Beyonce Is Not Doing a Las Vegas Residency

December 9, 2019

Beyonce is not doing a Las Vegas residency, her rep has confirmed to Variety.

It’s “absolutely not true,” the rep stated.

Rumors that Queen Bey would be hitting the strip began circulating Saturday after website LoveBScott posted a story citing “sources” that said she would announce the residency in the first half of 2020. The report said the residency would have made Beyonce the highest-paid entertainer in the city.

The “Lemonade” mastermind has performed in Vegas before, releasing the “I Am… Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas” album, which was recorded over a few dates during her “I Am…” world tour, in 2009.

The news had, predictably, gotten Beyonce fans riled up, with some claiming that there was no way the star would agree to a residency rather than releasing a new album and touring in support. Others felt that the mother of three might like the steadiness of a residency as opposed to a world tour.

'Homecoming' Reached 1.1M US Viewers in Its First Day

May 15, 2019

Netflix’s critically-acclaimed concert special Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé reached 1.1 million U.S. viewers on its April 17 premiere date, according to data newly provided by Nielsen via its SVOD Content Ratings system.

Introduced in October 2017, SVOD Content Ratings measures the viewership of subscription video on demand (SVOD) services via audio recognition software installed in 44,000 U.S. homes that contain Nielsen's TV set meters. While the highly-secretive Netflix has stated in the past that Nielsen's ratings are “not even close” to being accurate, it is the most reliable measure yet of SVOD viewership data.

According to the numbers compiled by Nielsen, the audience for Homecoming was 63% African American on the day of its premiere and 55% over its first seven days, more than any other Netflix original film or series analyzed to date (the closest was Bird Box with 24%). Hispanics, meanwhile, made up 15% of viewers, while Asians comprised 5%.

'Lemonade' Returns to Top 10 on Billboard 200

April 29, 2019

It’s a big week for Beyoncé on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as the diva claims a pair of concurrent top 10 albums for the first time.

Her 2016 album Lemonade re-enters the list at No. 9 following its wide streaming release, and Homecoming: The Live Album jumps 7-4 after its first full chart tracking week of activity. Further, two more Beyoncé albums dot the list, as both I Am… Sasha Fierce and her self-titled set re-enter the tally.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new May 4-dated chart, where Lemonade re-enters at No. 9, will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on April 30.

Homecoming: The Live Album rises 7-4 after its first full chart tracking week of activity, earning 57,000 equivalent album units (up 47%) in the week ending April 25. The album gains in both SEA and TEA units, but declines in album sales (8,000; down 43%). On the April 26-dated chart (reflecting the tracking week ending April 18), the album debuted on the list from just two days of activity, as it was released on April 17.

Beyonce's 'Homecoming' Album Debuts in Top 10 on Billboard 200

April 23, 2019

Beyoncé’s surprise-released Homecoming: The Live Album debuts at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart with 38,000 units earned from just two days of tracking activity (with 14,000 of that sum in album sales). The album dropped with no warning in the very early hours of Wednesday, April 17, and the tracking week for the chart ended on April 18. (Billboard’s album charts’ tracking week runs Friday through Thursday.)

Homecoming: The Live Album was released to digital retail and streaming services shortly after the premiere of Beyoncé’s Homecoming film on Netflix at 12:01 a.m. on April 17. Both projects chronicle Beyoncé’s headlining performances at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Homecoming: The Live Album is Beyoncé’s eighth top 10 album as a soloist. She also recently visited the top 10 as one-half of The Carters (alongside husband Jay-Z) with 2018’s No. 2-peaking Everything Is Love.

It’s possible that Homecoming: The Live Album could rise higher on next week’s Billboard 200 chart (dated May 4), after its first full tracking week of activity.

Beyonce's Netflix Deal Worth a Whopping $60 Million

April 20, 2019

Netflix has become a destination for television visionaries like Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy, with deals worth $100 million and $250 million, respectively, and top comedians like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle ($40 million and $60 million, respectively). The streaming giant, which just announced it’s added nearly 10 million subscribers in Q1, is honing in on music, too, landing a three-project deal with Beyonce worth a whopping $60 million, sources tell Variety.

