tier of same seating the entire night, just laughing, eating food -- the chef at the club is Jay-Z's personal chef as well and he sent out salads to them at 2:30 a.m.," a source tells Us Weekly. "Beyonce did have a martini at another point in the night, but she barely sipped it." "Towards the end of the night she was sitting with two of her friends and took out her phone," the source adds. "She was showing them pictures -- she was gushing and smiling and her friends were doing the same. She was very happy to be there, she had a lot of security."
Beyonce Knowles picked a very special occasion for her first post-baby outing. Four weeks after giving birth, the 16-time Grammy winner supported her husband Jay-Z at his Carnegie Hall concert in Manhattan, which benefited The United Way of New York City and his Shawn Carter Foundation. The new mom showed off her svelte body in a body-hugging Alice by Temperley dress with Ofira & Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, an Alexander McQueen clutch, and Christian Louboutin platform heels. Post-show, A-list guests hit up Jay-Z's 40/40 club for the official after-party. Knowles was clearly enjoying her night off, arriving half an hour after her hip-hop husband, 42, walked the red carpet. "She made a much bigger effort to say hello to nearly everyone, making rounds around the whole club before joining Jay-Z and guests in the VIP room," an onlooker tells Us. Neither Knowles nor Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter) spoke to reporters. Knowles opted not to imbibe at the after-party, instead sucking on lemon wedges throughout most of the evening. Other attendees included Brooklyn Decker, Melanie Fiona and Angie Martinez.

Less than two weeks after delivering baby Blue Ivy, Beyoncé is trading diaper duty for the red carpet. Queen B will make her first post-baby appearance at the grand reopening of hubby Jay-Zs 40/40 Club Wednesday night, a source close to the crooning couple told the Daily News. All eyes will be on the shapely singer's motherly silhouette as stars including Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Victor Cruz, Swizz Beatz and New York Knick Baron Davis offer their congratulations. The Manhattan clubs new $10 million renovation includes four gargantuan, state-of-the-art 165-inch video screens and golden bats lining the walls of banquettes. "I wanted to retain the feel of a clubhouse, a relaxed place to interact with friends," Jay-Z told The News. Hova's new hideaway is open to the public, but VIPs can pay for $1,000 memberships with preferred access to private rooms.
