#BringBackOurGirls

Klaudia//May 9, 2014
On the night of April 14, 2014, 276 teenage girls were abducted from their boarding school in Borno, Nigeria by a terrorist group. Varying reports have stated that some girls have since escaped, but to date, approximately 230 girls are still missing.

Protesters across Nigeria have been rallying to draw attention to the plight of the girls, and encourage local and international military action. Initially, the Nigerian army released a statement claiming to have rescued the girls, but has since retracted that claim. The Nigerian president has called for international support to rescue the abducted girls.

In light of the recent events, CHIME FOR CHANGE strategic partner Catapult is raising money to distribute to organizations working in Nigeria to support girls’ education.

You can help the cause by donating $10 now by texting BRINGBACK to 50555 or you can donate online to #ChimeIn and help bring back our girls. For more information, visit ChimeForChange.org

Beyonce scores her milestone 20th Dance Club Songs No. 1, as "Partition" pounces 2-1. Adding to the superstar diva shoutouts, Beyonce passes Janet Jackson, who's notched 19 No. 1s. Next up: Mariah Carey, with 17; her latest, "You're Mine (Eternal)" vacates the top spot (1-7) after crowning the chart last week.

Beyonce Donates Shoes for Goop Closet Sale

Klaudia//May 1, 2014
Last year, we did a big story on closet organization, and in the process, sold a handful of pieces on behalf of three charities. It was such a success that we decided to do it again, and enlisted some friends-of-goop who have particularly outstanding personal style to help—this year, 100 percent of the profits benefit DonorsChoose, a charity where public school teachers can directly ask for help fulfilling specific classroom needs. Beyoncé gave us a pair of heels from her latest tour:

"Excited to donate these custom-made Ankle Boots by Stuart Weitzman to benefit Goop’s charity closet sale. 100% of the profits go to Donors Choose."

Beyonce Sends Condolences to Chelsea James' Family

Klaudia//April 26, 2014
Beyonce sent her condolences to the family of Chelsea James, who recently lost her battle with cancer.

Beyonce and Chelsea first met in 2009 when the singer pulled her on stage and serenaded her with Halo, changing lyrics to: "Chelsea I can see your halo, I pray you won’t fade away".

Last year the two reunited backstage at the singer's Sydney show in November, where she dedicated her song Survivor to the youngster.

"I was so excited to meet Beyoncé again," Chelsea told News Corp at the time.

"Last time Beyoncé sang to me on stage. This time ... I actually got to meet her backstage and talk to her and laugh with her, which was so cool. I'll never forget this."

Knowles had written a message to Chelsea describing her as a "beautiful angel".

"You have no idea how happy you made me seeing you. I will see you the next time I'm in Australia," she wrote.

The Mrs. Carter Show Grosses $41.1M in Europe

Klaudia//April 26, 2014
Beyoncé heads up Billboard’s weekly slate of top-grossing tours with sales reported from the final leg of her Mrs. Carter Show world tour that wrapped at the end of March. The pop diva was on the road for the bulk of 2013, performing in 23 countries on four continents through the end of the year. The final 2014 leg of the tour kicked off in Scotland on Feb. 20, marking her third jaunt through Europe since last year’s mid-April launch. This last string of shows began in the U.K., but dates followed in Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Spain before wrapping in Portugal on March 27. Multiple performances at arenas in London and Dublin were reported during a previous week, so after adding revenue from those markets to the $24.1 million included in this tally, her final European leg grossed more than $41.1 million from 25 sold out shows. The Mrs. Carter Show ended its yearlong run with overall revenue totaling $212 million from more than 1.8 million sold tickets at 126 concerts.

Beyonce covers Time's '100 Most Influential People' issue

Klaudia//April 24, 2014

The cover of Time‘s annual “100 Most Influential People” issue has been revealed — and its star is none other than Beyoncé.

As the cover star, Beyoncé gets to sit with the “Titans” section of the list alongside Pharrell Williams, Hillary Clinton and Jeff Bezos.

As is tradition, each Most Influential pick is accompanied by a short explanation written by a famous admirer. In this case, Lean In creator Sheryl Sandberg weighs in on what makes Bey worthy of number one:

Beyoncé doesn’t just sit at the table. She builds a better one. Today she sits at the head of the boardroom table at Parkwood Entertainment.

In December, she took the world by surprise when she released a new album, complete with videos, and announced it on Facebook and Instagram. Beyoncé shattered music-industry rules — and sales records.

One song includes words by novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: “We say to girls, ‘You can have ambition, but not too much.’ ” Beyoncé has insisted that girls “run the world” and declared, “I’m not bossy, I’m the boss.” She raises her voice both on- and offstage to urge women to be independent and lead.

Beyonce Chooses 'Pretty Hurts' As Next Single

Klaudia//April 23, 2014
After causing controversy with the sex-soaked “Partition,” Beyonce’s ready to play it safe again with what looks set to be the next official single from her self-titled album, “Pretty Hurts.”