The first of the three specials is “Homecoming,” the behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling her 2018 Coachella performance — a massive spectacle of dance, visuals and music that reaffirmed Beyonce’s moniker of Queen Bey — which premiered on April 17. The price tag on this installment, for which Beyonce Knowles-Carter is credited as executive producer, writer and director, hovers around $20 million. Beyonce’s rep did not respond to Variety’s requests for comment; Netflix declined comment for this story, although a source at the company disputed the financial terms of the deal.

According to Vulture, HBO was also interested in the project, having had a long relationship with Knowles-Carter (the cable network aired her 2016 “Lemonade” film as well as her 2014 “On the Run Tour” concert special with husband Jay-Z and 2013 doc “Life Is But a Dream”), but backed out when Netflix came in with a richer offer. (HBO has not responded to Variety‘s request for comment.)

Beyonce Released 'Homecoming' Live Album Along With Netflix Documentary

April 17, 2019

Beyonce’s history-making 2018 Coachella performance is now available as both a documentary and a live album. Homecoming is the expected Netflix documentary that the singer has been teasing for the past few weeks and also the title of the accompanying live album, which unexpectedly accompanied the arrival of the film. While the trailer for the Homecoming film has been circulating on Youtube for the past week, plans to release the performance as an album were kept mum until Beyonce herself tweeted the link at midnight PST.

With Homecoming the film detailing the creation and performance of the set, Homecoming the album features the full concert, which included Beyonce hits like “7/11,” “Crazy In Love,” “Formation,” “Single Ladies,” and her Coachella rendition of “Lift Every Voice And Sing,” the Black National Anthem. The tracklist also features two bonus tracks: “I Been On,” a tribute to Beyonce’s hometown of Houston, Texas, and a cover of Frankie Beverly And Maze’s “Before I Let Go,” a Black family reunion staple.

Homecoming is out now via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. Get it here. The Homecoming film is now available on Netflix.

Pop megastar Beyonce reportedly arrived in London yesterday, weeks ahead of her headlining slot at Glastonbury festival so she can rehearse at a secret location. The 29-year-old will close the three-day UK event, the same festival her husband Jay-Z previously headlined in 2008, on June 26 and has hired a rehearsal studio in London to perfect her show. An insider told British newspaper the Daily Mirror: 'Beyonce is so nervous about the gig she has booked the space for two weeks so she can perfect the set, which will include dizzying pyrotechnics. She's literally playing with fire. 'Her performance at Glastonbury is already looking epic. She's been given a helping hand by Jay-Z and Kanye West who both look set to perform numbers with her.'
US rapper Jay-Z has gushed about his talented wife Beyonce after posting a video online of her rehearsing backstage. The Crazy In Love hitmaker was preparing for her performance on the American Idol final. And Jay-Z, 41, couldn't help but praise the 29 year-old's talent. He wrote on his LifeandTimes website: 'Sometimes you need perspective. You've been right in front of greatness so often that you need to step back and see it again for the first time.' He added: 'This is the dressing room rehearsal for American Idol. No microphone. No effects.'

