Kelly Gets Beyonce & Michelle To Say 'You've Changed'

Klaudia//May 28, 2013
When Kelly Rowland premiered her newest song "You've Changed," she wanted fans know that things are different. And mainly, it's the fact that she's not performing under Destiny's Child anymore; it's Kelly... featuring Beyoncé and Michelle Williams.

It's all part of a comeback that's launching her into a judges' seat on the "X Factor," on a tour with The-Dream and readying her upcoming Talk a Good Game album. The song, which debuted Monday on Blis FM, puts Rowland on top with sisters Michelle and Bey at her side.

"Ladies, y'all wanna do it again?" she asks, as the three spiral their voices in an intricate harmony. A bouncy hip-hop beat comes in and the trio takes turns swapping verses, singing about a love that they're finally letting go — with a pile of clichés. "I can say I'm done in a million ways, but let's not beat around the bush, let's cut to the chase. If love was a game, you just lost," they belt out.

"You've Changed" will get an official release June 4, and Talk a Good Game, with production by The-Dream and cameos from Pharrell and Wiz Khalifa, drops June 18.

Beyoncé Reveals Her Greatest Accomplishment

The star, 31, is the voice of Queen Tara in the 3-D computer-animated family film Epic, in theaters May 24.

Q: When you were voicing your character, did you still go to the studio glamorously dressed? —Joyce O., Buffalo

A: Absolutely! I had to become Queen Tara, and she’s glamorous and strong. I’ve always wanted to play a queen. And she’s more than that; she’s fierce and powerful.

Q: If you had to describe yourself in four words, what would they be? —Anne E., Pawtucket, R.I.

A: Let’s see … loyal, ambitious, adventurous, and loving.

Q: Did becoming a mother make you closer to your mom? —Monica B., Lawrence, Kan.

A: We’ve always been close, but now I really appreciate everything she’s taught me, and I pass her life lessons along to my daughter . She’s a great mother and grandmother.

Q: Which artist would you like to perform a duet with? —Kathy W., Seaford, N.Y.

A: I was blessed to have recorded with Justin Timberlake recently and, years ago, with the late Luther Vandross. I would love to work with Adele and Bruno Mars.

Q: What’s your favorite food on tour? —Tim R., Aledo, Tex.

A: Since I dance onstage for two hours every day, sometimes I can have my favorite—pizza!

Online Extra: What’s her greatest accomplishment?

“My greatest accomplishment is giving birth to my beautiful daughter,” she says.

"Rise Up" Snippet

Klaudia//May 13, 2013

Song review from Popcart.co.uk:

At the end of the film, ‘Rise Up’ the track which Beyoncé has recorded for the soundtrack begins – thankfully, there’s no waiting around for it to appear unlike was the case with ‘Oz The Great And Powerful‘. Anyway, ‘Rise Up’ is a mid-tempo, acoustic track that is led with the guitar during the verses. There are other elements deployed during the chorus but these were difficult to trace over the hustle of the cinema screen reawakening.

Lyrically, the track matches the overarching themes of the movie with references to being brave and strong despite adversity. Beyoncé‘s delivery is mostly soft and restrained and builds to a crescendo with the final line “we will rise” before the track fades out with around thirty seconds of acoustic guitar led instrumental. It feels grand and ambitious, there is that familiar, timeless quality that accompanies songs that are the themes to blockbusting films. The track was co-written by Beyoncé and the beyond incredible Sia. It is glorious and unmistakably Sia in terms of structure and the overarching sound, whilst Beyonce’s vocal performance owns and dominates the song entirely – it is powerful, emotive and offers encouragement.

Beyoncé Creates Original Song "Rise Up" for Epic

Klaudia//May 7, 2013
Beyoncé, one of the most widely recognized and highly respected women in pop culture, has created an original song, "RISE UP" for the upcoming Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios motion picture, EPIC, for which she also voices one of the lead characters. The song, performed by Beyoncé, is written by Beyoncé and Sia and produced by Hit-Boy and Chase N. Cashe. The track will be released by Columbia Records.