Although nothing has been officially confirmed just yet, the music video has just been sent out to MTV alongside new singles from Alicia Keys and Nizo & Vinz, making it the likely next single from Beyoncé.

The song was written and produced by Sia and Ammo, who shopped it around to other pop artists before it landed in Mrs. Carter’s lap. Sia offered it directly to Katy Perry first, but Perry forgot to check her e-mail and missed it, before Rihanna’s team later got their hands on it but failed to pay the fee to secure the track after sitting on it for 8 months.

Boots Teams Up With Beyonce Again For 'Dreams'

Klaudia//April 22, 2014
Boots, aka Jordy Asher, the mystery man behind a large majority of the production of Beyonce's self-titled album, has been casually releasing solo tracks from his upcoming mixtape, "WinterSpringSummerFall," over the past few months. Today, Boots dropped the album's final track, "Dreams," which sees him reconnecting with Bey for a song that is nothing short of magical.

If the smooth lovin' of this reunion weren't enough to steal your heart, then the fact that all profits from this song will benefit Day One, a New York City-based nonprofit dedicated to the prevention of teen dating violence surely will.

"The idea behind the mixtape was to release things in a different way than everybody else does," Boots said. "When Beyonce and I did the song together we started talking about, 'Well, what could we do with this?' Obviously we wanted to put it on the mixtape, but we decided there was an opportunity here that we didn’t want to miss. I already get messages from people all the time saying, 'I’ll buy your album! I don’t even care!' even though it’s going to be free. Two things that are very important to me are education and women’s rights, and the moment my friend sent to me it made the most sense and was the most important thing to me that I had come across. If people knew ... if there was more public knowledge about the organizations like Day One and the places that people could go, it would stop those situations from occurring, or reoccurring."

Beyonce & Jay Z planning joint summer stadium tour?

Klaudia//April 17, 2014
Beyonce and Jay Z surprised festival-goers at Coachella last weekend with a few unannounced appearances. But music’s most famous couple have a bigger trick up their sleeves: a summer stadium run.

The married superstars will launch their first joint tour in June, a source close to the production told The Times.

Page Six first broke news of a trek that is slated to hit 20 cities in the U.S., including a possible Fourth of July appearance in New York City.

Expected to be named, aptly, the Mr. and Mrs. Carter Tour, according to our source, the U.S. leg will launch June 13 in Atlanta and wrap Aug. 6 in San Francisco.

The tour is expected to have a stop at the Rose Bowl, tentatively set for Aug. 3 date. That show would be just days before Eminem and Rihanna’s highly anticipated Monster Tour sets up a two-night stand in Pasadena.

The two then plan on taking the show to Europe, with multiple shows scheduled in Paris this September, a source said.

Despite a number of joint hits documenting their love over the past dozen or so years -- “Crazy In Love,” “'03 Bonnie & Clyde,” and “Drunk In Love,” to name the biggest -- and countless performances together, the pair have yet to embark on a joint tour.

Beyoncé, Jennifer Garner Unite for 'Ban Bossy' Campaign

Klaudia//March 10, 2014

Pushy, stubborn, bossy.

"Being labeled something matters," says Jennifer Garner in a new campaign – Ban Bossy – that's encouraging girls to be leaders.

The Girl Scouts of the USA and LeanIn.org have teamed up in partnership with Lifetime television to create a PSA featuring Beyoncé, Jane Lynch, Condoleezza Rice, Diane von Furstenberg, Garner and others that points out that girls are discouraged from taking leadership roles because of labeling and name-calling.

"Girls are less interested in leadership than boys," Beyoncé says, and that's because they worry about being called "bossy" while little boys who step up are called "leaders."

"I think the word 'bossy' is just a squasher," Glee star Lynch says. The campaign seeks to empower girls by encouraging everyone to sign a pledge to ban the five-letter word at banbossy.com.

Beyonce takes philanthropic initiative #BeyGOOD global

Klaudia//March 6, 2014
That there is a world filled with less fortunate people living outside her proverbial palace walls is not lost on Beyoncé. While she and rap mogul hubby Jay Z give their daughter, Blue Ivy, gifts whose cost could feed a small country, she understands the importance of giving back.

The pop star has set up a philanthropic initiative, #BeyGOOD, to help the homeless, sick children and the unemployed. While she's on her Mrs. Carter world tour, she will stop at six cities — Dublin; Cologne, Germany; Amsterdam; Antwerp, Belgium; Barcelona and Lisbon — where #BeyGOOD teams up with local charities. She hopes her celebrity will help raise funds for the charities, as well as awareness by her fans.

Last month, #BeyGOOD teamed up with the U.K.'s Prince's Trust for 12 concert dates, which included stops in Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and London.

For her March dates, fans who go to at least one of these six concerts will find donation tables for each charity in the main lobbies of the venues. Concert ticketholders who make a donation will not only get a #BeyGOOD sticker, but a chance to get a seat upgrade to the BeyHive or BeyStage.