Big things are in store for the finale of American Idol's 10th season. A production source tells The Hollywood Reporter that in addition to U2's Bono and The Edge (who are performing with the cast members from Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), show judge Steven Tyler will be singing onstage. And, he'll be in good company. According to the source, the Aerosmith frontman will be joined by Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga and Beyonce who will perform a group medley along with contestants Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. There has also been talk that judge Jennifer Lopez will return to the stage (she performed her single "On the Floor" two weeks ago), but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. On Tuesday's episode, a pre-taped performance of this year's send-off song, "Don't You Forget About Me" by Season Seven winner David Cook will be aired. And, though he tweeted that he would not be singing because he wasn't asked to, last season's winner Lee Dewyze will be in attendance. He was spotted downtown at the LA Live courtyard along with Idol alums Elliott Yamin, Michael Johns, Didi Benami, Nicky McKibbin, Andrew Garcia and Jason Castro.
When Beyonce took to the stage at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards this past Sunday (May 22), she gave what was, quite possibly, the performance of her lifetime. It certainly ranks up there among the most memorable in the award show's history. Honored with the Billboard Millennium Award, Beyonce performed her current single, 'Run the World (Girls)' while dancing and interacting with high-tech video projections synced behind her. Indeed, the word "epic" comes to mind, as it was a dazzling marriage of choreography and technology, the likes of which have rarely been seen on live television. However, some have argued that the word "groundbreaking" might be misleading -- Beyonce's performance may have been unique in its execution, but the basic idea actually came from a performance by Italian pop singer Lorella Cuccerini in 2010. The visuals, dancing and even sequencing are remarkably similar at points. That's no coincidence, nor is it a rip-off. Rather, Beyonce acknowledges the direct influence. "My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much," Beyonce tells AOL Music, exclusively. "I then met with the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius. Thank god for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to something so inspiring. I never worked so hard on anything in my life as that performance for the Billboard Awards." Naturally, YouTube is now flooded with side-by-side comparisons of the two performances and, yes, it is fascinating to see how ideas can evolve from one creative entity to the next. But whereas critics are quick to point out influences, musicians are more prone to identify them as inspiration. In turn, Beyonce's performance will now, no doubt, "influence" other artists at future award shows. For proof, check back next year. And that, of course, is exactly why Beyonce is a Billboard Millennium Award recipient. Read more...
Beyoncé will be honored in a tribute fit for a queen. Everyone from First Lady Michelle Obama to Lady Gaga will take part in saluting the singer with the Millennium Award at tomorrow’s Billboard Music Awards. Billboard announced that the star-studded presentation will feature messages from Obama, Gaga, U2’s Bono, Stevie Wonder, and Barbra Streisand, who Beyoncé called one of her “career role models.” The 29-year-old superstar will also reportedly perform her single “Run the World (Girls)” at the ceremony, which will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
The likes of Beyoncé, Usher and Madonna joined US TV legend Oprah Winfrey to bid farewell to her iconic chat show last night. Winfrey, who announced in November 2009 that she would be ending her talk show, claimed she was "beyond joyous" after a whole host of Hollywood A-listers turned up to surprise her at the recording of her last ever three shows in Chicago. As well as Queen B, Usher and Madge, Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes, Alicia Keys, Halle Berry and Will Smith also turned up to pay homage to Oprah in front of a 20,000 strong audience. Beyoncé took to the stage to perform her new single Run The World (Girls) for Oprah, wearing hotpants and a sexy tuxedo, complete with bow-tie. The ex-Destiny's Child singer said of Oprah: "Oprah Winfrey, because of you, women everywhere have graduated to a new level of understanding of what we are, who we are, and who we can be ... We can run the world!'" The final three episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show will air in America next week.

Lady Gaga will kick off Good Morning America's annual Summer Concert Series on ABC, but beyond that, this year's lineup has something for everyone, from pop to R&B to country to '80s nostalgia. Among the highlights will be a show by Beyonce, the first-ever joint onstage TV performance from 80s pop princesses Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, a performance by all top 11 American Idol contestants, and appearances by Selena Gomez, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Taio Cruz, The Go-Go's, Nicki Minaj, Florence & The Machine, the Goo Goo Dolls and country stars Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley. GMA's summer concert series starts with Gaga on May 27. That show will be the only ticketed event -- details on how to get those tickets will be coming soon. The series continues with free concerts each Friday at Rumsey Playfield in New York City's Central Park. For more details about attending the summer concert series, visit ABCNews.go.com/GMA.