EPIC is a 3D CG adventure comedy that reveals a fantastical world unlike any other. From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle between the forces of good, who keep the natural world alive, and the forces of evil, who wish to destroy it. When a teenage girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she teams up with an elite band of warriors and a crew of comical, larger-than-life figures, to save their world...and ours.

Beyoncé voices the leader of this magical world -- Queen Tara. Beautiful, agile and strong, Tara isn't just the Leafmen's Queen; she's the life force of the forest, which she presides over with respect, compassion and humor.

Other members of voice cast are Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried, Christophe Waltz, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis and rock legend Steven Tyler.

EPIC charges into theaters nationwide on May 24, 2013 and internationally beginning May 16, 2013.

"Fire" May Not Make The-Dream's Album

Klaudia//April 26, 2013
“I paid a certain amount of dues to get where I am, and I never ask someone to do something that I feel like I don’t deserve,” says The-Dream about the guest features on his forthcoming fifth album, “IV Play.” The Grammy Award winning singer/song writer isn’t bashful about his accomplishments, but you also won’t catch him banking on his past hits to carry his name.

Instead, The-Dream is set on creating new sounds to further engrave his place in R&B. Scheduled for release on May. 28, “IV Play” boasts features from Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, Gary Clark Jr. and more. And, the crooner is sticking to his guns. Other singers might have caught the EDM bug, but Terius Nash isn’t a trend-humper. He creates them.

"We finally got that Hov verse on there. That shit is crazy," The-Dream tells VIBE about his Jay-Z collaboration, “High Art.” "I also got Gary Clark Jr. on "Too Early In The Morning.” That record is going to destroy something."

His upcoming release has the big name collabos, but The-Dream’s signature baby-making ballads and heartbreak tunes are sprinkled in the mix as well. If all goes to plan, Beyonce will also be making a show-stopping appearance on a track, titled “Fire.”

"You might not hear on the album because there’s a sample issue we're having. We'll be praying about that," The-Dream tells VIBE. "We could switch it up but it's almost like this particular sample made the record. So, if it's not right then we don't do it. I do don't songs 'just because.’

UPDATE: The-Dream tweeted the following: "Beyonce is confirmed! We On!"

Beyoncé Discusses New H&M Campaign

Klaudia//April 19, 2013
Today marks the start of Beyoncé's sold-out Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, but it's not the only thing the superstar launches this season. She's also got a huge campaign for H&M, shot in the Bahamas and featuring her new song, "Standing on the Sun," available on hm.com this May. One special piece Beyoncé models in the ads? A tie-dye bikini that's part of the H&M for Water collection, which donates 25% of sales to the international charity WaterAid.

Despite her busy (and oh-so-fabulous) life, Beyoncé told ELLE.com about her newest campaign. There are also two exclusive behind-the-scenes images from the fashion shoot, where legendary photographers Inez & Vinoodh and filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund collaborated with the pop star.

ELLE: Tell us about your experience shooting the campaign for H&M.
Beyoncé: I loved shooting the campaign in the Bahamas. We shot on a beach outside of Nassau and the weather was perfect. The shoot was filled with vibrant colors and was inspired by the glamour of the late '70s.

ELLE: How was it to work with the director Jonas Åkerlund?
Beyoncé: It was incredible to work with Jonas again. We had a great time shooting the TV commercial for the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, so I was looking forward to working with him again. He has such a great imagination and I love seeing his visions come to life.

ELLE: Where does your own fierce and fabulous style come from?
Beyoncé: Well, thanks for the compliment! I think my style comes from watching my mother from the time I was a little girl. She was so stylish. She was the first person I saw mix high-end pieces with more accessible styles and make it all work. I'm also inspired by my sister ; I love her bold approach.