Pop superstar Beyonce has been announced as the headline act at this year's Oxegen festival in County Kildare. The singer will join a host of stars including Coldplay, The Black Eyed Peas, and Irish rockers The Script. It is Beyonce's first Irish date since 2009, when she performed in Dublin and at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast. The festival will take place at Punchestown race course from 7 until 10 July. John Probyn, Oxegen's festival director, said: "We're always striving to bring the biggest and best music talent to Oxegen and they really don't come any bigger than Beyonce. "She is a truly incredible artist and an amazing live performer. This year we've got most of the artists headlining the UK's major festivals on one bill. "It's all about giving fans real value for money and delivering an unforgettable experience." Tickets for Oxegen 2011 are on sale now from €99.50 (£89).
Beyonce has been added to the line-up for this year's T in the Park festival. The singer will take to the main stage at Balado, Kinross, on Saturday 9 July, a year after husband Jay-Z played at the event. Beyonce's set will include classic hits, as well as new music from her upcoming fourth solo album, including lead single Run The World (Girls). She joins the likes of Foo Fighters, Coldplay, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys at the three-day festival. Plan B, The Script, Tinie Tempah, Pulp and Tom Jones are also set to play at the event, which runs from 8-10 July.
Beyoncé will not be performing at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding on 29 April, a representative for the singer has confirmed. The source told Entertainment Tonight that “the ceremony is not on her schedule and she has a shoot in New York on Saturday”. British newspaper the Daily Star originally reported that the royal couple were huge fans of the R&B star and her rapper husband Jay-Z and wanted them both to perform at their wedding. A source told the UK newspaper: 'Both William and Kate are massive fans of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. They really wanted to make their big day even more special and what better way than by getting pop royalty to perform at the party?” The source added: 'They both wanted to ditch traditions and make it more personal for them… it's highly likely they have taken up the Royals' offer.'
With the royal wedding just around the corner, it is no surprise that there is also huge anticipation surrounding the wedding party. Superstar couple Beyonce and Jay-Z have reportedly been asked to perform at the royal wedding reception of Prince William and Kate Middleton. A source told the Daily Star: "They really wanted to make their big day more special and what better way than by getting pop royalty to perform at the party? "Will and Kate have an official reception for hundreds of dignitaries before throwing a less formal bash for loved-ones." The Palace refused to confirm or deny whether the stars have accepted the invite.
Beyoncé is planning a string of collaborations for her headline slot at this year's Glastonbury festival. The 'Single Ladies' star is thought to have recruited husband Jay-Z and friend Kanye West to appear on stage with her during the final performance slot of the festival's three-day lineup, reports The Mirror. It has also been suggested that showbiz couple Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow could take to the stage with Beyoncé on June 26. Beyoncé was present when Jay-Z controversially headlined the festival back in 2007, but she did not join him on stage for a performance. The other headliners for the festival are confirmed to be U2 and Coldplay. The sold-out event runs from June 24 to June 26. Beyoncé - currently shooting the video for her new single in California - is expected to play new material as part of her setlist.
#5. Ciara
The R&B star maximized her krumping skills as the genre swept American in the early 00's -- but while subsequent styles have bumped the frenetic full body spasm out of popular favor, her "music" has similarly suffered. Bottom line: she's one fresh face away from being permanently cut from this list
Best Moves: "1, 2 Step" video

#4. Lady GaGa
Forging an early bond with choreographer du jour Laurieann Gibson has served GaGa well over the last three years as she's eschewed standard moves for more atypical, yet no less popular, creations.
Best Moves: "Bad Romance" at The 2009 AMA's

#3. Rihanna
Although she's been making club-banging dance music since the jump, Rihanna's career wasn't predicated on being able to shake that ass like her fans do. This all changed with the release of her latest CD, "Loud" and the gyration-heavy performances she's been serving up with "What's My Name."
Best Moves: "What's My Name" at the 2011 Grammys

#2. Nicole Scherzinger
When you front a group born out of a burlesque dance club, odds are you can slam it to the ground and shake it all around with the best of them. But the biggest surprise about the Pussycat Dolls' queen bee has been her consistent ability to serve up hard-hitting routines while singing live.
Best Moves: "When I Grow Up"

#1. Beyonce
Was there any doubt B would snag the top slot? If you thought otherwise, I don't know what you've been doing for the last 15 years, but it certainly wasn't watching a single live performance -- be it in concert or on television -- as the megastar consistently devoted every ounce of her to the routine. And the fact she was able to do it night after night on her seemingly endless I Am Sasha Fierce Tour makes Beyonce's professionalism and skill all the more impressive,
Best Moves: "Single Ladies" on 2008 AMA's
